For the purpose of showing a dramatic change in appearance what kind of dtone might you choose?

This question concerns a little math and a lot of explanation. In the book "Math and the Mona Lisa: The Art and Science of Leonardo da Vinci" Bulent Atalay talks about the relationship of Phi. This is the inverse and also the square of the golden mean, which is ((1/2 times (the square root of 5)) minus 1/2) or ..618033988 and so on. One thing that Mr. Atalay says in his book is that he measured the distance from the navel to the ground of all the students in one of is classes and divided that number by their height and it matched this number with only a very small margin of error . My height is 70 inches and the golden mean is 43 and 1/4 but I measured my own navel to ground and it is 39 and 3/4 inches; a difference of 3 and 1/2 inches, or a difference of over 8% if I figured it right. This is a big difference if you are studying the proportions of anatomy as I do.

So my question is does the golden mean work for any of you? If you are a teacher does it work for your students and what is the mean difference?

This question is a little involved so I will try to explain it some. There are three parts to it. The first part is in general reading. When you read a novel, do you hear the voices of the narrator and the principal characters?

The second part is more specifically about the Bible. When you put more into it as you read it then you get more out of it. Of course it helps a great deal when you read an accurate literal modern translation. When you read, for instance, the account of the encounter of Jesus with the Samaritan woman can you hear the personal concern and kindness in the voice of Jesus, or the hesitant surprise in the voice in that of the Samaritan woman, and then her surprise, wonder, and enthusiasm?

The third part of my question is about songs in the song book, and will make a lot more sense to those who know at least a little music theory, and to some of my friends here too. We are familiar with some of the songs we sing at our meetings, and if you know a little music theory and see the music before you sing it does it start to come to life and play in your head ?

I know that to most of you this will make no sense at all, but it is one difference between a good reader and one who is not.

As close as I can tell my iris is 13 mm across, and my theory is that in the adult eye the range is from 11mm (maybe) to 14mm. However I'm sure that someone will know a definitive answer. This isn't for homework per say, but I am an artist who does a lot of mathematical studies on my own. Usually I assume around 13 or 14.
