  • Good swimming sets?

I've just gotten back into swimming at my local pool. I've been swimming for a long time so I'm experienced and competent. As it's free lane swimming, I'm a bit short of some sets or like a 'workout plan' to follow. I usually swim for 1hr and in that time I have recently covered just over 2km? I like doing pyramid sets (I don't own a float/pullbuoy) and I stay clear from butterfly. Any ideas for a good, effective swim set?

Also, will swimming about 2km regularly make me look more toned and have slimmer legs and abs?

  • Is it time to cut my hair?

My hair is nearly waist length and I'm trying to grow it. I last had a trim in February earlier this year, and the hairdresser said I have strong hair which isn't as prone to splitting as other hair. If I was to trim it now it would only be about an inch (my hair is layered too btw). Is it worth it?

    Thanks!

  • What and how many gcses to take if I want to be a doctor?

Hey, I'm going to be choosing my options in a few weeks and I was wondering if this was suitable if I want to follow a career in medicine:

English Lang and lit (2 gcses)

    Maths

    Triple Science (3 gcses)

    Geography

    Either French or Spanish

History, but I'm thinking about this one.

What kind of grades would I have to get in these to be a doctor? Also is French a more suitable option or Spanish? Thanks in advance!

  • Does anyone know what this is?

Hey, I bought these a pair of 'somethings' when I went to Barcelona and I have no idea what it's called! The people selling them were French, if that helps. Basically, it's a length of cord about 60 cm in length. On one end there's a metal ring which you slide your finger in. On the other end there is a ball made of coloured string in colourful patterns. Coming out from the base of this ball there are six ribbons, three colours (2 ribbons of each colour). These balls have different weights and are sold in pairs. You have to hold one in each hand by the metal ring and spin your arms like a windmill to get the balls spinning. I'm not too sure, but I think it might be used for a dance.

I hope my description wasn't too complicated. Does anyone know what this is (I forgot to ask the seller:/) and where it comes from? Thanks for any sensible answers! :)

  • How to reduce thigh size?

Hey, my thighs are exceptionally big in proportion to my height (5'0) and my clothes size (UK 10), and it can be rather embarrassing. They are about 21.5" around the circumference last time I checked. I do exercise such as swimming, and though I kick hard in every session, they don't seem to get any slimmer. WHY?!? Most of the fat goes to my thighs and I can never seem to burn it off.

I was wondering how to reduce the size of my thighs whilst getting fit in general too. Any ideas or tips, or been through this before? Thanks!

  • How often do you wash your hair?

Of course, it all depends on your hair type, length, lifestyle, but how often do you guys wash? is it in the morning, or the evening? I was just wondering what the ideal 'wash schedule' is?

  • Are Goldsmiths and Hollister open on Boxing Day?

I can't wait for the Boxing Day Sales! This year, I'm thinking of going to a big shopping centre 50 miles away to do my shopping, where I can go to Hollister and Goldsmiths, just one thing: are they even open on Boxing Day? I know not all shops do open tomorrow, and I don't want to go being unsure unless they aren't open and my trip being a total waste of time! So does anyone know/have experience?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Jack Wills Gilet advice?

I'm thinking of getting a Jack Wills gilet in Navy. Heres the link:

    http://www.jackwills.com/en-us/product/chalkhouse-...

This is Navy, even though the one in the link is red.

Are these still in fashion? And I'm a bit short (5' 0'') and I need it in UK size 12 - do you think it won't look too bad on me, like too long?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Huge skin bubble on big toe! What's going on?

I came back from my one hour swimming lesson earlier and I noticed a large patch of skin on my big toe which is dead but it's just a bubble with a loose end! Does anyone know how this happens, and if I peel it off, will the skin grow back quickly?

    Thanks in advance!:)

  • How to banish greasy hair?

Hey Im a girl and I have seriously greasy hair. I wash my hair on Monday and Saturday mornings and Tuesday and Wednesday evening. It's strange because my hair gets greasy the day I wash it - especially if I tie it up. I wash my hair with many different shampoos, usually Pantene and Tresemme. Does anyone else get this problem, and if so, how to they banish oily hair?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Some influential people of the 1990s?

They have to be British, so that rules out a lot. From 1990 to 1999, people who have influenced or inspired Britain for anything!

  • Does it look like I'll grow?

I'm 5ft 0 and I'm 14 years old. Thing is, I've been this height since I was about nine or ten, and haven't grown since. I also started puberty at quite an early age - and I had a growth spurt when I was nine. I'm one of the shortest people in my year and desperately want to get some more height, even if it is only one inch. Does it seem like I'll ever grow?

  • Anyone know about body acne?

I have lots of acne and acne scars all across my upper and mid back, and it looks really bad. It shows when I wear swimming costumes or backless tops - compared to people with flawless backs. My GP's given me a gel to apply to my back and chest (my chest isn't as bad)- but the scars still show, and it's so unattractive. Anyone know how this back acne comes and how to prevent/get rid of it?

  • Eyelash curler crisis! Help!?

Hey, every morning I curl my lashes with an eyelash curler and a bit of heat from my hair dryer, then apply some mascara to hold the curl in place. My left eye stays in place fine, but as soon as I put mascara on my lashes on the left eye they go back to straight! They're really stubborn and I don't have much time to do them over and over again in the morning so does anyone have a good way of solving this?

Also, does anyone know how to have a rounded curl result in your lashes, rather than lashes that look like a 90 degree angle?

    Thanks in advance! :)

  • What to wear after 6 weeks of ear piercing?

My sixth week of ear piercing is rapidly approaching - that's when I can take out my starter earrings (made of titanium) and wear any earrings I want! Just one question: is it suitable to wear earrings made from cheap metals (like the ones in Claire's - but I'm not going to wear any Claire's earrings) or should I stick to more high quality metal like gold straight after the six weeks? And when can I start wearing the lower quality metals?

  • Is Ryanair really that bad?

I've heard of so many bad things about Ryanir on Watchdog, X-Ray, etc. I know the basics, and for some reason, I'm going on a Ryanair flight (against my will) and I'd like to know about the actual experience flying, not the baggage allowances, and likewise. Like are the seats comfy, any refreshments, basically your flight.

  • Does having a haircut hurt?

Hey, I'm thinking about getting my hair cut soon, but I am so worried it will hurt? Anyone with any experience of hair cutting give me some tips, eg. breathing exercises, pain relief, etc. Also, do the hairdressers use scissors?

    Thanks in advance!

  • New ear piercing looks dodgy?

I got my ear lobes pierced about 2 weeks ago with a gun, and even now my ears are swollen and red and bleeding and also on my lobes there's lots of flaking, peeling skin that looks a little green. Should I be concerned, and see my local GP, etc. Do you have any tips?

    Thanks in advance!
