  • Horses with Bog Spavin?

Recently I have been looking to buy a horse. I went to look at a horse yesterday and bog spavin had come up during the discussion after trying this horse out. I did a bit of research on this and I had been wondering if a horse can be jumped with it, if it doesn't swell up that much. This horse is an OTTB; been raced lightly.

    Thanks :)

  • I have been to horse shows this year..?

I have always noticed that the pony/horse riders tend to get into the ribbons (I have seen some of them do worse than me in the show ring but still get placed higher than I) so I was thinking that was a bit unfair. I jump 2'3 and I'm 17. Do you think the judges wanted to let the younger riders win because they are younger and they don't want them to feel bad, or do they think I should be in a higher class (2'6, 2'9, etc.) with other kids my age? Give me your opinion.

    Thanks! :)

  • I was at a show yesterday...?

I was at a show yesterday and while I was back at the trailer watching my horse, my parents were at another arena watching another one of the riders ride. Afterward, my parents had told me there was a rider who had been riding in that class was screaming and whipping her horse because he refused to jump, and so this rider tried had this horse run through a jump. Why would this rider bother to do that? Would this be a form of cruelty? I know nobody did say anything about it, but I feel bad for the horse :(

  • Do some shows do this?

I recently had a horse show (about a couple weeks ago) and there was this oxer that I had to jump (I jumped 2'6) and I had the sense that it seemed a little higher than the other jumps. Do some shows usually raise a bar sometimes, or is it just what it seems?

    Thanks! :)

  • I am breaking in my new show boots?

Does anyone have any idea of how to "break in" my show boots? I have a show coming up this month and I would like them to be ready to ride in by show time.

  • Ways to strengthen my legs for riding?

Recently, I havent been keeping my legs still when riding. I fell off yesterday (have another lesson tomorrow morning) and my instructor said it was because my legs arent strong enough and I cant jump higher until my legs are stronger. Now, I can jump about 2 feet.

  • I am not exactly sure but is this correct...?

When you say breeches, do you say it BREE- or BREH-ches.

I do know how to spell breeches but I had a difficult time saying which one it is. Thanks!

    P.S. I mean riding breeches.

  • Cross Country Jumping?

Can there be shows where it's just cross country jumping or does it have to be just in Eventing?

I'm not in Eventing, but I'm in Hunter/Jumper and I'm just wondering.

  • I have been wondering for a while...?

Before I started riding english saddle, I went out and bought a pair of black breeches to start off with (since I've heard that is if I wore white, it would get really dirty and it would be hard to take all the dirt out). If I started showing soon (small shows) would I have to wear white or tan breeches?

  • What was your.......?

What was your funniest or worst moment at a show when you were getting ready to go into the ring or after you got into the ring?

I'm just bored, but I thought this would be a fun question to ask.

  • What is your favorite??????

What is your most favorite memory with horses? Bad memory? Favorite horse? What breed was your favorite horse? You may have more than one favorite horse!

My favorite memory is when I went trail riding with my dad and the saddle (western saddle) untied itself and my dad slid off the side and fell right down onto the ground. It was hilarious. The horse turned, jumped over my dad and galloped off.

My bad memory was when I was loping (canter) in a circle and I accidentally slid over to the other side of the saddle (western) and my horse and I trailed off and I fell onto the ground (including the horse) and I landed directly behind a horse (thank goodness I wasn't seen nor kicked by this horse)! We were fine and I was able to get my confidence back up again.

My favorite horse that I have ridden (the same horse that I had fallen off from above) and his name was Cash. I dont know what breed he was but my guess was probably TB, QH. I remember him by his $ sign right by his tail.

My one other favorite horse was named Mister (MR for short). He is a QH and he loves the barrels. Over a month ago, I took him at a fast lope around the barrels for the last time before his injury (I had to move to another barn to start english saddle). And I'll remember him always!

    Here's mine, what about u?

  • All of you western and english riders!!!??

I was just wondering... Tell me what you did on your first horse show or performance? What placement did you get? Did you fall? Did you have fun? Or you can tell me one of your favorite or worst shows or performances. One last question: Did you improve at your last show or performance than your first one?

  • Have yall...?

Have had expierience in switching disiplines? Right now I'm switching from western to english (and is still looking for a good english barn). What is your experience about switching? Did you feel sad or did you just felt like you need to switch? I felt like I needed more expierience and so I decided to switch to english. What disipline were you doing before and which one are you doing now? I was doing barrel racing and a little bit of pole bending. Thanks! Have fun answering these questions!
