  • Evolution is fact. Why so is that so hard to accept?

The evidence to support evolution of species and life is overwhelming.

From the cosmos to fossil records, the abundance of proof for gradual change and adaptation of single cell organisms to complex creatures are undeniable and irrefutable. It has been proven that all living things on this planet share common genes regardless of type and form. Everything is relative.

But why do creationists still insist that evolution is only a 'theory'? That it should be presented only as another alternative explanation to the origin of life beside the genesis story?

Despite all the facts in plain view, why is it so hard to understand, think and accept?

Im not looking to disrespect but only to comprehend the reasons for dismal of evidence by creationist communities.

  • Christians, think about this?

    Hypothetically,i say god exist.

He is of course by description omniscient and omnipotent.

You say god has a divine plan that in which all of us,everyone that ever was or ever will be, have a part to play in it.

We know of the plan. But,we do not know how it will be executed.

However,we are told to pray. For what reason?

God made his plan since the begining of time. He is omniscient and thus, he is not absent minded. Nothing escapes his knowledge. So then why pray? Wouldn't praying be a form of persuation for god to do what you want and provide for you?

You may say that the prayer might have been in god's plan but why would he need you to tell him what you want? Since he is omniscient he can see through your thoughts and into your heart. And he alone should know what you truely require without you having to breathe even one word. And as he is omnipotent he can provide if he is willing. But does pausing all the mechanics and laws of the univers to attend to one single person not seem favouring?

Shouldn't we all be treated the same and our prayers answered aswell?

The plan would be so much fullfiling if we didn't know about it. And even more so if we didn't know about god himself. For then there would be no wishful thoughts and blasphemy. The ignorance towards a god would make the plan failproof.

So, why do you believe that a being so powerful and almighty needs to be influenced with prayer? A being who's mind cannot be changed...

  • Fellow atheists, does this sound familiar?

This is the equivalent of a faith-head trying to throw their beliefs on me:

FH; hello...did you know you are starving?

    me: errr...what?

FH: you are hungry, you need food...i have just the thing for you. do you know this?

me: dude,i have a healthy diet and im not at all hungry!whatever!

FH: you are denying your cravings for this nourishment, your body will turn against you and you will die painfully...unless, u accept it as your new and only nutrition. don't take your body for granted. you NEED this. it will make you happier...ACCEPT IT! NOW!!!! before it is too late, and you start to suffer...

thats exactly how a religious person's convincing sounds!

Clearly you have nothing useful to argue, but just a petty guilt trip.

  • Why would an omnipotent being need a day to rest?

    Seriously?

The fact that the Bible stated that God rested on the seventh day directly points out that his omnipotence is questionable. Since he is not affected by the passing of time, his abilities are immeasurable, meaning they cannot expire. And since his powers cannot run out, the same applies to the vessel that is God himself. Therefore coming to the conclusion that the need of rest for an omnipotent being is completely useless.

  • If the snake was really so evil then why...?

Why wasn't the species completely eradicated in the global storm (Noah's Arc) ?

  • Religion afraid of criticism?

Why is it the religious communities find it totally in their rights to question and criticize any aspect of society without remorse BUT disapprove and forcefully reject critics made against their teachings and beliefs?

I mean, isn't it in everyone's right for freedom of speech?

what makes religious communities think they should be immune to that?

  • The irony of religious freedom?

Fierce religious practices such as the Muslim faith and traditional Christianity find it offensive when their beliefs and practices are questioned or debated by sources with different opinions.

Publicized comics or humorous jokes and generally, anything 'disrespecting' their lifestyle habits is considered blasphemous, immoral and should be treated as 'attacks' on their religious community.

The irony here is that the same religious people who immaturely revoke personal attacks are by law, under Religious Freedom (a sub-partition of Freedom of speech, Freedom of Media etc) have the right to publicly insult homosexuals, race, gender and even other religious communities with views different from theirs under the right of religious freedom.

The fact that religious people think they should be immune from general treatment from media and the public (as any politician or celebrity has to endure) is truly silly and sickening.

Should we then start supplying Muslims with explosives and Christians with guns?

Because im sure if they murder each other it'll be in their rights of freely expressing their religious dogma!

  • Christians, what about the 'Perfect Plan'?

According to christians, god is all knowing and does nothing by chance or coincidence. Everything he does is calculated to perfection due to his awesome ability to know everything that has,is and ever will happen in the whole universe.

before there was god, there wasn't anything. he created the heavens and the earth. and he also fabricated a Plan. a perfect plan for all his creations. he calculated everything to the most absolute detail. nothing could ever go wrong.

so my question comes here...what is the purpose of prayer if nothing happens by accident?

you really think that your prayer asking god for anything will actually work? that he will compromise his 'perfect plan' just for the your sake?...

    Toyota AE86 project. Parts suggestion?

i know there might be some experts on here so i need your help!

im starting a project on the AE86 and we have decided to swap the stock engine with a 4AGZE.

which transmission (gearbox and all) will fit this engine (since a stock one will not be able to cope with the 300bhp + we are aiming for) and be able to deliver maximum power?

also,do i need to replace the rear axel with a more powerful one?if yes, which do you suggest?

    thanks in advance!

  • Doesn't this seem like the TRUE purpose of life?

I would just like to share my view on what i believe is the only and most plausible purpose of human life on this planet. Its not about seeking eternal life or chasing perfection. This is what i think:

The true purpose of life is to give life and sustain it.

    what do you think?

  • People of faith, why do you say that you are not superstitious...?

...when you believe in imaginary things just like fortune tellers and mediums do?

you condemn those people as liars and scams when you do the exact same thing: believe in something that no body can ever know if it exists or not!

doesn't that seem weird to you?

  • Free-will dilemma...?

According to Christians, God is omnipotent. He is all-knowing and all-mighty. Nothing happens by simple coincidence because God controls everything...and God has a plan for all of us.

However, ha gives us something called 'free-will'. The freedom to make choices. Choose between right and wrong. But here is the flaw:

    - Since God has a plan for all of us, since nothing happens by chance, how does that affect the choices you make?

Everything is already 'written'. So anything you ever do is what was supposed to be done. God is not absent minded. Nothing you do can catch him off guard for he knows everything that was,all that is and all that will ever be.

Now, why do you think that your choices are actually yours? God has already decided for you! He has written down your life! You are just doing things that were prepared for you. When you feel good about yourself for choosing your girlfriend over the hot chick at the party it was not your free-will...it was already decided for you!

Furthermore, this makes the concept of God testing people completely absurd.

If a creator already knows everything you will ever do, what is the purpose of testing you when he knows every possible outcome that may result?

What is the purpose of a choice if there is none?

What is the purpose of free-will if it has already been decided?

Also, idea of being good and doing good deeds to acquire a place in heaven is also to no use since God knows by a million years who will enter his kingdom. So,deciding to walk away from a history of wrong doing and converting to the church will not change your fate for that choice was not yours...it was your God's. Nothing you do will ever change how you will end up.

That is, if you believe in God.

  • 30,000 year old canine skulls...?

Christians, since you believe that the earth is no older than 6000 years old and blah blah blah...heres a little info for you, just for thought:

it has been discovered that 30,000 years ago men domesticated dog before they farmed animals for meat and skin!

the digs were conducted in Siberia and Belgium. Researchers from the University of Arizona said the skulls had shorter snouts and wider jaws unlike the species of wolves we have these days. That suggests the dogs had been kept for protaction and companionship by our ancestors - just as they are today.

    makes you think,don't it?

    LOL
