  • Anybody else have anaphylactic reactions to allergy shots?

I am trying to decide if I should stop getting allergy shots. I have been taking them for several years, but have had reactions to them a bunch of times, including, hives, asthma attacks, facial swelling, sinus swelling, and crushing sinus headaches. One of the last injections I had, in addition to my face swelling, asthma going nuts, I apparently went very pale and got all woozy (Blood pressure getting wonky?), I don't remember a lot of that one, except epinephrine, inject-able Benadryl, and a discussion about paramedics... Later I was told they weren't so sure they weren't going to be able to bring me out of that one. I guess I scared the crap out of everybody!

The next week they backed me down to the very beginning dose...but later, (like, 45 minutes later) I got a sinus headache and my face swelled up AGAIN. No asthma attack though. Trying to decide if I should stop getting the shots or wait on the low dose and see if it stops...

  • Why do some people feel so threatened by others education choices?

Are we really so insecure about the choices we make that we see someone else's children's successful education career as being a condemnation of our own choices?

If I state my children are doing well as homeschoolers...this is not a condemnation of those who have chosen a different path for their children. If I state my children have gotten a compliment, I am not claiming my kids are perfect! I simply choose to accentuate the positive, an not dwell on the negative! Why do people jump to such absurd conclusions?

  • What is the best way to deal with mice in your house?

We haven't had mice in the house for ages...but we had the cat put down about 2 years ago, and I just got a surprise under the kitchen sink! Apparently, mice got into the suet cakes I got for the bird feeder out back...shiver! I DON'T DO VERMIN!!!

So...what is the best way to make the little beasties go elsewhere? I cleaned under the cabinet, and picked up covered traps (had bad, BAD mojo with the wood cheap traps...the mouse dragged it around, blood everywhere...eiwww). Kitchen is clean...trash is out. I disinfected the kitchen top to bottom (massively freaked me out!) Anyone use an exterminator? What do they do? I don't like the idea of poison baits, and dead mice in the walls...

Anything shy of getting another cat...my asthma doc would freak!

    Thanks all!
