I have been playing on Matchmaker in Halo 3 and I have noticed that hardly anyone appears with a speaker icon beside their name, and those that do never talk. I have checked my firewall, UPnP, and everything the solutions centre tells me to, but to no avail. Can anyone help?

From what I have seen, throttle levers are usually a black cylinder, prop levers a spiky blue rectangle, and mixture levers a spiky red circle. Do these shapes or colours represent anything? When was this standardisation first made?

I am making a short story. It is about a family whose house is destroyed by a bushfire. Have you got any good ideas for a title?

I have recently been on a flight (Qantas domestic). The economy section was almost full, but when disembarking from the plane I noticed that just about every seat in Business was empty (the pillows etc. hadn't been moved). I thought that the airlines usually would rather upgrade their frequent fliers and make them happy than leave the seats empty. Am I wrong, or was this flight a peculiarity?

I am flying QANTAS Perth to Sydney, where I am transfering to a flight to Auckland. The time between scheduled arrival and departure is only 1:10. I will have to transfer from domestic to international so I would go through customs etc.

My questions are: Will I have time to make the flight?

And will my luggage make the transfer?

If my plane from Perth is late, will I be able to be transferred for free?

And is there anything I can do to make sure that me and my luggage gets there on time?

I know that go-arounds are normal procedures, but I have heard of cases when a plane attempts a go-around but crashes into an obstruction anyway. If you are on a plane and it does go-around, would it be a good idea to brace, or something? Should you be concerned?

I am going on a trip and I will have my computer with me. I would like to get some of my DVDs and save the movies onto my computer so I can watch them without having to take around all the DVDs. I am running Vista home premium.

A: Is it possible, and if so, how do you do it?

B: Is it legal, specifically in Australia?

I know that they are used for varying purposes, but what do they mean practically? What should you do when you see one?

OK, here is my idea. It might be stupid, but bear with me:

My idea is for a jet boat. Not water jet, like on jet skis, but with a real jet. It would have a turboshaft engine (i.e.one that transmits most of its power to a shaft, not through a nozzle) that is connected to a propeller on the exterior of the boat, below the water line. Ideally the air intake would be as high as possible, to reduce water in the engine, and the engine itself would be in the engine room like on any other boat. So it wouldn't look like a boat with a jet engine slapped on the top, just some air intakes.

Your thoughts? Is it possible if price is no object? Would it work better than a piston engine? More efficient?

Okay, at my school, there are fire extinguisher holders but not fire extinguishers. What do you think happened to them? My guess is that the school pawned them : )

2. What place do you reccomend to get it? I don't have my own boat and am considering Swan Boating Academy. I need full tuition.

3. What is the hardest part of the practical? What are some pitfalls?

My mind was wandering today and I came up with this quite odd theory:

A square is a rectangle.

But a rectangle is not a square.

Therefore, a square is not a square.

What is your opinion of this statement? And please don't just yell at me for being stupid.

At my school the fire alarm seems faulty. The control box, which is outside my classroom, keeps flashing lights and making a high pitched noise. When I had a look, the light that was flashing was "ALARM". The school caretaker said it "hasn't got anything to do with safety" but I highly doubt that. Also, a lot of the exit signs are faulty or misleading.

Is this safe, and can the school be reported? What should I do? Thanks!

In Europe I kept seeing an extra light on the back of traffic lights. It is on the opposite side and in the same position as the red light on the other side. It is like a normal red light but it is shaped like a 'plus' sign. Does anyone know what it means?

Pilots, let's hear some interesting stories of things that have happened while flying - from training to airline flying!

I am thinking of becoming a pilot in the future but I am not able to pass the dot pattern colourblindness tests. I understand I can do a farnsworth lantern test instead. How easy is it to pass, how is it done, and will employers see having to take this test as a weakness?

What is it about being a pilot that you like? How does this compare to what you expected when you started out? And no, I don't want to hear rants about how terrible being a pilot is.
