  • What happens when you mix methyl- or ethylamine with a complex carbohydrate such as starch? As in the Maillard Reaction?

What type of molecule do you end up with? What type of bonding? Are these amines "cationic" in nature? Any idea how soluble this might be?

  • Questions about gasses and a specific application...?

I work in the agricultural pest control industry. I am trying to come up with innovative ways to more effectively and safely apply pesticides.

I have an idea for a device that is situated in the field, even inside the crop canopy. I envision this device being filled with a liquid that contains the ideal pesticides and compounds that would cause the device's contents to be emitted in a gaseous form. I am thinking that it would be a dense, heavier than air, fog that would fill the crop canopy and just above the canopy. It would then dissipate. (Obviously, this application would have to occur when the wind is still).

My question is: What kind of compounds would react to form a somewhat inert fog like this?

The product would need to be relatively safe for the pesticide applicator and could also not be comprised of chemicals known to cause surface level ozone.

I know this is a long shot, but any information or guidance is greatly appreciated.

  • Can earwax squirt out and cover a fly that has landed in your ear?

I feel that I have had the sensation of a fly landing in my ear, and then it feels like earwax squirts out. When I reach in, there is no fly, but a big piece of wax.

  • How to prove that wheat stubble is sucking up all the available N?

In a lettuce crop in the Yuma area; There is streaking in the field running perpendicular to the beds. The grower is blaming it on the spreader truck, but there is so much trash in the field and it is noticeably more where the plants are stunted. I pulled "good" and "bad" soil samples to be tested for NO3-N, NH4-N, Total N, and Total C.

Is this all that I could do? What kind of results on the soil analysis will prove that a combine is at fault?

  • Is my KX 125 really just too small?

I recently purchased a 2001 KX 125. It is my first bike and was very inexpensive because it came from a good friend. I have begun riding at a MX track and the other guys tell me that I need to stand more and keep my elbows up. When I try this I feel like I am out of balance forward of the handle bars and the only way to keep from going over the front is to suck my elbows in.

I rode a coworkers CRF 450 and it felt so much better. I felt comfortable standing and I could get my elbows up...

I have adjusted the handle bars forward as much as I thought was reasonable, which helped a little.

I am 6 foot 180 pounds. Is there anything else I can do?

  • Advice for dating a conservative Mexican woman?

I have been trying to get into a relationship with a woman that was born and raised in rural Baja. We get along great, and right when I think I am making some progress, she goes cold...

She is very pretty, a deal older than I (30 yo vs 24 yo) and intelligent.

I have tried some romance, I ve tried my limited spanish and I ve spent A LOT of money...

I am a southern Californian and wondering if I am missing a cultural difference? How do I ask her out in the proper way?

  • Mossberg 500A, is it really an 8 shot?

I have a 500A, it was advertised as an 8 shot, but it'll only take 4 in the shot tube. Is there a stop put in there by the factory? If so, how do I remove it?

It seems like there should be room for 3-4 more shells in there as the shot tube is the same length as the barrel (19in).
