sense of humour (sick), scientific, technical but only 'work' for money when i have to, then troubleshoot control systems of processes and machines, get bored too easily. enjoy teaching people to enjoy flying gliders and scuba, as long as it is not full time. no obligations, no responsibilities and no ambitions happier than anyone outside a mental hospital i like bugs, bacteria, spiders, snakes, jellyfish and other cuddly things. hate cruelty, cold weather, glossy computers and their users, flashy GUI's, bells and whistles, fashions, pseudo aesthetics (form follows function), (anaesthetics are more interesting) google is my god
Prevented paying full amount owed on credit card - corporation tactic to screw you?
I only use credit (in the form of a credit card) because it is the only way to hire cars etc.
I usually pay up many weeks before due date because I can and also because I never want to pay a penalty for absentmindedly forgetting.
Nearly always I am unable to pay the full amount of the last "cycle" (on line) even though my "last transaction" would be older than a week it is not "payable."
"Magically" if I pay the maximum amount I can, the "last transaction" will appear (on line) the next day (and will be payable.)
Is this just a strategy so I have to do a payment every month, so that if I should miss a month (minimal "last transaction" less than $9 say) I will incur a $15 penalty (and if they wish to, they can increase the debit interest rate) should I ever get into a debit situation?
When this situation occurs (the short billing) I always pay the "extra 10%" I am allowed to, but this sometimes does not cover the "last transaction."
Once I paid the "full amount" - did not use the card for 8+ weeks so I did not bother to check my account, because I assumed I had paid the "full amount" $15 PENALTY FOR A $2 DEBT!!!!
Now, I am forced to do 2 payments.on consecutive days to avoid this theft.
Does anyone know if this tactic is intentionally programmed in?
The FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION'S (FTC) budget should be doubled every year to protect us from corporate thieves. Bush reduced it every year.
SOCIALISM BUT ONLY FOR THE VERY RICH.
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics9 years agoWhen one washes fruit or vegetables should one use detergent?
Are the pesticides they use in the later part of the growing season, water soluble or are they designed to resist washing off by rain etc.
Also if one has an unblemished green pepper, should one also wash the inside.
Also if I remove all the outer leaves of a fairly tight head of lettuce, should I still wash the "internal" leaves.
An honest observant vegetable farmer may be the best qualified to answer this.

20 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoRecently there have been lower US casulties in Iraq because.....?
(although there are now more troops there) there are less (risky) patrols and missions sent out on street patrols etc
This was instigated because (for political reasons) "they" want it to appear that the "war" is "being won" (and this is the present perception by the "press" and the US public." (Of course, in the long term this will not work.)
Where can one find data to determine how true this statement is ? (since for "security" reasons the military do not release such data)
What is your opinion of the truth of this statement ?
And do you believe that the present administration would ever stoop so low ? (bearing in mind their exemplary previous honest actions)

22 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agobats living in roof space--is the following true?
a friend of mine (a pest exterminator) once told me that
in any well enclosed dark (important) space (roof or deep narrow cave) that bats live in, always has a small hole facing west (where the sun sets) to enable the bats to know when it is getting dark
this may or may not be the entrance /exit
he claimed that covering that hole was more effective (easier and more humane) in getting rid of the bats (long term) than covering the entrance
any ideas on this?
