  • what sort of arthritis attacks just the major joints?

I have had arthritis in my knees since my early 20s, in the last 5 years i have had symptoms in my pelvis and shoulder area, and in the last 6 months in my wrists and ankles. The pain wakes me up, yet because I'm not old (I'm 39) the GP is really taking his time and frankly no interest in sorting it out. I was also on Lithium, which I have stopped, as I couldn't take pain relief or anti inflammatorys so am now without medical help.

sorry, feeling fed up now, just wondered if someone else had been there too.

  • what do you do when you see someone trying to encourage benefit fraud on Answers?

There is someone on YA that replies to disability related issues, encouraging applying for benefits. That's fine, no issue with that, but often they go on to give tips of how to enhance the truth, bend the rules and give wrong information. That's fraud. They even offer one to one contact by email.

That utterly frightens me, and I think they need to be stopped before they hoover up vulnerable individuals to get them to commit fraud, I presume so they can fleece them.

What steps are available here, or through the authorities?

  • How to you tell someone that they are not mentally ill ?

I sometimes come across people desperate to prove they have a psychotic type illness on the internet but actually they clearly dont meet the criteria to be diagnosed. They blame the shrink the gp anyone but dont accept perhaps their illness may be as actually diagnosed, usually personality disorder, that although very painful and difficult, cannot be treated with meds alone and involves accepting responsibility and taking part in therapy.

Unfortunately a few people with this can be very difficult and can bully or attack if challenged in any way.

Im stuck, and dont know what to do. I feel like I am banging my head against a brick wall because I cannot give the individual what they want because to do so would make me a liar, and would also mean people who have schizophrenia or bipolar missing out on treatment as services, for example respite, are over subscribed by people with certain personality disorders. advice please.
