  • "child-murderer" vs. "child murderer"?

I am writing a paper and I want to use the phrase "child murderer" i.e. an adult who murders children. However, I want to avoid confusion with "child murderer" i.e. a child who is a murderer. Does anyone know what the proper form is for the phrase?

  • Should I transfer colleges?

I am currently a freshman in college. My school is on the quarter system, which I really dislike. The quarter system has the pros of letting us change classes often, which is good early on when you're still trying to figure out what you want to study and when you're in a class that you hate, so it's over more quickly. However, it has some drawbacks, including a heavy emphasis on 2 or 3 tests making up your grades for a quarter. I've only been here for one quarter, but I've found it difficult to make connections with professors due to the short length of our time with any professor. It also seems to me that we have more work here, since professors try to squeeze as much as they can into any quarter, since quarters are about 5 weeks shorter than semesters (This notion I've gotten from talking to friends at comparable Semester-based schools). The result I've found is a culture of studying that focuses on cramming. In a semester, the students have more time to absorb all the information, while I feel that the quarter system is forcing me to cram a ton just so I can make decent grades.

I've been thinking about transferring to a semester-based school, which I think would be a better fit for me, as it fits my studying style more, and I feel it would provide me with more opportunities to participate in clubs without feeling like my grades will suffer. And I would consider transferring to a school a bit closer to home (I live in the Northeast, while my current school is in the Midwest), which would make travel a lot easier and cheaper. Plus, I would consider trying to transfer into an undergraduate business school, since that's my intended major. I would also look for a school with more clubs and intramural sports that I am interested in, since I've had a tough time finding those things here (the sports I like don't have intramural teams, and a LOT of the clubs you have to apply into)

However, the truth is that I don't hate my school. I don't love it, either. I like the people here, the I like the setting of the school, and my grades are good. The thought of going through the application, decision, and adjustment processes again scares me. And since my school is on the quarter system, transferring credits won't be easy, and I really want to graduate on time and study abroad.

It's a tough decision to make, and I know it is my decision to make, but what do you all think?

  • Thoughts on Flyers-Wild trade?

Does anyone have any thoughts about the trade between the Flyers and the Wild, where the Flyers got a 3rd round pick for 2013 and the Wild got Darroll Powe? I'm a Flyers fan and I'm a bit perplexed. Powe was a high-energy player and a great PKer

  • Precum pregnancy possibility?

My girlfriend and I had sex tonight and noticed afterward that the condom had torn at the tip. We had had sex a couple hours before though so I did not *** this time. Her period ended two weeks ago. What are the chances of her getting pregnant from this and should we get her a morning after pill?

  • Best course of action for mono?

Last weekend my girlfriend accidentally shared a drink with a guy who has mono. She says she is now showing symptoms of mono. After she took the drink but before she started showing these symptoms, we made out. Is it possible to transmit mono before you show the symptoms? Should I be concerned about having mono? I heard the normal incubation period was 4-6 weeks, though, so is this whole thing just in her head? Maybe she doesn't have mono but she just thinks she does....

  • The evolution of the female rock band lead vocalist...?

If you look at past rock bands (The Beatles, Boston, AC/DC, The Police, etc.), almost all of them have male lead vocalists. Today, though, female lead vocalists in rock bands are not too uncommon with bands like Evanescence and Paramore making a lot of noise in the music industry. How and when did female vocalists work their way into the lead vocals position in bands?

  • Is the only way to get 2010 Winter Classic tickets through this raffle system?

NHL.com seems to have a raffle system for the tickets. It says you register after September 15 and then on October 20 people are selected. If you're chosen you can buy two tickets to the Classic. But I want to buy around 10 tickets. Is there another way to buy tickets or is this what the NHL is doing this year?

  • If Scott Summers was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, then how come he doesn't recognize Wolverine in X-Men?

In X-Men Origins, Scott is with Wolverine, but he has a blindfold on. So, Scott couldn't actually see Wolverine, but in the scene right before Wolverine fights Wade, Kayla says "Logan" and Scott is there. So, in X-Men, wouldn't Scott recognize that the two Logans are the same?

  • Stereo-ipod touch cord...?

I have a stereo system (it's kinda old, but it works). I bought this cord (http://www.amazon.com/Cables-4-Feet-Stereo-Connect... for it so that I could hook up my ipod to the stereo. The cord works with my ipod Video, but not with my ipod touch 2nd generation. The music just plays out of the ipod's speaker. What is the problem?

  • Is it possible to reduce the value of a contract?

Let's say that a player is making $7 million per year. He realizes that he has made enough money to live off of for more than a few years and his team could use the cap space to bring in some more talent and increase the chance of that team winning the Cup. Could said player reduce his contract to, let's say, $5 million per year so that this would be possible?

  • Should the NHL standardize the active-ness of boards?

Now that I've really seen what Detriot's boards do and how much they affect a game, should the NHL consider making it so that all boards are as active as each other? It seemed to me that Fleury was almost surprised when those two pucks came off the boards and right back in front, while the Wings players were ready. If all arenas had boards of the same active-ness (activity?), maybe some of these goals wouldn't happen? Thoughts?

P.S. I am not a sore Penguins fan, complaining about how the Pens lost. I am a Flyers fan and take an unmeasurable amount of pleasure in watching Detroit beat Pittsburgh. No disrespect to Pens fans, though.

  • I have 2 questions...?

I was watching the Chicago-Detroit game (great game by the way) and I noticed a few things.

    1. Is it just me or does it seem like more people decide to stand up and wave at the camera in the middle of play at the Joe Louis Arena than anywhere else?

    2. Does Jonathan Toews have the greatest sideburns ever?

  • Should centers consider using wooden sticks on major faceoffs?

In last year's playoffs, the Flyers lost to the Habs, because the center broke his stick on a draw in the Flyers' zone late in the third period, and tonight the Penguins lost when their center broke his stick in the Pittsburgh zone in OT. Should centers at least consider using a wooden stick in a critical situation like that?

  • Reliable website for purchasing WWII collectibles?

I have been interested in World War II for some time now, and I was wondering if there was any reliable site for buying original World War II items. I have looked at eBay, but I'm not sure if that is trustworthy. If it is, or if you have another reliable website, please answer.

P.S. I am looking for things like medals, patches, insignia and the like, not weapons.
