I am semi-retired, divorced man. I have wide and varied experience. I have a Master's Degree in History. My thesis on Texas Political History was published and received an academic award. I taught American History for a while in a local community college. In the past, I also worked in the wholesale and retail liquor business and also in the movie theater business. In 1967, I was a U. S. Navy Corpsman in Vietnam attached to a U. S. Marine Corps combat unit. I have been politically active for at least thirty years. I am currrently serving as a Democratic Party Precint Chairman and have held that position for the past fifteen years.
Is anyone besides me sick and tired of right wing fanatics using Yahoo Answers to?
rant about Obama being a Muslim, or foreign born or a Socialist or whatever without offering one iota of proof? This has been going on over four years now.
13 AnswersPolitics8 years agoSince when are the governors of Louisana and Florida above the law?
The governors of these two states announced they will not implement Obamacare in their states even though it is officially the law of the land. I thought we didn't get to just pick and choose the laws we want to follow.

I have this condition. I know there is a term for this but I have forgotten what it is.
1 AnswerOptical9 years agoWhy do the voters in Alaska want to reelect a man convicted of seven counts of corruption to the U. S. Senate?
I am, of course, referring to Ted Stevens, who is ahead in the election count. Don't the Alaskan voters realize that even if Stevens does get elected, he will most likely be expelled from the Senate? What are they thinking?
5 AnswersElections1 decade agoBut what about the ISSUES?
Gender. Race. Family associations. Religious affiliations. Birth certificates. And now, lipstick on pigs.
These have been discussed and argued on YA throughout the campaign, but they are really nothing more than smoke screen, in my opinion.
Why aren't we discussing and arguing real issues that are really important, such as the economy, the war, education and so forth?
3 AnswersElections1 decade agoSince Palin opposes sex education in schools, wouldn't that explain her teenage daughter getting pregnant?
Palin opposes sex education in public schools. So did she practice her duty as a parent and explain to her daughter birth control and the dangers of getting pregnant?
11 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhy would 27% of Hillary delegates vote for McCain?
Don't these people understand that McCain and HRC are poles apart on the issues that these Hillary delegates care about? Obama is much more likely to come closer to implementing Killary's ideas than John McCain ever would.
Or do they just not understand?
13 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhy should we take sides in the Georgian-Russian conflict?
We are already involved in two wars - Afghanistan and Iraq. Why don't we just try to mediate and come up with a solution that is acceptable to all parties involved?
16 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIf it were pr oven that Jesus Christ was indeed married, how would that affect Christianity today?
There are theories out there that Jesus may have been married, and might had even had children. There is, of course, no documents that prove that this happened, but if it had happened, how do you think the Christian religion might have been different today?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs there a right way to do a wrong thing?
There has been posted recently on a marquee in front of a local church that "There is not a right way to do a wrong thing." This statement and my question seems enigmatic. I would like to hear your thoughts on the matter.

3 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoWhat does Freedom of Speech really mean?
"I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
I do not recall who made this quote. I know it was part of a conversation between two British politicans durintg eighteenth century.
But this quote represents to me the true meaning of the Freedom of speech.
Would you defend everyone's elses right to voice his opinion, no matter how much you disagree with it?
11 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoIf Obama is as bad as some right wingers say he is, then why is he ahead of McCain in the polls?
In spite of all the Obama bashing, one recent poll (the Newsweek Poll) show Obama with a fifteen point lead over McCain. Is the American voter seeing through these unwarranted attacks?
29 AnswersElections1 decade agoWho do you trust: Public Sector or Private Sector?
One of the basic differences between Democrats and Republicans is their approach to problem solving. Republicans believe turning over economic problems to the private sector is an effective way to do this. Democrats on the other hand believe that government is better suited for this task. So who do you trust more to do this: Government or The big corportations?
12 AnswersElections1 decade agoIs George W. Bush really that smart?
Bush has an Ivy League degree, but it dosen't seem to equate to common sense. Why does he follow such terrible advice from his right-wing cronies?
