  • Marshall Saddlery - English saddle?

I have a saddle that I am trying to find info on.

I bought it at a "great deal" 20 years ago...problem was - and still is - it does not fit me or my horses.

Does anyone have a link or some where to find info on

Marshall Saddlery - of England ?

Google brings up treeless and western Bob Marshall saddles...no I did not go thru the zillion hits...

Does anyone have a Marshall English saddle?

  • Why use a harsh bit if the horse is trained properly?

If your horse is trained to respond to "the slightest touch" then WHY use a spade or other "harsh in the wrong hands" bit???

I have never been able to understand the logic...

I see it as either a lack of training ...or you are asking (forcing - with pain as the punishment) the horse to do something UN natural.

Please don't tell me that it is only harsh if used in the wrong hands - that would mean that the rider using it believes they are 100% perfect - and we all know there is no such thing.

  • Does anybody use a bit adapter to longe?

There was a recent Q on here and I was amazed that no one suggested it.

It is so much easier! You can change direction without having to stop the horse and "re thread" the line - gives pressure to the bit evenly with no pressure on the poll - simply snaps onto the bit rings and has a ring to attach the longe line in the center - and costs about $10.

I can't be the only one using it...

  • Boarders' mare appears pregnant - milk dripping...?

I am NOT a breeder - A mare boarded here has a big tummy...that is harder than the other horses. Her teats are larger than the other mares here and during grooming yesterday (teat cleaning) they sprayed what appears to be milk.

She has been uncharachteristacally grumpy for a few weeks and we "joke" that she looks and acts pregnant.

She bounced around three barns before coming here in April - and has gained weight - only in her midsection..

Owner says she was with geldings at previous barn, but there was a horse that MAY not have been gelded - His owner had been looking for a barn to take him as a stallion, none would - so everyone was told he was gelded - no one is sure.

I am not set up for foaling or foals

Any way I can be sure if she is preggers?

  • How to desensitize a horse to Cows??

I live in an area with a lot of cows...

I have a horse that is TERRIFIED of cows. He is fine on trails...untill he spots a cow - then he loses his mind. He tries to deal with it and tries to be a good boy...but God forbid the cow moves - he bolts.

All his barn friends (7 other horses) were with him - moving calmly past the grazing cows - he still couldn't hold it together.

Other than buying a cow - any tips?
