  • Are video game character names considered copyrighted material?

    Hey,

Im trying to come up with an alias for my solo career in music. And I found one I really liked. Thing is, is it's the name of a character in a video game. If I went ahead and used the name, and I "made it", could I be looking at some serious legal issues in the future? I would think not, because it's just a name. But it's not a very popular name. So it may be copyrighted?

  • Can you make up words for a fiction story?

I have the urge to write a novel. Even if it never gets popular. Is it taboo to make up a word to describe something or someone in a fiction story? Like a new race/species of aliens or something? Or animals? Or even the name of a place or planet?

Or should I look up cool words and use them instead?

  • If you find an abandoned child, is there a possible way to keep it for yourself?

    Wait...

I didn't find a child or anything. But the thought has came to mind before. If I found a baby, and it wasn't a registered missing baby. Would I be able to adopt it or keep it for my self and raise them? I'd like too! But if I legally can't then that's upsetting.

  • Northern London accent help?

    Hey guys,

I'm trying to teach myself an Northern London style british accent. Kindof like the type Jeremy from Top Gear has. I guess sort of Posh? I'm not sure the correct terms of these sort of things. Anyways...

I'm finding that my accent that I try sounds waaaaaay too Northern Irish. Like Belfast or something. Can someone give me tips on keeping the accent sounding more London, England sounding rather than Irish? I feel like it may be the tone/melody of my voice that I'm giving and I might be doing something different with the vowels then I should be.

I've read up so many How To's and watched so many videos but I just can't shake it from going into an Irish accent. Which is weird considering they are a lot different sounding.

  • Does Drambuie go bad?

Alright. So, I'm not sure how long this bottle has been around and I don't have means of finding out. I have a bottle of Drambuie I randomly found. It was opened but there is so much left. It`s like someone took a shot of it and just closed it back and stored it. I have NO idea how long it`s been sitting here. It`s an old style bottle. The ones that like Short and stubby with the ribbon looking sticker on it and the red twist off cap. I`m curious because I want to try it. It smells delicious. and I got a little bit on my finger and tasted it and I really liked the taste. So what are the chances of it being bad? I understand hard liquor never goes bad but this is liqueur. As far as I'm aware, it's age Scotch Whiskey with hint of heather Honey, herbs and spices. As it says on the bottle.

Help me out? I very interest on what my "drunk" feels like when I'm drinking this.

  • Can you get heat stroke when sleeping?

Ok, it's very hot where I live during the summer, and my house doesn't actually have A/C. ( I grew up not having it, I'm used to it now) but I was wondering, can I get heatstroke if I'm asleep?? It gets to be about close to 50 degrees Celsius in my room sometimes and I have slept with blankets on and everything. But then the thought came to me if I could get it in my sleep. I don't think I have yet, but if it's possible, I want to be more careful.

    Thanks :3

  • Ibanez Fret Buzz Help?

    Hey guys,

I acquired a new guitar yesterday and it's really nice. I noticed something today while playing it though. The 3rd and 10th fret on the A string buzz. Not a little buzz, A LOT. Enough for the pickups to pick it up and it sounds very eerie.. I was wondering if there was anything I could do to fix this problem. I have done adjustments before but the things I'm trying aren't really cutting it. (Truss rod, and intonation)

    Anybody have any clue?

    Thanks

  • Rockband/Guitar hero/ Dj Hero sickness?

    Hey guys,

I end up getting fairly sick (nausea/vomiting) from playing either Rockband, Guitar Hero or Dj hero for some reason, I was wondering what could be causing this and what I could do to help get rid of it or something because I do enjoy playing those games. Although DJ Hero isn't as bad as the other 2.

    Please help????

  • How to get into University?

    Hey guys.

Ok, so I just finished my last year of high-school. I went back for a victory lap. and when I was in high-school, I did not do good at all. I hated it, skipped class a lot, never did work and had bad grades. Now, back then, I didn't have a clue what I wanted to be, and I still kind of don't now. So, I just didn't care because I had nothing to work for or whatever. and now that it's done, I have been thinking about stuff a lot lately, and as weird as it seems, I kind of want to go to university. Now, I know this may seem like a long shot, and I know the amount of work and stuff it is, and how I don't have any close grades for it at all, but is there any way I could possibly get in to university, even if I have to take college first, I'm ok with that. but does anybody know a way that this is possible? I'm also 18 turning 19 in November. and Something I kind of have wanted to do was be a teacher for possibly music or something.

I know this seems pretty pointless, but please help?

  • Help me figure out what movie this is?

    Hey guys,

I remember watching a black and white movie in grade 8 history about 6-7 years ago that I don't remember the name of, I just really liked it. I seemed to be a 1940's style movie, I am not normally into those but I really liked it.

Anyways, It's about a father and son who have to go to a concentration camp (Im pretty sure) and I remember one of the scenes,

The guard walks into the tent they were in asking if anybody understood German, and would like to translate it into polish or english or what ever the language was, and the father said that he understood it and would translate it, although because his son was there, he translated it to something happy instead of whatever they were talking about, and all the other roommates were like WTF? Basically the father didn't want to scare his son so he made it seem like it was a good thing?

Sorry if I am wrong at all, but I would really appreciate it, if anybody could help me remember what movie that was. and I am pretty sure, at the end of the film it shows American troops invading the camp and one soldier says, "don't worry, you will be safe from now on" or something

    Thank you :)

  • Should I attempt to switch to drums?

Ok, so I have been playing guitar and bass for the past uhhhh.... 7-8 years? and I feels like I'm starting to get bored of both. Normally, when I get bored of guitar, I play bass for a while then switch back to guitar and so on, but lately, I have just been bored of both, and getting more into drums as the days go by. Now Im not sure if it's because I work in a music store that sells more drums then guitars (more of a drum store then anything) or that I really like air drumming, or watching drum covers on youtube nowadays. Which ever it is, I have been getting more and more of a love and want for drums. Although I am not sure if it is because of the fact I work in a drum store, or the others listed above, or that I have some natural talent with it (I have played on other peoples kits and they say I have some natural talent for never owning a set in my life) but there is a problem, even if I want to, how do I break the news to my parents about it, they are really big on music for me, but I am not sure how they would take the idea of me wanting to switch over to drums. Plus, aren't drums somewhat expensive?

So, should I talk to my parents about it and see if I can or not, or take a break from guitar/bass and see if I have any interest to go back to it?

I think part of the reason why I am feeling like this as well, is because I really want to get into some sort of band, and it seems like people need a drummer more then a guitarist/bassist. and it would be more of an easier time to get into a band that is serious if I am a drummer over being a guitarist.

So, what do you guys think?

  • Music Theory Help? Scales question?

Ok. So, I have been playing guitar for about 5 years now, and I finally decided I would take the time to learn theory. I decided I would learn scales first, and I so far have C Major down on the Guitar (CDEFGABC). and I want to write a song thats in "C".

    Here's my question.

When writing a song, in C, when I am doing cool fills with the C major scales I learned, does each note have to start with "C" or can it start at F? What I am trying to do is a CDEFG, CDEFG, then I go to another position on the guitar's neck, and do FGABC, FGABC and repeat the whole thing.

Can I do that when I want to strickly stay in C major, or does that automatically make it a different scale?

Sorry, I just started learning about this stuff, and I am really noobish at it.
