Question about reputable dog breeders?
My FIL and I have come to a disagreement about true reputable breeders. I say a true reputable breeder will have their dogs tested for health issues and genetic issues. A reputable breeder will give a health guarantee (not to say a pup won't develop something, but that the parents have been tested etc.). I understand a lot of breeders will have you sign a contract, discuss the living conditions of where the puppy will go, etc. Here is where the disagreement comes in - if the dog has a health guarantee for hip dysplasia, and the dog develops hip dysplasia, even though the dog has been tested and certified, will the breeder be willing to take the dog back?

i have been taking tri-previfem (the pill) for about a month and a half. i am on the second week of the second pack. during the first month on the pill, i had my period (in which i started the pack) and two weeks later i bled for two days (heavier than spotting, but not really heavy, no cramps only 2 days then completely gone). my husband and i had unprotected sex last week (march 17-march 20) in which he came inside every time. Now, a week later, i feel like i am on my period, but i am not. i also have very thick white discharge. sorry tmi, but im just curious, is this from my birth control or could it be something else? thanks!

2 AnswersValentine's Day1 decade agoHow to tone my stomach?
3 years ago I had twins...i lost all but 10 pounds from my pregnancy. About a year and a half later I ended up gaining 30 pounds...then through diet and exercise lost half of that. I have recently gone back to dieting and exercise...and just joined a gym. I am doing the cardio cycling class and will try zumba class. Also I have a few workout dvds at home...some that target my abs. I am back to my prepregnancy weight...which I am happy with. My problem is...being pregnant with twins really stretched out my skin and I'm wondering what else I can do to tone my stomach and tighten that area? Any advice would be great thanks.
5 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoAny advice on a biting toddler?
I have twin boys who will be 3 in November. They used to bite eachother, and we managed to stop the behavior by having them bite a teether when they got angry...it worked, for a while. now, one of my sons bites his brother...over toys, a seat on the couch, or just because. the teether doesnt work, time out doesnt phase him, i do not hit or bite them back...sorry i believe i need to set an example for them to understand better. i also explain to him how it upsets me and hurts brother, but the biting continues. does anyone have any suggestions on other ways to get him to stop biting...he has very sharp teeth and leaves bad marks on my other son, has even drawn blood.
6 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agowhy is he doing this?
my mom's 7 yr old parakeet started acting different a few days ago. all of a sudden he has started pecking at the bottom corner of his cage, and if there is paper lining the bottom of the cage, he tries to eat it, even though he has always had paper in it. Sometimes he will be "hunched" in his corner, but when you go up to the cage and talk to him he gets back on his perch and becomes active as if nothing is wrong. he never used to spend any time on the floor of his cage. Any ideas?
4 AnswersBirds1 decade agoCan anyone tell me....?
i live in the state of florida. i have 2 1/2 twin boys who were fathered by a 'dead beat'. he was abusive to my dogs and me, he made threats while i was pregnant, etc. i broke up with him while i was pregnant, and because of his threats, i felt it necessary for him to not be at the hospital when the babies were born. from the time they were born, we were told he has rights because we know he is the father and because doctor's records show his name as the father. so we made it clear to him, if he wants to see them, he needs to make the effort. so it started as a half hour once a month, and increased to an hour twice a month (this is all the time he wants with them, there is no other communication of effort for him to see them) now i am married to a man who was involved in my children's lives since they were 7 months old, we went to a lawyer to find out how to go about with him adopting my children. he said because my 'sperm donor' is not on the birth certificate, never took any legal action for custody or child support, and never claimed to be the biological father with the florida putative father registry, that technically, the father of my children is unknown. we went through with the adoption, and the judge granted it, so all the paper work says my husband is now the father and their last names have been changed (they had my maiden name as their last). my mother is worried that because the 'sperm donor' was not notified, that when he does catch wind of this, he will be able to take this to court claiming he was never notified. can he do this? would he really be able to take it to court and be able to say he was notified even though the only thing stating he is the father is my doctor's records when i was pregnant? and can anything happen even though the papers show they have been adopted by my husband?
5 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoDoes anyone know the florida law on this?
I live in the state of florida...My "sperm donor" is not on the birth certificate of my twin boys. He has never paid a dime in child support, and we have never gone to court. I decided from the time my children were born that i want nothing from him, because i want him to have nothing to do with my children (he was abusive to my dogs and me, he wouldnt stop the drug use, he wouldnt get a job, etc.). However, my mother was told by two lawyers that she knows peronally, that because we know he is the father, he has a right to see the children. I went to my own lawyer, and was told that because he is not on the birth certificate, and he never filed a claim saying he believe the children are his, he has no rights, and technically, in the court system, the father is "unknown".
now that the children are 2 1/2 years old, i have married the man that has been in my children's lives since they were 7 months old. we also went to court and the judge granted my husband to adopt the children. after i told this to my mother, she feels that becasue we do know who the father is, because in my doctor's records it states who the father is, he should have been notified that this was going on.
i know that what's done is done, and the boys have been adopted by my husband, but i am curious as to if anyone knows...
Who is right? my lawyer or her two lawyers?
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoDoes anyone have some advice?
so, i had twin boys 2 1/2 years ago, with an abusive guy who wanted me to get an abortion. I decided against it, and because of the abuse, ended the relationship. however, after the babies were born, he would call my mom once a month to see them (she would take them so i didnt have to deal with him). he would only see them for like a half an hour and lose interest. as they got a little bit older, he would start asking to see them twice a month, for no longer than an hour each visit. he would also tell all his friends that i was keeping him from his "kids", however, it was clearly said to him, if he wants to see them, it is up to him to make the call, not us. My mother knows two lawyers and told me they told her that i need to keep doing these visits, even though he doesnt pay a penny towards child support, doesnt have a job, and is constantly f*cked up on drugs (which mommy and daddy pay for). so for two and a half years, i have allowed it to go on. In the meantime, i met someone, who i love and care for, and who treats my boys as his own. a few months ago we talked to a lawyer who said that if he wants to adopt my children, we would first have to get married. then they could search to see if "sperm donor" ever claimed to be the father. we decided we were ready to get married and go through with this. we decided it be best to keep everything quiet until after the coturt date, because there are too many people that still associate with "sperm donor". Our court date was last thursday, and the judge approved the adoption. Today we told my mother, and i explained to her everything, and told her we are excited about this, and are sorry that we had to keep it from them. i know my mother is hurt because i kept it secret. i also believe that she has been given false information, she believes the sperm donor should have been notified that this was going on, however, our lawyer said that because he was not on the birth certificate and did not pay child support, and because we have never gone to court over the children, and that he did not register himself as the father, legally the father is unknown.
my question is this...does anyone have any advice on how to talk to my mom and open her eyes to see why i felt this was the right way to go? I am not saying there are any doubts here, but at least i can say that even if we ended up not staying together for the rest of our lives, i could trust my husband around the children and know there will always be a bond between him and the boys. i am able to finally say i can trust them with their father (i worried every time they would have a visit with "sperm donor" because of the amount of abuse in the past)
i am also kind of wondering if anyone knows anything about the legal system in the state of florida? my lawyer read information out of his book, and my mother claims two lawyers that she knows told her different.
thanks for any input
3 AnswersOther - Family & Relationships1 decade agoExperience with American Bulldogs?
Okay, so my family and I moved into an apartment, and I had to give up my two pit mixes (they allow ANY other breed, just nothing with pits). I am looking for a dog, and I will definately go to the shelter. Here in Central Florida, there are a lot of American Bulldogs in the shelters (probably second most right behind pits). So I have done some research, I think they are beautiful dogs. I also have twin boys who are 2 1/2 with tons of energy, so getting a dog with energy is perfect for us, plus i am a stay at home mom and involve my pets with our lives. I was just wondering if anyone has had any personal experiences about the breed, plus I am continuing to do some research. Any advice or stories? Thanks!

4 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agoWhat is a good apartment breed?
I am moving into an apartment soon, so I couldn't take my pits (breed restrictions). I was wondering if anyone has any insight as to what breed is a good breed for an apartment. There isn't a weight limit, but our apartment is kind of small, so I would like to stick with a small or medium sized breed (preferably medium). Also, I have 2 1/2 year old twins.
11 AnswersDogs1 decade agohow can i get my dogs to be more people friendly?
i have two 3-yr old pit bull mixes. They were well socialized with other people when they were younger However, my ex was abusive to us, so they have been through and seen a lot of things. They used to be well behave around people, that is until i found out i was pregnant. while i was pregnant, they became protective over me (this is around the time that the abuse started for me...it was going on whenever he was home with them and i was not). now, 2 and a half years later, and abuse free, my dogs are still protective over me, and even more so of my children. they are extremely friendly with people they know, and they are okay with new people...it just takes them a while to trust strangers...especially men. i was hoping people had some tips on how to break the aggressiveness. i know part of the reason is the abusive past, because they used to be around several different people throughout the day, but i would really like to break this. any tips would be great, please no BS answers just because they are pits. even the friendliest of breeds show aggressivness
