Estate claims dismissed?
My wife is admininstering her dad's estate. He had a few claims turned in against the estate that are $50,000+ plus. My wife owns her dad's former businesses and he had given her his business real estate years ago but never got them deeded to her. we finally got the real estate deeded in her name. The only thing the estate has left is the house and a car and some personal items. All together, we can probably get $150,000 out of everything. However, the house has a $95,000 mortgage on it. The claims are from as far back as 20 years ago and most recently about 2002 or 2003. Our attorney says they will be dismissed because they are older than six years? is this correct? Can those claimants try to seek the land that was just transferred, although it was given legally several years ago?
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics9 years agoWife Refusing To Stop Calling Male Friend?
For the past 16 years of our marriage, my wife has "preached" that men and woman cannot be friends at work and has completed insisted that all relationships at work be professional and that "friendly" talk does not occur without "friendly" relationships developing and those would not and should not take place in places where I've worked. That's hard to do. I've worked in professional management settings and to not ask someone about their weekend or about their family or if they've had a nice vacation of Christmas is pretty hard to do. But I've resisted that and that "cold" attitude has not bode well for me at these jobs because I come across as not caring.
I'm in a non-management position now and work out of town. My wife has lost some staff at her business and is trying to make do with what little staff she has. Over the summer, two men (one in his early 20s and one in his late 40s) volunteered to help with her work. In fact, she became involved very quickly in participating in the radio show they were doing on Friday nights. I was told I wasn't allowed to be around her business while this show was on the air and wasn't allowed to interact with these two men. In fact, the first time I met them was at her father's funeral.
I discovered on a recent cell phone bill that she calls the older of the men 5-6 times a day and at one point racked up over 60 hours in one recent month (which was about 28 hours more than she talked to me -- her husband). I became quite upset and have tried to have discussions about this. She doesn't see that she's doing exactly what she forbade me to do for the past 16 years.
But because it's her doing it she tells me that I'm trying to "put her in a box" and "limit" what she does and who she interacts with. Her father, who ran the business and was a daily fixture, is dead and she is by herself a majority of the day.
She says she talks with this man because they have "radio broadcasting" in common and she wants to pass the time. She does call me some, but it always upsets me to see where she has called this man during the day.
She calls him about 70 percent of the time and he calls her about 30 percent of the time.
I get very jeolous of this because she won't seem to understand why this upsets me. If it were an issue of me talking to a woman that amount of time, I can assure you she would be quick to address this situation and she would make it known to me that if it did not stop, there would be repercussions.
However, I pointed out to her last night that I have brought this to her attention on several occassions and she still refuses to stop calling him.
I don't have a problem with either of the men helping her with her business (which they do without pay) but I think the calls should be kept to a minimum only when she needs to schedule a broadcast or maybe to ask a question.
However, calling 5-6 times a day, six days a week is not about just asking a question. It's become an obsession on her part and it makes me feel very angry that she continues to do this even after I've shared my feelings with her. I've even pointed out that if I were to have a female caller doing the same thing with me, she would be furious and she agrees with that.
So what are my options and can you let me know what I should do -- if anything.
I'm afraid if I don't say anything, she'll think I don't care and continue -- but that's backfired because it seems the more I tell her that I don't like it, the more she does it.
She doesn't have sexual feelings for the man and I don't believe he does for her. She if very beautiful and 42. We have several beautiful and healthy children and attend church on a regular basis.
However, I don't want to limit her the way she's limited me over the years -- I just don't feel like what she's doing is appropriate.
19 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoWorkplace issues over getting to work on time?
I am a web/creative designer currently working in the construction industry. Our business hours are 7a-5p. I commute about 45 minutes and made it clear that i could arrive at work as close to 8a as possible, especially with getting 3 young children dressed, prepared for school and on to school. The last year, we had a high school senior who drove them to school and I still made it to work 2-3 minutes late each day. Sometimes more depending on the weather or traffic. I've probably been asked 3-4 times about making sure I improved my arrival times and it was left at that. By the way, I"m a salaried employee. Last year, I was given over to the VP of the company as my supervisor and meet with him weekly to go over work. He is a former Army guy and is very anal. He has no children. When I arrive a few minutes late I always take the time from lunch and I always stay 10-15 minutes after 5p. About 2 weeks ago, I was asked to start making sure I was coming in before 8a because the president of the company was watching. Ok. I did. So then 3 days after that, I get a call saying that I needed to start punching a time card. My Spidey-Sense is tingling that something is up with my position here at work and they are putting my neck in a noose waiting for them to give an excuse to fire me over being late for work. I would love to know if I'm just being overly paranoid or if there is something else driving this. I've noticed a bit of standoffishness with the VP lately and that only ads to my paranoia. Any thoughts.
5 AnswersSmall Business1 decade agoWife spending too much time with new office volunteer?
My wife is operating her business by herself after her dad passed away. I continue to work in my job but help her 10 percent of my day as well as do work for her at night. Most of the technical work that is done is by me. Last spring, two guys from another radio station contacted her about doing an evening show. She blew them off for weeks and finally called them and they offered to help her and do the show for free. When her dad was alive, he wanted her to stay at the business to make sure they were legit and also to make sure they didn't hurt any of the equipment or steal anything. From that first night, she got hooked and started becoming a regular on the program, in fact so much that they changed the name of the three hour program. I got a little upset at first, because Friday night's were our date night. Over the past few months, one of the guys calls my wife during her business hours (and after) on her cell phone quite a bit. I just happened to check our phone records because we went over our plan minutes two months ago and she talks to this guy on the cell phone more than she talks to me. I was livid. After a semi-confrontation with her, she became completely upset and said that I didn't trust her and that she was only talking business. She justifies it because I work at a business with two women (who are office staff and I only deal with them on a strictly business level and never ever call them after hours or on weekends). Just an example, last Saturday night we attended a local dinner. My wife has to staff the radio station and gets one of the guys (the one she talks to all the time) to come down and work the program that's on the air, so we can go to the dinner. At 9p (which is when the shift would be over) she starts looking at her watch and i could tell she's getting nervous. She says it's because she wants to make sure that the station gets closed down properly but I just know she's obsessed with talking to this guy. So we went to pick up one of our daughters from a party and the whole time she's acting nervous and then she finally says she needs to call him. OK, call him. I understand as a business owner that you should call and say, OK, how was the shift? Everything OK. Got the transmitters shut down? Got the door locked? Ok, thanks. Talk to you next week. But that's not just all that goes on. She laughs, he tells her what he's had for dinner and what he's doing, etc. and I just think that's not professional and compeltely more of a personal call. Now, if I was on the phone to a gal at my work talking and chit-chatting about this and that, my wife would be busting a valve and filing divorce papers. But when she's doing it, it's ok. So I'm waiting this out to see what happens. Our sex life is still good, 2-3 times a week and we still go out once a week to dinner and shopping or a movie.

1 AnswerProgramming & Design1 decade agoMy wife could have low blood sugar?
My wife, earlier in her life, was anoerexic and bulemic and still "controls" her weight with suppositories. at one point, a university wanted to study her because she had hurt her body to the point she got hives from being cold. severe hives. they said her electrolytes were off and this caused her hiving. it doesn't happen as frequently or as severe as they used to.
she currently continues to have headaches, blurred vision, etc. and someone suggested that she might have low blood sugar. she avoids sugar like a cat avoids water.
everything she eats is either no-sugar or sweetened with substitutes. no donuts. no sugar creamer in her coffee. diet cokes. nothing. she will from time to time eat a cake or pastry. but i'm not sure if it lasts long in her system.
any thoughts?

4 AnswersCredit1 decade agoAccounting Question Regarding Broadcast TV Station Sale?
Let's say someone was selling a TV station. Are there rules that govern where the money is spent (such as on something broadcasting related) or can the money be spent on anything?
Also, what kind of tax would be collected on the sale of something like this? And what options would there be to avoid paying taxes.

2 AnswersBasketball1 decade agosemen leaking during sex -- getting older?!!?
I'm 40 and when my wife and I have sex, i find that i'm leaking semen a bit before i actually ejaculate. it's almost like bleading off a pressure valve. a few times, i haven't had as much "steam" left, as what I would have had i not been leaking.
Is this related to health problems, middle age, prostate trouble? just curious. i notice that i have trouble getting to the bathroom from time to time.
I also notice that my erections aren't as large and firm as they once were a year or so ago.
is this the start of "mid life crisis".

3 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoam i wrong, right or left out?
is my wife putting our daughter first .. over everything else? We were supposed to go vehicle shopping Saturday and Sunday. I just started a new job and drive about 40 minutes away. I was driving my old 1993 Ford Ranger last week when we had a snow and ice storm. i was stuck and hung up 3-4 times and had to be towed out. I don't have heat and the left turn signals don't work. It has almost 150k and my wife said when i got a new job, we'd get a different vehicle. she wants a 4x4 and i still want a truck because we do a lot of hauling, landscaping, etc. saturday my wife said nothing about vehicle shopping, so i let it go. sunday, my daughters brought it up and i thought after church we might go. however, my 16 year old said she wanted to go look for prom dresses and while they spent 1 hour in the dress shop, i was relegated to visiting all the closed car lots in town (small town Indiana) and when i returned to chat about the trucks i'd seen, i was informed we bought a $316 dress and were going straight home. I just felt a little confused about what the day was supposed to be about. This isn't the first time my daughter has taken first place in the family and it's getting a bit old.
1 AnswerSingles & Dating1 decade agochurch projector/Video help?
we recently moved our church a/v equipment to the back of the church to coordinate it in one area. when we did, we mounted the projector to the ceiling and ran an RCA composite cable from the video out in the back of the projector to a switcher in the back and then to the computer. however, we haven't been able to get the power point presentation to show on the screen. If we buy a 100' VGA cable to run between the computer and the projector, will this solve our problems? Or is there another solution. We're obviously not getting a good signal with the RCA cable.
