The Masked Masala
I am just a concerned person who has been living very close to nature for the last 12 years on a yacht. I have no special education and no axe to grind. I am not looking to argue or spread lies. 85% of my reason for being on yahoo answers is to do with the environment. The other 15% is to try to help people answer questions that I may know the answer to. I have been working on and around boats for the last 12 years. During this time I have owned 2 yachts and sailed around 80,000nm. I have worked and sailed on boats from 24ft to 97ft. I also wonder if people just randomly answer questions or do they check out who they are talking to? Do people have a sense of humor or do they just get angry and insult you before they have actually thought about it? If it is the latter then do you think that they spend to much time judging people by their own standards?
European fuel protests. Are the protesters wrong?
Given the escalating cost of fuel and the seemingly insatiable need we have to drive cars, trucks and ships, are the people in Europe who are protesting the rising cost of fuel aiming at the wrong target? Instead of protesting to the supplies of fuel should they not be protesting the suppliers and manufactures of the engines and vehicles and demanding more economical designs?
2 AnswersOther - Environment1 decade agoThe Great Global Warming Swindle V's Inconvenient Truth.?
It appears that the people on yahoo answers who disagree with AGW and endlessly criticise Al Gore have no problem quoting facts from 'The Great Global Warming Swindle' despite the fact the movie and Martin Durkin have received more criticism from the public and scientists alike. Funnily enough the same people will also suggest that believers in AGW are easily swayed by the media.
Is this a case of people choosing to believe what suits their lifestyle or being the victims of propoganda?
7 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoDo you think energy efficiency leads to more freedom?
Of all the solutions to climate change, energy efficiency is the most popular solution for the public and business, because it saves money and gives greater freedom. James Watts coal fired steam engine was more efficient that Thomas Newcomens earlier model, and gave reduced cost and greater freedom. So why are the deniers so resistant to change? Are they the The Luddites of this century that protest against the change produced by the technological leaps that we will be making, which they feel threaten their lifestyle. A popular argument with deniers is that we will have less freedom and the goverment will have more control but this has not been the case in the past so why should it be the case now? Is the protest about paying extra tax really logical when the fuel bill is 50% less?
7 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoDo you deny that global warming exists? Don't you feel you are in the minority?
Large majorities around the world believe that human activity causes global warming and that strong action must be taken, sooner rather than later, in developing as well as developed countries, according to a BBC World Service poll of 22,000 people in 21 countries. An average of eight in ten (79%) say that “human activity, including industry and transportation, is a significant cause of climate change.” Nine out of ten say that action is necessary to address global warming. A substantial majority (65%) choose the strongest position, saying that “it is necessary to take major steps starting very soon.” The countries with the largest majorities favoring taking major steps on climate change are in Europe: Spain (91%), Italy (86%), and France (85%). Also overwhelmingly in favor of significant action are some Latin American countries: Mexico (83%), Chile (78%), and Brazil (76%).
So as a denier dont you think that you could be wrong and that the majority is correct?
5 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoWhat is your opinion of the Algal bloom off the coast of New Zealand?
A swirling bloom directly east of the Banks peninsula -- stretching up to 100km north to south and up to 50km wide -- was caught by Nasa's Terra satellite last Saturday.
It is published on the space agency's website at http:/ /earthobservatory. nasa .gov/ Newsroom/NewImages/ images. php3.
Toxic blooms can kill a wide range of marine life, and shellfish contaminated by them can cause illness or even death in humans.
Do you feel that the presence of the bloom is directly related to the build up of agricultural fertiliser and raised sea temperature? Or is this a nartural phenomena that has nothing to do with man's activity in or out of the Ocean?
2 AnswersOther - Environment1 decade agoitunes...my copy of itunes has a mind of its own! whats going on?
I am talking about itunes on my laptop and not an ipod. If I drag songs from the library to the party shuffle it sometimes totally removes them from the library. If I drag every song from an artist into the party shuffle then the artist dissapears from the library. Sometimes when I drop the track into the party shuffle list or skip to the next track a totally different song starts playing. Also tracks that I am playing that have no "album name" become labelled with an album name and it is always the same name.
What is going on and how can I stop it?

40 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade ago2 years ago my girlfriend got pregnant from another guy and is very angry towards me, why??
We had a 6 year old and had been happy together for 8 years, she went on holiday to see her family and returns, then sends me an email to tell me that we are only friends! she was then going to leave without telling me about the pregnancy. I asked her if she was pregnant and she said that yes she was, that the condom had broken and she had taken the morning after pill, but still got pregnant. Question 1 is how likely is that?
I had been very sad, but I have moved on, got a new life and feel happy. However, when I try to communicate about are daughter, visits, etc, it is almost impossible, she becomes very angry and seems to blame me for the way her life has gone. What is going on in her head? Is it normal for people to transfer the blame? Why does she seem to have a grudge and what advice can you give? I would welcome any input or explanation.....
