Hello, all! This is Raindrops_on_Roses, and if you clicked on me, I'm hoping it's because you either liked my questions or answers! Here is the stuff that I like and will *probably* be answering/asking about: Music: My top 6: Alice Cooper, Vanessa Carlton, Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, Tokio Hotel and Avril Lavigne, although I have probably 20 other bands/artists that I love. Books/Authors: The Harry Potter Series (J.K. Rowling), The Twilight Series (Stephanie Meyer), The Vampire Chronicles (Anne Rice), The Old Man's War series (John Scalzi), Neal Shusterman books (any of them, although Unwind is my favorite book of all time, and Shusterman is my favorite author). Movies/Shows: Star Wars, Friends, any movie based off of the books I mentioned above Other: Piano, writing (I'm an aspiring novelist)

  • Who are your favorite authors?

Tell me who are your favorites, and what kind of books do they write? I'm looking for new people to read. :)

The ones I like are: Neal Shusterman (teen sci-fi/fantasy), John Scalzi (sci-fi), Anne Rice (horror), Christopher Rice (thriller), Stephanie Meyer (fantasy romance), and J.K. Rowling (fantasy).

    Thanks for your answers!

  • Please suggest an outfit for this video I'm making?

I'm going to make a trailer for a novel I'm writing, where I dress up as the main character. He's a pop/rock star, and his style of dressing is edgy, a *little* bit goth or emo, but not too much. His natural looks feature black hair and dark eyes.

I was thinking kind of a Brendon Urie type style (from Panic! at the Disco) but all of Brendon's style clothing that I was thinking of was circus-related, and not really like my character. Then I thought kind of Joe Jonas, but he wears suits and that kind of stuff, and that's not really what I'm looking for either. My character is supposed to be kind of a smart-*** kid, so he wouldn't dress in suits or anything frilly or formal. So does anyone have some suggestions for an outfit I could put together for this trailer?

    Please and thank you!

  • What things inspire YOU?

What people, what celebrities, what sights, sounds, smells, feelings, things inspire you? Music? What music, by who, why? What makes you love the things you inspire, what makes you think, "I want to do something great like that."

  • Question about copyrights?

Do I need permission from a band to cover their songs--if I'm not making money off of it?

Here's what I'm talking about doing.

I wrote a story based upon the lyrics of the album "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out" by Panic at the Disco. I can visualize the story as pretty well, and I kind of want to make a kind of musical/movie based on the story I wrote, with their music being covered by me in the background. I was going to only use piano music (MAYBE some guitar) and I haven't decided yet whether or not to use the lyrics/vocals. The most I was going to do with this movie was put it up on YouTube. I don't intend to make money from it AT ALL. That being said, do I need to obtain permission from Panic at the Disco to make the video and put it up on YouTube?

    Thanks for you answers!

  • Good music in languages other than English?

I'm interested in broadening my interest in music, and going a little but multicultural... I'm looking for bands (and specific songs by those bands would help) that perform in languages other than just English. I'm open to pretty much any language, but I'd really like Spanish especially, because that's the language I'm learning right now.

    Right now I listen to:

    Tokio Hotel (German)

a *little bit* of Versailles (Japanese)

a *little bit* of Enrique Iglesias (Spanish)

    I'm pretty much into any genre, but I'd prefer something fast-paced and rocky, please. {por favor :)}

    Thank you!!!!

  • Can someone explain limiting reagent to me? In plain English?

My teacher explained limiting reagent to the class a while ago, but I can't for the life of me remember exactly what I'm supposed to do. I remember it seemed easy, but when I looked up the answer on the Internet (I've been on spring break) I got gibberish that made absolutely no sense.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

  • Pretty simple math question--my answer isn't making sense?

Okay, the problem is: In 1990, the tuition at a private college was $15,000. During the next 9 years, tuition increased by about 7.2% each year. Write a model giving the cost "C" of tuition at the college "t" years after 1990.

I originally had my equation set up like this:

    C=((15,000*0.072)^t)+15,000

The equation didn't look quite right, but I'm not sure how to fix it... My answers didn't seem right, either, so I'm guessing I'm on the wrong track.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

  • Balancing a chemical equation?

Okay, I have tried and tried to balance this equation, and I can't seem to get it. It's probably something ridiculously simple, but I'm tired of trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Chemistry and I don't get along well.

The word equation is: Calcium phosphide plus water yields phosphine plus calcium hydroxide.

I had the skeleton equation written out like this: (imagine the numbers are subscripts):

    CaP+H2O [yields] PH3+CaOH

Balancing the hydrogen and oxygen is what screws me up the most.

    Thank you for your help!

  • What are some bands/artists you'd recommend?

Hello all! Well, I'm looking for some new music to listen to... I have a ton of favorites when it comes to music, but it's always nice to hear something new. So anything you'd recommend--I'd be into it.

These are the artists/bands I like right now:

Alice Cooper, Vanessa Carlton, Avril Lavigne, Evanescence, Panic at the Disco, Flyleaf, Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Plain White T's, The Academy Is..., Sum 41, Queen, Pat Benatar, Incubus, The Fray, Tokio Hotel, The Last Goodnight, Shannon Thomas, Ashlee Simpson, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Metro Station, The Cab, Rhianna, The Beatles.... As you can see I like stuff from a lot of different genres, although the ones out of THOSE that I like the best are the more rock/hard rock/emo kinds of bands. But I'm good with almost anything.

    Thanks for your suggestions!

  • I don't know what to call this but it involves pictures and email?

This is more sheer curiosity than anything else. But I was in my Yahoo email, and there were pictures at the bottom of a forward, and if you clicked on to them you could save them to the computer so you could view them full size rather than thumbnails.

So I did that with this one picture, and my little Windows Picture and Fax viewer thingy popped up (that's what I use to view pictures) and it showed the picture blah blah blah... But then when I clicked on the little arrow to view the next picture and bunch of random crap came up.

They were pictures like tool bars from search engines, one that I recognized from a website I have been to recently, one from a website I haven't been on in months, several things from photobucket (that weren't pictures that I had seen before, but were related to things I had searched for) and then just weird crap like lines and people I hadn't ever seen before.

Where did my computer get these pictures? It's not a problem, just like I said, curiosity. Did it go into my favorites or links to what I had been in recently...? I have no idea. Any insight would be cool/helpful.

Sorry this is so long. I'm done boring you now.

  • Gum swelling 3 months after wisdom teeth removal?

I had my wisdom teeth removed over 3 months ago, and last week I was eating some peanut M&M's when part of my gums (right over where my wisdom teeth had been removed, where the hole wasn't completely gone yet) started swelling. I rinsed with salt water and made special note to brush a little more back there, and it went away fairly quick. Now this week the swelling is starting back up, but not nearly as bad as it was. So my questions are 1) why is this happening and 2) how do I make it stop?

  • Does Alice Cooper do meet and greets at his shows?

Hello, good people of Yahoo answers. Here is my question: Does Alice Cooper do meet and greet sessions after his concerts? I have the privilege to go to one of his concerts in August, and seeing as how I'm a die hard fan, I'd really like to meet him. Is this likely? It doesn't seem so, but then again I searched for a related topic on here and it seemed that quite a few people had met him in a similar situation... Giving me your answers/opinions would make all my dreams come true. Thanks!

  • Post surgery question--possible allergy to Vicoden?

Yesterday I had surgery to remove my wisdom teeth, all went well, no problems, all that jazz. But shortly after I got home, I drank a milkshake and took a vicoden pill, just as the doctor had recomended. A little while later, I threw up my milkshake, and threw up three more times throughout the day. Could this be an allergic reaction to the vicoden (and therefore in future surgeries I should alert the doctors about this issue) or could this be just an after effect of the anesthesia and eating too soon?

Thanks for your answers and help.

  • Help with finding a video?

I'm searching for a video on YouTube that I saw a long time ago, but I can't seem to find it again. I THOUGHT it was called "Alice Cooper Gives Advice," but when I type that in I get a different video. This clip was only about 10 seconds long, with the song "Generation Landslide" in the backround. A clip of Alice fades in, he says "get a life" and it fades out when the music goes "LA DA DA DA DA!"

Yes, I understand if you think I am weird for wanting to find this video. But if you can find it and post a link, I will award you with 10 points! Thanks so much.

  • Fans of Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, etc...?

I'm doing an article hard core fans of movies such as the ones mentioned above. When I mean hard core, I'm talking about the dressing up for midnight premieres of movies, and the collecting all of the merchandise and that kind of thing. Why do people do that with certain movies (such as Star Wars rather than say... E.T. or something) and why isn't it just enough to watch and enjoy the movie? What certain qualities do the movies mentioned above have that make people like them so much that it becomes an obsession?

Thank you for all of your answers, you'd really be helping me out a lot!
