side stitch while running?
Hi ive been running awhile maybe 4 months now. I started with just a mile, then two and now I can run a consistent 5k. However, one day I was running and I got a side stitch so I ran through it..I had a side stitch for days!! So i took some time off but now every time I run i get a side stitch after the first 1.5 miles and have to stop. I cant figure out why..I use the same running shoes, I dont eat before running, I'm breathing the same. Its always on my right side. The only absolute way I can prevent it is if i run the whole 5k with my mouth closed breathing solely in and out of my nose. I always feel like I could run farther but the side stitch stops me. Im physically ready to run a 10k but cant :(
2 AnswersRunning10 years agoWould you consider a husky to be a 40lb dog?
Hi my new apartment has a 40lb weight limit on dogs. If they dont consider the breed to be a "40lb" or under then they want to see the dog in person. Right now he is over 40lbs because he is really overweight. (my fault, but i now measure his food) Im just trying to decide if generally speaking a husky would be considered to be 40lbs or under? Because I really want to be able to keep my dog and this place has the highest weight limit on dogs that i've found. Thank you for your help.
9 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHow much can I get for this saddle? Saddle Seat.?
Its a blue ribbon saddle seat saddle, says made in england. 17"; I originally paid $1200 to 1500. I cant remember! I barely used this saddle, maybe a dozen times. I did saddle seat equitation with saddle breds and I also used the saddle on an Arab. All the billets are there and in great shape. Normal wear. I have the stirrups also. Thank you.

2 AnswersHorses1 decade agoNatural Hoof Care question?
I decided to get a Natural hoof care farrier and get my horse's shoes taken off for good After just one trim, his feet looked better than they ever had. Its been five weeks and the farrier came out again to trim my horses feet, he complained that he was "tired" and in a "hurry" and pulls a belt sander and proceeds to trim his feet like that. Is that part of natural hoof care?? I got to looking and his front left hoof is way shorter than the right and now he is really sore on that foot. He also made the comment that my horses back is sore because everytime he went to pick up my horses back legs my horse would jerk his foot up really fast and try to shake him off. Is that symptoms of a sore back? Should you be belt sanding a horses feet??
10 AnswersHorses1 decade agoSafe to use trash bags as litter box liner?
Somebody told me the other day that trash bags have pesticides on them. Is that true? I couldnt find anything about it online. (I use the cheap kind) But i got kinda worried b/c I use them as liners for my litter boxes. Anybody heard of that?
3 AnswersCats1 decade agoNatural hoof care question?
I have a 4 yr old TB and i decided to go with a natural hoof care farrier. He had his two front shoes pulled off 2 weeks ago. After only one trim his feet look amazing! No more cracking, chipping, or flaring! However, his soles are getting sore. I take him over gravel and he trips and stumbles over it. I know this is normal. Ive been riding and working him everyday and trying to take him over as many surfaces as possible because he lives in a stall and only gets turned out a couple hours a day. Anything i can do to help with the soreness and prevent abscesses? The farrier said not to use bute and he didnt think that he needed boots. Would soaking in epsom be worth it? Should I just keep working him through the pain?
7 AnswersHorses1 decade agoHow can I help this horse? Or should i just let her go to the slaughter house?
My sister is on a polo team for a university and there is this horse, she is a TB mare 13yrs old about 16 hands and she is facing death. Recently she got kicked in the mouth by another horse, broke her jaw, lost a tooth, and now her jaw is infected and pussing out the bottom. The surgery to fix her jaw is $1500. The club simply does not have the money to help her, they wont even pay for the antibiotics to help the infection. Another problem is that she bucks whenever she ridden and unless the rider is very experienced they get thrown to the ground. So the club has decided that she is not worth the money to keep or save and have decided to giver her up. If they cant find a home she is off to the slaughter house. Am i the only one that is completely appalled by this? My sister and I both dont want her to die, but i do not have the funds to save her, we already rescued another one they wanted to send off to the slaughter and i have a cat getting ready to go in for an expensive procedure. Any ideas how to save this horse or should i just suck it up and let her go. Shes so pretty and sweet :(

I have a 3 year old OTTB. Hes vet checked, wormed, vaccinated, shoed, just had his teeth floated 2 months ago. Ive owned him for 6 months. Ive worked with this horse, bonded with him, i kiss to him he comes running, puts his head in the halter, he rides great. But this past week out of NOWHERE, he has flipped out. Everytime he sees his halter he bites it will not let go, then tries to bite me, gets mad and rears up really really high. I couldnt even get him out of his run today he was so bad. He just tries to bite anything and everything, paws the ground, runs around jumping and kicking. What is going on? Is this medical or behavioral? He has had NO bad incidents while in his halter, i dont understand. I have a trainer coming out tomorrow to look at him, and im considering calling the vet. The ONLY thing ive changed in his routine is i upped his grain 1 quart. Any ideas??? I love this horse, but if he keeps this up hes gone.
26 AnswersHorses1 decade agoHorse Conformation pics?
Here is my 3 yr. old OTTB. He is 16h 3" He is vet checked, wormed, and shod. I know he is far from perfect but i've put alot of time into bonding with him and i really love him! I have no idea about conformation so any pointers or suggestions about maybe what direction to take him in would be helpful. He has a very smooth trot and canter if that helps. Ive been working really hard to put weight on him with my vets help. Here are some pics:

5 AnswersHorses1 decade agoIs my horse cribbing? This sound familiar?
Today my 13 year old gelding started sucking air, which sounded just like he was cribbing however he was just standing there. He wasnt grabbing on to anything and he did it several times in a row. It was almost like a cough but he was sucking inward. I have never heard him do this. And he has never been a cribber. He is out to pasture on 10 acres with several other horses. What could it be? Of course im calling the vet, but i was wondering if anybody knew what it might be. It just started getting really cold down here if that helps.

9 AnswersHorses1 decade agoHorse with abscess? Help please!?
I recently bought a 3 year old thoroughbred horse. He has been off the race track for about 3 months, ive owned him a couple months. When i got him he still had his racing shoes on, so we had those pulled off and got him trimmed up. Its been about 2 months since. Well yesterday the vet came out for a general exam and low and behold he was lame in his front leg at a trot. The vet did two nerve blocks and used the hoof testers to determine that he was painful in the toe of his hoof. The vet dug until he got blood, however there was no puss. There is no swelling or noticeable heat coming from the foot. They did a poultice and wrapped his foot up and now he is on stall rest for 3 days. He said that if he is not better then he would have to do xrays. What could be going on? Is it a deep abscess? What are the x rays looking for? Were not supposed to soak it or anything until the recheck appointment. Anybody have something similar happen?

An aluminum wire of radius 2.50 x 10-4 m is stretched between the ends of a concrete block, as the drawing illustrates. When the system (wire and concrete) is at 44.9 °C, the tension in the wire is 88.3 N. What is the tension in the wire when the system is heated to 197 °C?
So far i have:
F1/A=youngs modulus*alpha*(T-Tinitial)
but im lost from there.
1 AnswerPhysics1 decade agoSimple Pendulum?
A block (mass = 2.4 kg) is hanging from a massless cord that is wrapped around a pulley (moment of inertia = 1.5 x 10-3 kg·m2), as the figure shows. Initially the pulley is prevented from rotating and the block is stationary. Then, the pulley is allowed to rotate as the block falls. The cord does not slip relative to the pulley as the block falls. Assume that the radius of the cord around the pulley remains constant at a value of 0.032 m during the block's descent. Find (a) the angular acceleration of the pulley and (b) the tension in the cord.
