Jehovah Witnesses: When Jesus appeared to his disciples did his materialized body have blood?
I'm just wondering because he still had the prints of the nails in his hands but yet there's no record of him bleeding through the wounds.
Likewise, when we're resurrected will.our new bodies have blood?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality4 years agoJehovah Witnesses: Can women ever have a heavenly hope?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality4 years agoJehovah Witnesses: Is Charles Russell really one of the 144,000?
One thing I can't figure out is the fact that throughout Russell's ministry he had taught pyramidology, something the Watchtower today labels as being satanic.
Am I supposed to believe that God is going to make something special out of somebody who taught a satanic principle as if it were a gospel truth?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality4 years agoJehovah Witnesses: Was Jesus's teachings only for the 144,000?
I'm curious because according to you all of those that joined the early church were part of the "heavenly class". Did Jesus's teachings ever deviate to include the "earthly class"?
I admit asked this once before but I'm really curious as to when the converts started to include those with an early hope. Likewise did Jesus have a different teaching scenario for both classes.
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality4 years agoJehovah Witnesses: How many of the 144,000 were recruited back in Christ's time?
Philippians 3:21 - "Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things to himself"
I once asked if Jesus was raised as a "mighty spirit" did that mean that all of those being preached to in this verse were also going to be resurrected as spirits. The answer given to me was yes, implying that all the members of the original church were part of 144,000.
Now if that's true then I have to ask how many of the 144,000 were actually recruited at that time? Likewise when did further converts actually start to become part of the "earthly hope"?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality4 years agoAre there any comets coming right now?
I actually missed Comet McNaught back in 2007 and didn't find out about it until a few months later when I saw an article of it in Sky and Telescope. I likewise missed Comet Panstarrs back in 2014 for the same reason. Does anybody know of any recently discovered comets? How and where can I stay up to date about these events?
3 AnswersAstronomy & Space4 years agoWhat hemisphere will Halley's Comet favor in 2061?
1986 was a disappointment for Halley's Comet viewers in the northern hemisphere. How will it do in 2061 when it next returns? From what I've read it won't come much closer than it did in 1986. Anybody know anything?
2 AnswersAstronomy & Space4 years agoJehovah Witnesses: Please clarify this?
Ecclesisastes 12:7 - "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it"
! Peter 3:19 - "By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison"
With regards to the first verse I was told that word spirit refers to a life force. Something with no consciousness. But if that's the case then WHAT was Jesus preaching to in the second verse?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality4 years agoJehovah Witnesses: Question about 1 Peter 3:19?
According to you when Jesus died he was in a state of non-existence so he couldn't possibly have preached to the spirits in prison at that time. With that being the case WHEN did he actually do that preaching? Who were the spirits in prison anyway?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality4 years agoJehovah Witnesses: Is Jehovah a just God?
If someone commits a crime it seems logical that the greater the crime the greater should be the punishment. Nobody should spend 30 years in jail just for shoplifting. But according to you ALL wicked people will be denied a resurrection . It doesn't matter how severe their crimes, they will all receive the exact same punishment ie no resurrection. Tell me, are there different levels of severity in this sort of punishment? It seems somewhat unfair that someone like Hitler is going to receive the exact same punishment as someone who's only crime was not to accept the Watchtower as God's channel of communication with man. Does that seem fair to you?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoIs Jehovah sad when people read past Watchtower literature?
Is he likewise sad when people draw faulty conclusions about the truthfulness of the Watchtower society by focusing on all of the mistakes made by their Governing Body for the past century?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoJehovah Witnesses: Was spiritual annihilation common knowledge with the Jews?
I asked this question once before but as I got few answers I thought I'd try again. I have heard you say that there are no verses in the Bible that support the belief of a continued existence after death. What seems to be implied is that spiritual annihilation was common knowledge with the Jews even up until Jesus's appearance.
But I have found two places in the Bible where the concept of a continued existence after death was clearly believed in. One can be found in the Book of Samuel, Chapter 28, when Saul attempts to contact deceased Samuel through a medium. Irregardless of the ethics behind Saul's actions the point is is that Saul clearly believed in an afterlife. Didn't Saul realize that Samuel was in a state of non-existence and couldn't possible have answered him?
My next case involves the apostle Peter when Moses and Elijah appeared before Jesus. You have said that it was only a vision, but gee, didn't Peter know that? Didn't he realize Moses and Elijah were nothing more than lifeless projections? If he was a knowledgeable Jew wouldn't he have realized that what he was seeing was a complete impossibility? If so, I can't figure out why he would have made the suggestion to make those three booths.
Can you offer any explanation for this?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoJehovah Witnesses: When did the belief in an afterlife start?
You have claimed that spiritual annihilation was common knowledge with the Jews. But if that's true then I have to ask when, exactly, did this "pagan" belief come into existence? How did it blow up into a piece of doctrine which is a main belief with almost all Christian sects?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoJehovah Witnesses: Why is it wrong to conclude Jesus rose with a body?
(John 2:21) "But he spoke of the temple of his BODY"
(Luke 24:39) "Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
By reading these two verses why would it be wrong to conclude that Jesus was resurrected as a tangible human being. I find it interesting that Jesus clearly stressed in Luke 24:39 that he was NOT a spirit or ghost. And I have to ask why did he do this if it was just a temporary condition.
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoJehovah Witnesses: How do you explain Jesus talking to Moses and Elijah in Matthew 17:3?
I have heard you say that the appearance of Moses and Elijah was nothing more than a vision, but if that's true then to what was Jesus talking to if they weren't real conscious identities?
And while you're at it could you explain why in the following verse (Matt. 17:4) did Peter make the suggestion to make those three booths. Didn't he know that Moses and Elijah weren't really there?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoJehovah Witnesses: Why didn't Satan join the rebellious angels in Genesis 6:2?
I mean if the Sons of God were supposed to be angels, and if they had the power to materialize bodies then why didn't Satan join them. Satan is a rebellious son of God too isn't he?
2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoJehovah Witnesses: Why is there no record of Satan materializing a body?
I was told by others of your faith that that ability was taken away from him when he was cast out of heaven back in 1914. But if he had such a power before then why is there no record of him ever having used it?
