Cross Country Jumping?

Can there be shows where it's just cross country jumping or does it have to be just in Eventing?

I'm not in Eventing, but I'm in Hunter/Jumper and I'm just wondering.

eventing---you should try it!!! lots of work, but it's worth it!!!---

here's the best I can do...

Hunter paces (check with local fox hunt)--- can be rather informal, there are usually ribbons, but it's mostly for the fun of it and as a social thing

actually going foxhunting (though it's not a competition you still get dressed up and it's formal)

some places hold 'pipe openers' or something like it--- you get to go out on xc without as many rules (there is still a course, you get to choose which level fence you want to jump, judges are there for safety not scoring, more refusals allowed)--- no prizes from the one I know, but it would probably depend

xc schooling days at farms that hold events- not judged, but sometimes still over a show course (if you're lucky)

I am an 3-day eventer, dressage, and show jumper.

Yes, there are, but it is very rare. You could just go to a cross country field and pay to school your horse over the jumps, or some eventing stables hold smal derby shows, were it is just show jumping and the cross country part, and some also hold schooling dates, were its like a show, but your only practicing.

Look at your local eventing stable sites and they may list some things if your interested.

Yes. At my stable some people compete cross-country jumping and they don't event, and we have a course for cross-country that people use when preparing for a show.

    Hope I Helped! :)

Maybe endurance or competitive trail riding. I think those two are the closest to cross country work that is judged/timed.

there is but they're not how do you say it..rated?

I'm new to eventing and i know when i showed more in hunters, jumpers, equitation, medals bla bla bla it is "rated" and "un-rated" but anyway...theyre is some but they dont count for points or anything like that. more for fun then competition.
