  • Are the atheists who frequent Religion & Spirituality considering the possibility of God's existence?

What is it about atheists that they would spend so much time, attention, and energy refuting something that they don't believe even exists? Are they secretly hoping that someone can convince them otherwise?

If they could conclusively prove to believers that they were wrong, then the issue is off the table, and they would be free to go on with their life, or at least go on to another topic.

It's as if they are on a quest to become free from the question of God by attacking those who believe.

  • Best line / Worst Line?

What is one the best lines you've ever heard in a movie?

What is one of the worst lines you've ever heard in a movie?

    My vote:

Best - "Louie, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

Runner up - "Hey Wang, what's with the pictures? It's a parking lot!"

Worst - "Nobody puts Baby in a corner..."

Runner up - Tie between "You complete me." and "You had me at hello."

  • Atheists - what is your evidence or argument?

I have yet to see a convincing case made against the existence of God. Most comments I've seen are either dismissive or insults. Make a convincing argument.

The scientific method would say that you can prove the wind exists by its effect on the environment. Yet, you can't see the wind. I could say, "there is no wind, that tree simply fell over. Show me what the wind looks like."

I also see God's effect in the lives of others, and those that are changed through their belief in God. Yet, you can't "see" God, either - not as a whole individual entity or being.

So, other than the vision problem, or your lack of belief, can you make a case against the existence of God?

    John 3:8

The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.

  • If you could go back in time and see one band in their prime, what band would that be?

Feel free to elaborate - date, time, place, etc.

  • What groups/songs/genres do you secretly like?

In other words, I have always loved The Carpenters - but as a teenager or college student, I wouldn't make that publicly known because that would not be considered "cool". Or secretly liking Barry Manilow - who I think has made some terrific music - only you probably wouldn't listen to that around your friends. Or maybe you like country music, and all your peers are into metal.

So, what is a secret pleasure of yours?

  • What is your opinion of Valentine's Day?

This day probably hurts relationships more than it helps. It helps card companies, flower shops, chocolate makers and restaurants, for sure. Aren't birthdays and anniversaries more important than this silly day? Your partner does things for you all year round, but if he/she doesn't make a fuss on Valentine's day it's a big deal? Why? Others who are not in a relationship get depressed on this day because no one has made a fuss over them? Love is not demonstrated by a bunch of flowers or a box of chocolates. Those things may make one feel good, but it is not lasting. Yet I wager that there have been relationships broken up by a bad Valentines Day experience, and that is simply ridiculous.

    So, what are your thoughts?

  • Ladies, is a 4 1/2 foot teddy bear really something you would want for Valentines Day?

Or any other day for that matter? Just curious - I find it hard to believe a grown woman would be thrilled about getting a huge dust collector, and something that takes up half the bed.
