4 AnswersGarden & Landscape9 years agoOnly gays and lesbians, please: what do you think of this philosophy?
My wife's brother is gay and he is a great guy, just one of the nicest people you'd ever meet. Anyway, he was hurt psychologically for several years while he was growing up. My wife says that he wasn't always as effeminate as he is now. Could the torment inflicted on him have caused him to be homosexual? Perhaps that he was neither born this way nor chose to be this way, but that this is the result of a psychological wound?
I'm not trying to be snarky or offensive, I am only curious.
9 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender1 decade agoWhat is a great "girly" drink?
My wife is a huge bit of a wimp when it comes to drinking alcohol, she hates the alcohol's "burn"; yet she enjoys taking part and getting a little tipsy. What drink do you think best conceals that burn?
3 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits1 decade agoCatholics only: Is St. Patrick's Day considered a Holy day?
My wife and I are brand new converts to Catholicism, haven't been through RCIA or inquiry and we were just wondering if St. Patrick's Day was considered a Holy day. Catholics respond only please.

Tomorrow, I go to Mass for my first time. I'm not sure what the typical dress attire is for a visitor to mass. Must I where a full suit or will slacks and a nice golf t-shirt be adequate?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat's the name of this fighting style?
It comes from Ireland, I'm almost 100% sure. It looks like boxing, but their stance appears to very open with their arms away from their body and the most traditional stance is almost a backstance. Here's a picture of a man named John Clark in the stance. http://www.aoh61.com/boxing_images/JohnClark-FP.jp...
Is this a martial art (if so, what name does it go by?) or is it that boxing has evolved a lot since its inception?
Its definitely an older form, but I'd like to learn how to fight in this manner. It seems to be a very quick and nimble form of fighting.
3 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoDoes this sound like an effective smoking blend?
I've been testing smokable herbs as a tobacco alternative. I've tried a few over-the-counter types and I only have a little grasp of how herbalism works. I've researched each ingredient and none of the following are poisonous by any means, but I'd like to know if you'd think its a good mix to make me sleepy (euphoria would be great too). Any ideas for improvement would be helpful too.
3 parts mullein
1 part scullcap
2 part passion flower
1 part damiana (as an anti-depressant)
1/2 part yerba mate
Ground to a pulp together.
I tried some anise star oil, but it made the mix taste and smell like licorice. ???

I'm making some beef jerky and I'd like to know which cut of the cow is best for jerky. Also, what kind of ingredients are best for marinades? Thank you. :-)
5 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoWhere's the best off-line place to get a credit report?
I just don't trust the internet with too many of my secrets like SSN or even my real name. Which are better (or does it matter) to get a credit report from, a bank or a credit union? What kind of information is included on the report? Will it tell me who I owe, how much, and phone number? Thank you. (10 points to the best and timeliest answer)
4 AnswersCredit1 decade agoWhat do you do when you try to get back to sleep?
I'm a firefighter, so I get woke up at night constantly. I find it very difficult to get back to sleep at night after trying not to kill my crew in a fiery high-speed collision while driving the engine through bar hopping traffic. I lay down for about fifteen minutes before getting too frustrated that I can't go back to sleep. This is taking a toll on my body. Does anyone know what the best way to go back to sleep would be?
I can't take any medication to make me drowsy. No sleep aides, no cough medicine, nothing to impair my driving ability.
2 AnswersOther - General Health Care1 decade agoHow do I clean my nails from this?
I'm a firefighter and I fought a structure fire last night. I'd like to go out with my wife tonight, but my fingernails are disgusting! They have this black soot underneath them that seems to be invulnerable to soap. What is the easiest way to get my nails clean? BTW: I have an open cut on one finger that has spliced the cuticle, so please nothing caustic.
2 AnswersOther - Skin & Body1 decade agoAre there any outdoor flowers this year?
My wife and I have been growing peppers, tomatoes, pumpkins, and rosemary all summer long. With great success to the peppers and the rosemary, but now frost is starting to kill them off slowly. I'd really like to grow something this winter. Could someone please give me their ideas of what kind of plants grow well in my area during the colder months? We live in southwestern South Carolina. Thank you.
4 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoWhat causes restless leg syndrome?
My wife drives me crazy with her restless legs at night. Is there something we can do to prevent this from happening? Besides putting Ivory or Dial under the mattress, apparently that home remedy is just a crock.
2 AnswersOther - General Health Care1 decade agoCould my asthma be partially responsible for my constant weight gain?
I went to the doctor due to a cough that I've had for almost a week now. He diagnosed me as having bronchitis and he ran some tests and it turns out that I have asthma also. Which leads me to ask, will the inhaler he put me on help me to loose some weight? Or at least control it a little better?
2 AnswersRespiratory Diseases1 decade agoSteamroom or Dry Room?
I have a sinus infection, I get them all the time during the winter. After a workout at the gym I have benefited from the steam room. Last night it was too crowded in the steam room, so I jumped into the sauna. The dry air felt like it dried out my sinuses and although I felt a little dehydrated, I still feel a little better. Which provides more benefits, steam or sauna?
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoBottom Feeder with an Oscar?
I have had a tiger oscar for over 4 years now. She's in a 45 gallon tank, 8 inches long, and seems to devour everything I put in with her. Every month or so I have to clean her tank, but I was wondering if there is anything I could put in with her to help maintain the cleanliness of the tank? I've tried pleckos, but they were gone as soon as I dropped them in. Crawfish would get sucked up and spat against the side of the tank to break their shell. Fascinating, but not helpful. Can you help?
