  • What could make carpet smell like this?

The carpeted area in front of our washer/dryer (also near the front door) smells strongly of wet dog, even though we don't have a dog (or any pet capable of making the carpet smell like that.) We live in a 2nd story apartment (below us is the leasing office), and the water heater is located inside the same closet as the washer/dryer. Could it be a leak from one of these things? I've never seen any kind of sign of a leak in that area. We've used mixtures ranging from borax + water, to a rubbing alcohol based cleaner, to vinegar to try and get the smell out, but nothing seems to last more than a couple days before the smell returns (we vacuum weekly.)

    Any suggestions?

  • Why aren't my contacts staying in?

I'm new to contacts- I got my eye exam a little over a month ago because I needed theatrical lenses. I just got the new contacts and since then I was practicing on prescription contacts that only last 2 weeks. Well, I know how to get them in and taken them out, but for some reason, these new contacts just won't stay on my eyes.

I've made sure they weren't inside out.

I've tried without solution and with solution.

I've tried coming at my eye from different angles.

I've tried moving the contact around once it's on my eye- the longest it stayed in was less than a minute and I could tell it didn't feel right.

Whenever I try to pull away from the contact once I've put it on my eye, there's a puffed up part in the center as if there's an air bubble there, and I've tried making sure my finger was dry and also trying with my finger moistened with solution, and it still does that (even if the contact was full of solution.) I haven't changed the way I put them in, they just aren't staying on my eye.

I'm wondering if maybe their type might have something to do with- they are theatrical lenses (but with a prescription I believe) and instead of the 2 week disposables, they are supposed to last a year.

    Help would be great!
