Okay, I have a dv5-1251nr.

When I boot up the computer into windows it hovers around 60C. When I turn off Performance and switch to Balanced it goes down 42C.

Problem is the fan stays at one speed no matter the temperature. The cooling is set to active but that seems to have no affect.

Speed-fan doesn't show throttle controls due to it being a laptop. And the HP bios sucks majorly.

Hopefully someone knows what I can do. Replacing would mean the entire Heatsink if I'm not mistaken as the fan seems to be built in.

Okay, I have taken this thing apart a few times.

I have put thermal grease and due to the heatsink not making contact with the CPU very well at all, i have put a thin layer of tinfoil.

Problem is, after it cools or I do something, not sure what I'm doing. It will run for eternity. And the temperatures are reasonable. But once I restart the machine it restarts before it even gets to the Grub loader. :/

Nothing beeps, just powers off.

Hopefully someone knows how to fix.

Will keep trying and post answer if I figure it.

Okay, I have a LiveCD in a laptop that My mom dropped which messed up the HDD and it wont Boot. So I have installed OpenSHH on Ubuntu and what not. I need a program for XP that will allow me to SHH into XP from Ubuntu. I can't do it the other way as I can't figure out the Username/Password for the LiveCD.

Okay it's out of warranty and I have already opened it to fix the disk jamming, now it's had this read problem for awhile. Rsently it has gotten worse. I put in a game but it says play DVD instead. Have to eject a lot befor it finaly says play game. Wondering if there is anything I can do to fix this. I'm thinking after 4 years the laser is getting worn out. "launch model"

Okay so i have an Xbox 360 that gets jammed whenever the Top lid is on. The model is very similar if not the same as this one.

Ok, So i install Win7 RC Build 7100 and this install is over a Vista Install. When i right click anything except start menu buttons and just the blank desktop it says Windows Explorer has stopped working. when it asks to send extra info it sends these files

OK, So my grandparents have been with Direct T.V. Since 2001 or so and they have this extremely old Receiver. The Model number on the back says "DRD42ORE"

Now Is it possible to get Direct TV Receiver to replace it with the new model? And is it free?

It has a 2GHz Single core CPU and 2GB of ram. I have XP and Vista on it. I have a Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) XI like games such as Unreal Tournament 2004 "which plays wonderfull at All High Quality" Call of Duty, And Some MORPG and Multilayer FPS.

why would overheating it and then resetting it do anything?

I Overheat the thing and then it works just fine.

until i restart it a few times.

When i am watching a video or playing DS games on my computer, for some reason the entire system slows down as the desktop refreshes.. which i believe is exploror.exe refreshing.

what could be causing it to do this every 3 minutes?

i have plenty of ram and im sure that there is not malware of any kind.

Well my mom got this from a Cartoonist on a Train Awhile Back, and i was wondering what Medium is used. and what This item is specifically. not the name of the character or anything.

Okay i Have Vista-Basic and XP-Home Dual booted. and in both the OS when i extract or Mount the ISO file that Windows 7 is in, all i get is a .txt that says

I am trying to Get Windows 7 onto a USB flash Drive.

Well i Had Vista and XP running on my computer. But Vista gave me the Blue Screen of Death when i accidently deleted an upper filter.

iTunes on my vista Partition was where i kept most of my stuff and a movie i bought.. now how do i de authorize that version of iTunes?

my XP is still running and it has iTunes on it so ya. and i authorized it to play the movie.

I don't know whats wrong with me at the moment i am extremely mad at everything but im sure later i will be happy again for awhile. all last week i was depressed with school and life in general. I even Destroyed a Pot in ceramics because i just didn't care but the next day i felt a little better and regretted it. almost anything slightly frustrating is setting my off. two days ago my friend jokingly took my Lunch, kinda messing around and i completely Flipped Threw my chips that fell of while screaming STOP IT FU$KER! At the top of my lungs and then throwing my half pint milk at Him, missing him by inches as it slammed on the window splattering everywhere. but the next day i was fine and my friend figured i was having a bad day and no hard feelings. "i left immediately afterward and saying screw lunch in my clouded mind. And now after writing this little biography i feel pretty calm. "Like i wasn't just cursing my computer for not doing something right."

But...

iT has a PCI video Card that only has...Sniff...1mb of video Ram...

Here's what happens i press the power and the xp loading screen comes up but the blue loading thing just keeps going and going...indefinitely. the computer just recently got raped by a trojan or virus or something...i wasn't there.

Any ideas?
