5 AnswersGovernment8 years agoJob application quick question!?
The question on the app is this: ''Please list any special skills, honors, achievements, memberships, activities, positions of leadership (school, civic, community, special interest group) excluding any organizations, the name of or character of which may reveal race, disability, religion or national origin of its members)''
I just don't fully understand the "excluding organizations" part. For example, would an organization named "Not Just Another Cancer Fundraiser" that I volunteered for be off limits to put down?
Thanks for any and all answers :)
1 AnswerOther - Careers & Employment8 years agoHealthcare/Obamacare in layman's terms?
I really want to understand the whole healthcare debate that has been going on for months. Can someone describe it in easy to understand terms. I tried to research the topic but in all honesty, I have no idea what I am reading. It can be brief. Thanks! :)

4 AnswersYouTube1 decade agoGrass NOT always greener on the other side?
Usually, it seems when children grow up sheltered and privileged, they never seem to be truly happy and are always searching for more, and most grow to resent their parents. Yet when kids grow up poor and poverty stricken, they always yearn to be rich and to be on the other side of the fence in a huge mansion. Neither sides are almost never happy. I think there should be some sort of a middle ground, but I can never find this. There is almost no middle class left, if there ever was...
Thoughts?
P.S. I'm not saying all, just IMO most.
6 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoPeople who have seen the new "Predators"?
I was thinking of seeing Predators today but I am curious, what percentage of the movie is Adrien Brody in? I would not want to spend $10 on a horror action movie if he's only in there like half the time because I don't want to see people getting eaten and killed or whatever for the other half. For those of you who don't know who he is, he's the buff guy(I think he has muscles in this one but idk for sure) with the really short dark hair and he kinda has a long face. Thanks to anyone who answers :)
2 AnswersMovies1 decade agoVerbal? Indirect? Is my dad abusing me and my sister?
Is it possible to still be "abused" even if it's just by the choices your parent makes and the fact that you have to live with them? Or is that called something else? And is verbal really a legitimate form of abuse? I'm not trying to be mean or stupid or anything or to anyone who feels that it is. I'm just curious because I am 14 and I live with my sister and my dad. My mom passed away a few years ago when I was 11. My dad frequently goes off to Vegas for days on end, and doesn't leave us any money and my sister is 18 and she doesn't have a car so we have no means to get anywhere because our whole family(both sides) has pretty much lost all contact with him. My dad isn't in my opinion a really good person. We're barely making ends meet(seriously, my sister and I give him money all the time to help with the rent and food and stuff). But he has NEVER hit us, and I'm sure he never will, AND he doesn't have an alchohol problem at all, AND he has a job at a limo company so he isn't just letting us fend for ourselves. But when he needs money or something, he just goes off and cusses and says horrible things that just don't make any sense. And he even talks about our mom and says she would be proud of us, all sarcastically. I know life isn't fair and all that, so this is why I don't feel compeletely comfortable with myself for writing this because I know some families don't even have jobs and some even live in their cars. But me and my sister were considering going to my school counselor at the start of next year and talking to her. Do you think I have a real reason to? Tons of parents and families have it hard right now with the economy and the jobs that just got pulled and I just feel like I'm whining. Thanks so much to anyone who answers! :)

4 AnswersHomework Help1 decade agoHELP WITH TRANSLATING INTO "SHAKESPEAREAN" LANGUAGE!?
Okay so I need help with this script. Our teacher gave us directions to make it sound from the elizabethan england era. I am not sure what she means by that or even what that era is. If you could, just translate each 'CH' line(there's only 10) into something sounding 'shakespearean'. It's for my freshman english honors class so not tooooo difficult. THANKYOU soooo much! :D
ONLY the 'CH' lines!!
~~
CA - Hey mom, good morning.
CH- Dont give me that. Where were you last night?
CA - I was just at a party! Why are you so mad?
CH - You got home at 3 am! You weren't answering your phone and I almost had to call the cops!
CA - I'm old enough to stay out whenever I want. I'm sixteen!
CH - Well from now on, you have to be home at seven.
CA - No that's not fair! That's way too early!
CH - Well I'm the mom and what I say goes.
CA - You need to start giving me more responsibility. How can I learn anything if you keep me locked up all the time?
CH - You live under my roof, what I say goes!
CA - How come all my friends get to stay out so late?
CH - Well if all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you?
CA - Depends how high the bridge is.
CH - Carefreecio you are so spoiled! All I want is for you to be safe.
CA - I know I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you so mad.
CH - Well you did. Next time just don't stay out so late. By 8, you must be in.
CA - How about 9? Please?
CH - Alright, you think you're so mature. Nine then.
CA - Okay thanks Mom. I won't let you down.
CH - Uhuh. I'll see.
~~~
Okay, that's all. ONLY THE 'CH' LINES. PLEASE DON'T TRANSLATE THE 'CA' LINES. THANKS!!!
3 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoHow to identify and kill a huge spider thing?
Okay so I am freaked out. I was just sitting in the living room when my cat comes in with something dark with long legs sticking out of its mouth. I was barefoot, so I run to go get some shoes on and try to force my cat to get whatever insect arachnid thing it has in its mouth, out. Well, I have a very large fear of spiders so when he finally dropped it and it scurried across the floor, I started screaming and just going crazy. I didn't get a really good look at it except that it's dark colored and has long legs. I know bad description sorry. So I finally got it together and tried to locate it. I found my cat scratching at something in between two boxes, so I looked and there was the spider thingy. It was wedged in between two boxes, my front door was open so I can see it's shadow, and it is HUGE. I've never seen a spider that big before. I'm alone at the house right now until about 8 and I don't wanna wait that long. Please give me some tips on what to do. Should I get it out then smash it, or wedge it betwen the two boxes, help! Nothing too up close or gross cuz I can not handle that. Thankyou so much!
3 AnswersOther - Home & Garden1 decade agoHelp with To Kill a Mockingbird thesis!?
Okay so I am very nervous about writing my thesis statement. It's the most important part of my paper. Here's my instructions:
In a multiple paragraph essay, explain which version of TKAM describes the events in Ch.6 in a more dramatic fashion, the film or book. Be sure to provide enough support(3 examples), a thesis, and an appropriate well written conclusion.
Here's what I have so far:
As soon as the shadow had disappeared, Jem leaped off the porch in terror and galloped back to the gate, wrenching it open and flying through back to the house. In chapter six of the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, and in part six of the movie, the main characters, Scout, Jem, and their friend Dill, are afraid of Boo Radley, the neighborhood recluse. One dark night, Jem and Dill decide to go and peek through the window of his house and see if they can get a glimpse of him. Scout is terrified of even going near the house, yet wanting to be included, she reluctantly goes along with their scheme.
Thankyou so much! I looked up alot of sites on how to write a thesis but didn't find anything that helpful. I'm a freshman in hs if that helps:)
1 AnswerHomework Help1 decade agoPlease help me with my ballad poem!!?
I need a 3-4 line refrain that rhymes. It has to be about war in the eyes of a soldier. Thanks:)
In the night we marched,
Our throats were parched,
The icy wind we feel,
while we savor our last meal,
(need a refrain)
The journey hard,
Losing hope and our minds scarred.
The image of death etched in my mind,
Wishing that now, I could be blind.
(need refrain)
My heart aches to tell the tale,
Even though we triumphed, we did not fail.
Yet we are happy to be back home,
Away from war, we are in our safety zone.
(need refrain)
-------------------------------------------------
Thankyou! And if you have any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, comments, or questions please tell me. Also, is there anything I could do to make it better?
