  • Anyone want an update?

So I came on here early January, wondering if I was somehow pregnant. I have a copper IUD. My areolas have been getting bigger and darker, and I've felt hormonally off. Pregnancy tests came back negative. And while I usually have two or three days of heavy bleeding, I had only one for my January period. Lasted the same amount of days, though.

It's an ovarian cyst. I had spotting and pain on Jan. 27, and went to the doctor for it. Ultrasound today said it was a cyst. Gah!

Anyway, if you're wondering about weird stuff and getting negative hpt's, go to the doctor and ask. I was planning to do so anyway, but it's nice to get moral support online, too.

  • Did your areolas change after you stopped breastfeeding?

I've dropped to one bf session a day, and my nipples look darker, and like the areolas are growing (you know, that weird darkening on the outside rim that hadn't been there before). I think ovulation just returned (right before I dropped to one session), and my hormones are kinda wacky at the moment. I have a copper IUD, I just had a period, and every pregnancy test I took came back negative, even post-period.

Please share your experiences with tapering down breastfeeding and having ovulation return. What happened with your areolas?

  • How many days past ovulation did you get a positive hpt?

Today is 10dpo (I think). Yesterday, I got a negative. I'm pretty sure the test is 25 mi/U's.

  • Possible miscarriage? beware of tmi?

I'm a bit concerned, to say the least, about some things I've been feeling and seeing.

Since it's the weekend, I would have to go to the ER or an InstaCare, and I do not savor either, really. I am hoping you can tell me, based on your experience, what you think this looks like.

I'm generally a crampy person; I get uterine cramps all the time. My midwife said that was normal for me, upon a pelvic exam several months ago to place a copper IUD. So I haven't been paying attention to them at all since my cycles normalized. I spotted yesterday, and was thinking it was just my cervix getting bumped; it happens, and it seemed in sequence. Today, I was more crampy than usual, it seemed, and last night I noticed my cervix was very low and probably open a bit. It does that often, too, and doesn't necessarily mean anything. So I figured it might be ovulation, or something. I haven't had any bleeding today, but when I went to the bathroom, I passed something white-ish about two or three inches long and half an inch wide, with streaks of blood throughout. It looks like tissue, not general mucus. I don't know what it is, and it might be that I'm passing last night's sex stuff which I hadn't seen yet, but it looks very much in one piece, and tissue-y. I looked online and people described a grey-ish mass about half as long and about as wide, which was the placenta. Reports varied as to whether it had veins or not. I wish I could look at comparison pictures. Mine doesn't seem to have veins, just unconnected blood streaks. Again, I don't know how to classify my cramps, and I spotted just a little yesterday only. If anything else comes out or I feel any worrisome symptoms, I'm definitely going to go see a doctor. The thing is, I have a history of freaking out over apparently normal variations of what my body does, and I don't care to spend hundreds of dollars on yet another normal thing. Not to mention disliking the reactions I get from people who haven't got the patience to deal with me politely.

  • Which washes easier and/or lasts longer?

I'm looking into sewing projects and would like experienced opinions. Which is better: cotton, hemp, or bamboo?

  • People have been asking if I'm pregnant?

I have an IUD, not looking to get pregnant again just yet, and this question isn't about my weight.

My husband came home and guessed that my news of the day was that I'm pregnant. Nothing too weird, since it was just a crap answer to my "guess what." But then I talk to my mom on the phone (she lives in another state) and she asks how I am, and asks the same question, out of the blue. Why? "Oh, the thought just popped into my head," she replies. I didn't catch any hint of another reason behind it.

Anyone out there get people asking that--without the whole thing about appearance? Is it some sort of premonition, or am I just feeling paranoid and superstitious?

  • So has anyone not torn during childbirth?

Vaginal delivery, of course. Why do you think you didn't tear?

  • Just curious... how soon did you get your period after giving birth?

And how heavy/long did you bleed postpartum?

I've had off-and-on, generally light bleeding through four weeks (the first week or two were heavy, though). It's the 6th week, and I've got all the symptoms of a period (bummer). So I'm curious what everyone else has experienced. :)

BTW, I am breastfeeding full time.

  • How can I get my mom to realize I'm an adult and can make my own decisions?

I'm living in my own house, married, and having my first child. And the first thing my mom does is say, "You need a better pediatrician for your daughter. Here, I'll research it and give you the number to this pediatrician, because your current plans aren't good enough and I know you want your daughter to have the best." I already have a pediatrician set up, and I try to tell her that I've got it taken care of, but she refuses to listen. Is there anything I can do, other than keep telling her that I'm making decisions for my family, and that I'm my child's mom, not her? I've been careful to acknowledge that she has experience in the parenting realm, and that I know she means well, but I've been firm in saying that it's my family and I'm responsible for them and can make good, educated decisions. If you have any tips for what to say or how to say it, I'd be grateful.

  • Anyone else ready to be done with pregnancy already?

I'll be 31 weeks in two days, and I just want to have the baby and start on the daunting task of learning to be a parent already. Anyone else in the same boat?

  • Who had/has gestational diabetes?

Just took the one-hour glucola test today, and the drink made me sick (tasted pretty good, though). When you took the glucose test, how did you feel? If you felt sick, did you end up having diabetes?

  • Considering buying my own washer/dryer?

It's infinitely frustrating to find apartments that include washer/dryer hookups, and not washer/dryers. Is it worth it to buy my own set (new or used) so I can find an easy place to live until we go somewhere else for grad school in a year? If so, where do you recommend I look to buy? I don't exactly have the biggest budget.

  • Tips on settling my stomach?

Pregnancy plus upset stomach generally means a date with the toilet for me. I've been able to prevent throwing up by taking Tums when I know it's stomach acid overproduction, but my stomach still feels icky. Anyone know good ways to soothe that? I've been emotionally upset and am trying to recover from it.

  • Are Apple refurbished laptops reliable?

I've been living and doing school with a dead Dell, which keeps getting worse. I don't have the money to get a really expensive computer, but I'd rather go with Apple than Dell, because they tend to last longer. Has anyone gotten a refurbished laptop? If you've had it for a long time, has it been worth the money? Any suggestions for me, as far as good comps go?
