  • What do you think of my poem?

    A series of eight haikus forming a large poem. I wrote it for school last year, but I really like it. It's called "Daybreak" (there's a small chance that some of these animals would be together, so please excuse that hehe):

    Calmness fills the air

    Bright starts dance in the moonlight

    The lights sing to me

    Sounds of the night call

    Crickets and cicadas chirps

    Frogs croak together

    Sights cloud the dark sky

    Fireflies dance gracefully

    Owls watch on branches

    The sounds are ceasing

    Animals start to retreat

    For daybreak is near

    On the horizon

    Beams of light rise from their sleep

    Illuminating

    Birds sing to others

    A tune, a weightless feather

    Falling from the sky

    Insects fly like wind

    Butterflies and dragonflies

    Soar through the morning

    Daybreak is rebirth

    Daybreak is another chance

    To live life freely

  • Who is your favorite member...?

    ...generally in a K-pop group? Do you like the best singer, rapper, dancer, hottest, etc. I'm curious of what others think. :) I always seem to love the underrated/underappreciated member.

  • Is it respectful to give a gift to someone for their birthday who has given you one?

    Usually, I handmake cards for friends for their birthday, since I don't have time to buy a gift. However, I give them a beautful homemade card and receive nothing in return when my birthday comes. Is this disrespectful or am I just overreacting?

  • Is it okay to be sensitive?

    I consider myself sensitive because I tend to cry over smaller things. When I was little, people used to say "What a crybaby!" and "Why are you crying over everything?" and "loser" and many other bad names. But now I'm a teen and people say I'm compassionate and kind-hearted. I hardly hear anyone calling me a loser. I feel that when I listen to people talking to me, I can interpret some of their thoughts. I'm just really into the conversation. Is this sensitivity a special gift?

  • To Kill a Mockingbird - incorporating Boo Radley in this essay?

    I'm writing a persuasive essay that needs to list the events in order. But I'm not sure how to include Boo's events, since he's in the beginning and end of the book, but not in the middle. (I'm writing about courage, and he has both the courage of trying to befriend Jem and Scout. He also was courageous for saving them from Bob.)

    Do I put all of his acts of courage in one paragraph or one in the beginning and one at the end?

  • Swimming unit in PE in several weeks, but I don't know how to swim...?

    In a few weeks, my class will be swimming, but I don't know how. I never really liked going into the pool because I was self-conscious (kids kept calling me fat and chubby; I'm still a bit self-conscious). I don't think I have an extreme fear of going into the water, since I felt fine when I went in the pool during a 5th grade swim party. But at that time, I was with a lot of friends who couldn't swim. But now it's high school, and there's a lot of snobby, rude people in my class. I'm afraid that I'll be the lone non-swimmer. First, I plan to tell my teacher about it. Then I want to get into the pool and try to learn whatever I can. Any other helpful advice? It will be appreciated. :)

  • Did I do anything wrong so far?

    Two camper vans leave Arrowhead Lake at the same time, one traveling north at a speed of 10km/h faster than the other, which is traveling south. Afer 3 hours, the camper vans are 420 km apart. Find their speeds.

    For one van, I put that the rate is r + 10, the time is 3 h, and the distance is 420km.

    For the other van, I put that the rate is r, the time is 3 h, and the distance is 420.

    I know they travel 65km and 75km seperately, but I think I did something with the rates, times, and distances. What'd I do wrong?

    3 AnswersMathematics1 decade ago
  • I can never get this right...?

    Every time I try solving this, I end up with the rate and I'm not supposed to solve that. Someone wanna explain this to me a little bit? Thanks, if you're willing to.

    An airplane flies 4200 km against the wind in 6 hours. The airplane's return flight with the wind takes 5 hours. The speed of the wind remains constant. Find the speed of the plane in still air and the speed of the wind,

    What could I do so I don't keep getting the rate?

  • Could you explain this to me?

    y = 3/4x + 1/4

    y = 3/4x - 3/4

    I tried multiplying the fractions into whole numbers, but it didn't work. If anyone could show me a few steps, it would help!

    (And sorry if I seem too pushy...)

  • Explain this problem to me please?

    A group of 60 people attend a ball game. There were three times as many children as adults in the group. Write a system of equations that you could use to solve this problem, where a is the number of adults and c is the number of children in the group.

    Solve the system of equations for c, the number of children in the group.

    I'm not sure what the equations should be after trying numerous times. And does a = 15?

    5 AnswersMathematics1 decade ago
  • Could you explain to me how to solve this problem?

    I'm a little confused by this system:

    y = x - 4

    y = 2x

    It says I have to solve by substitution, but every time I try to change the equations, it comes out wrong. If you could explain a few steps for me, that could be great? Pretty please? =)

Any advice will be appreciated.

  • Birthday Ideas?

    Ok, so my birthday's coming this Saturday. I'm not telling you my age, but it's around the pre-teen or teen area. I'm not having a party (my parents are sooo fun [grr]). It's also a 3-day weekends because of Memorial Day. I was just wondering what kinds of things I can do to keep me from getting bored. My friends have plans, so that option's out. So...What other stuff can I do? My parents asked me what to do and I have no idea. Any ideas?

  • Yahoo Messenger thing...kinda annoying...help?

    I use the Yahoo Messenger that's on the New Yahoo! Mail. Not the downloaded one. So, I'm just chatting with my friends normally. But sometimes, these "New Email Message" and "New Text Message" windows keep popping up. I have to keep closing them and disrupting my chat time. But they come back in a second. It takes like 5 times for this to stop, and it happens a lot. Is there something wrong? If there's a way, is there a way to stop it?

  • Friend issue. Kinda complicated. Any advice?

    Ok, so I have this group of friends. We're like the typical type of group-caring, sometimes an annoyance, and funny. Well that personality was kinda thrown out the window when this happened:

    It was during recess. My friends were trying to get some seaweed my other friend had. Yeah-they like it. So did I, but I wasn't involved. Anyway, one piece fell on the floor. My friend Alexandria picked it up just when my other friend Michelle came. Alexandria offered Michelle the piece. Michelle took it and ate without knowing it fell on the floor. I heard of this story from someone, but I didn't see it. Then Michelle found out and got so mad that she told the office. Now my group of friends split into 2 groups. One agrees with Michelle's action-the other doesn't. Now both sides kinda think she's annoying. Of course, I think she's still a friend. I hang out with Michelle and make her feel better. But I was just wondering how I could get the 2 groups back into 1 like the past. Any advice?

  • Pythagorean Theorem...sorta?

    1) One leg of a right triangle is twice as long as the other leg. The length of the hypotenuse is 20 (with a square root sign). What is the length of each leg? (I know the solutions are 2 and 4)

    2) One leg of a right triangle is five times as lnog as the other leg. The length of the hypotenuse is 416 (with a square root sign). What is the length of each leg? (I know the solutions are 4 and 20)

    3) The length of the hypotenuse of a right triangle is three times the length of one of the legs. The length of the other leg is 72 (with a square root sign). What is the length of the hypotenuse? (I don't know the solutions...)

    Sorry if this may seem a little much, but I'm in a panic. I'm in advanced math and I need good grades to get into Algebra next year. If you could be nice and explain to me the steps of each one as best as you can. Either in words or with numbers. Any help would be appreciated!

  • I don't really like the Jonas Brothers. Anyone agree with me?

    I'm just kinda curious about this. I'm just wondering if I'm not the only girl in the world who doesn't like the Jonas Brothers. I used to like them, but my story of why I now don't like them is right here:

    Every time I hear one of their songs on Radio Disney, I change the station immediately. I'm annoyed that they always get tthe #1 song on the Dot Com Top 3. It's annoying! I also don't like it when girls call in and say "Oh my god!!! The Jonas Brothers are SOOOOO cute!" It's a pain. Sorry Jonas fans. And the girls at my school keep looking at posters of them they stuck in their lockers. One of those girls has a locker right next to mine and I have to see those posters over and over and OVER again EVERY SINGLE DAY!! I'm just wondering if anyone feels this way. Sorry for the long long long message? Anyone agree? Hmmm?
