  • What are some good, inexpensive soprano ukuleles?

I'm looking for a fairly good quality soprano ukulele for under $35. I'm not sure if it's the instrument for me, but I'm really interested so I'd like to get something cheap before spending more money. But again, I still want something that will sound nice so I get a good idea of the instrument myself. Does anyone have any suggestions on places to buy, brands, or specific ukes? Thanks!!

  • Is a ukulele easier than a guitar?

My parents bought me a guitar for my high school graduation a while back. I was so excited because I love the guitar and really wanted to learn it, but since I've gotten it I've had the hardest time. I'm small and have really tiny hands, abnormally small pinky (runs in the family), and it's so hard for me to reach the chords. Hard to the point it actually hurts. Granted I haven't had any professional lessons so maybe there is a trick to the position, but I'm discouraged. So I've been thinking of getting a ukulele instead. Would it be easier to play, easier for my small hands? Thanks!

  • What can I do in Occupational Therapy?

I'm fairly new to Occupational Therapy, but my therapist asked what I would like to start doing in the next session. Last time decided I was going start a herb garden (which I could care less about, but she seemed excited so I just went along). So she asked me to come up with something that I've been wanting to do for a while but maybe didn't know how to or how to proceed. I have no idea of even what types of things I should be thinking of. I know you don't know anything about me, but I'm just looking for broad ideas to get me on the right track. Thanks!

  • What is the possible sentence for a minor who commits second degree, voluntary manslaughter?

    (this is for research)

What is the possible sentence for a juvenile (probably around 14 yrs old) who commits voluntary, second degree manslaughter in Texas?

In case I don't have the terms right, the basic situation is a juvenile, being provoked and defending himself and someone close to him, intended serious bodily harm on the victim and accidentally ended up killing him. Is a sentence carried out and then the felon released, is parole more common? I realize it depends on each specific case, the judge, etc., but I just want the basic overview.

  • Who, What, Where, When, Why — does order matter?

We know the 5 "W's". You always hear them rattled off in this order. Is the order because of a specific reason or is it just that it's considered easiest to say/common?

  • Is this allowed for a writing contest?

I want to enter a writing contest in which I can send in 1500 words from a work-in-progress or from a previous work. (The contest is to win a further evaluation on a manuscript, allowing me up to 12 mos. to complete it if it's not already done.)

I haven't come very far in my intended manuscript, so I was thinking of sending in part of a short story I had published in a college magazine. I think it's some of my best work, but a) it's too long to send in the whole thing, so would it seem odd since it's a short story, and b) do you think that would be considered under the "previous work" or not allowed? thanks!

  • Daydreaming; Is this a personality disorder?

I struggled with loneliness as a child, living in a small town, isolated, didn't have a consistent friend until I was 10 yrs old, which only lasted about 1-2 yrs & then ended badly because I had jealously issues.

I grew up with imaginary friends and could spend hours outside entertaining myself, pretending to be someone/somewhere else. I was overly attached to dolls and stuffed animals, often crying because I could never choose between more than two to take with me on trips; I thought I'd hurt one of their feelings if I left one behind. To this day (I'm 20), I still have a fondness for dolls and stuffed animals and can easily imagine myself reverting back to being a child and "believing" they are real. I know, it honestly creeps even me out a little.

I love reading and TV. I can identify with fictional characters; I make stories in my head revolving around my favorite characters and put myself into the story as a character. I do this almost 24/7, when I'm alone, when I'm bored, when I'm part of a group but not talking to anyone, when I'm trying to fall asleep, etc. I've done this pretty much for as long as I can remember.

I can imagine conversations in my head between myself and other people, or imagine scenarios. Ex: if I'm nervous about something, I'll think of how the conv. might go, and often it turns bad & in my imagination I'll get angry with the person, and then before even talking to this person in RL I feel anger towards them.

Is this odd loneliness or more?

  • Should I call in sick?

I had to call in sick this past Saturday and Monday. I thought it was a severe cold at first, but no I think it s turned into the flu. On Sunday/Monday I was so weak I was in physical pain and felt plain crummy. My weakness has gotten a bit better, but tonight I started running a low grade fever and feel out of it and icky. However, as I ve said, I ve already called in twice to work for being sick and I told my boss that I would be in tomorrow morning even though I wasn t on the schedule. Now I m feeling like I should cancel and go see a doctor, but I just feel really bad. The store I work for has a policy that we re suppose to call in sick if we show signs of the flu, but no one else follows it - they almost always "tough it out" and come to work anyway. I m just worried they will get uber annoyed with me (I m not worried about getting fired, I m leaving this job in 3 weeks b/c I m moving), but I just feel really bad. What should I do?! :(

  • Going back to school after a brain injury/PTSD?

(This question is geared towards those who also have depression, anxiety, etc., or have had brain trauma/PTSD.)

When I was younger it was my dream to go to college. Then I turned 13 and I had an accident that involved brain injury and ended up having surgery. Finishing high school was really hard — I had a hard time solving problems, studying, and taking tests. I struggle with migraines, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, concentration, memory, work loads, etc. It's a bit of a mess. So, I gave up on my dream of college. I've been graduated from HS for a year now, and that yearning to at least take online college is back, even if I just start small and take classes here and there. However, I'm terrified I'll spend the money and find out I can't handle it. I'm a perfectionist and when I have a hard time handling something that use to be easy for me and is easy for others, I can become depressed. At the same time, I can't seem to quell the desire for college. Has anyone had similar experiences but still ended up going to college? What helped you? How did you cope with day to day tasks that your depression/trauma now made difficult?
