  • 1978 Indian Moped won't charge the battery.?

The battery is new, if I charge it using a battery tender it will hold a charge. But the bike will not charge the battery.

Checked to be sure the battery has a solid ground, and there is continuity from the negative terminal to the frame/engine. But the rectifier has no continuity from either terminal. I am assuming that would be my problem, but there are other readings that make me wonder if there is more to it.

Testing the voltage from the magneto to the ground, per service manual recommendations returns about 20v steady, when the acceptable range is supposed to be 2-6v according to the manual. This seems like low voltage to me, but I am not the expert.

This is where I am stuck. Help!

  • In Minnesota, does the landlord have to give a 30 day notice to leave AFTER the lease expires?

My understanding is that after a lease expires, it automatically reverts to a month to month lease.

We received a letter stating we needed to be out in 2 days, with no prior notification of a need to vacate.

So, we should still have 30 days to vacate, right?

BTW we are paying our rent.

  • I got hit in the neck, worried about internal bleeding or any other complications.?

I was playing touch football today, and a jackass thought it would be fun to put a shoulder into me while rushing, this shoulder happened to hit me right in the neck, HARD. I was able to play through it, but it still is bothering me.

It happened at around 11:30am and it is 4:00pm now, and it is still very sore. Swallowing is painful, but not unbearable and turning my head left and right is slightly painful.

But the real thing I am worried about is potential bleeding, as most of my reading about the situation stated that it is possible for you to bleed internally and it could leak into the chest cavity and affect breathing.

About 45 minutes or so after I was done playing, the right side of my chest felt a bit sore. It could very well be just a pulled muscle from the game, but when I breathe in deeply it hurts more intensely.

It does not affect my breathing, nor have I been short of breath or had any headaches, but I want to put my mind at ease.

  • What is a good place to buy camping gear online?

I am looking for something a little better than your standard department store websites, preferably a used or overstock type site.

    Any suggestions?

  • AT&T sim card erased itself, where can I get data recovered?

I know that I can go out and purchase a SIM card reader and use a data recovery tool to recover the data myself, but I really cannot wait for the card reader to arrive in the mail.

Does anyone know if AT&T will do it for you, considering it was THEIR phone that malfunctioned?

  • How does AT&T, and other GSM cell phone companies get away with having phones that interfere with electronics?

I just recently switched from Sprint to AT&T and am starting to get awfully annoyed with the interference caused by their phones.

I know the FCC specifically prohibits these devices from interfering with other devices, yet my phone interferes with my speakers, televisions and other devices.

It even interferes with Playstation controllers causing them to go haywire.

Anyone know how they are getting away with this?

  • Weird feeling in my quad, feels like phone vibrating where there is no phone, what gives?

In the last few days, I have been fooled by my leg into thinking my phone is vibrating.

Right near my right pocket, halfway up my leg where the pocket normally rests, I get this vibration sensation in my quad.

It pulses, like a phone vibrating for a few seconds, pausing for a second and vibrating again. When I touch the area with my hand, I don't feel any movement or vibration.

It has been going on for a few days now, and I am starting to get a little worried, as it is a really odd sensation.

    Any ideas?

  • Recently went through miscarriage, possible RH sensitivity, curious about RH inheritance to the fetus.?

During the miscarriage, I felt the need to get as much information as I could to help her through the ordeal.

In my reading, I came across and article about RH sensitivity. Noting that if the mother is RH negative, it can cause complications with unborn fetuses who do not share the RH negative trait.

Since both she and I are RH negative, and RH negativity is a recessive gene I would think that our child would only come out RH negative as well.

My genetics are a little rusty, and I remember something about alleles causing variances in inherited traits.

Basically what I really want to know is if both the mother and the father are RH negative, then is it necessary to still get the RoGam shot after this miscarriage?

  • In Minnesota, can you file a late state tax return and still receive a refund?

In preparing my taxes, I found out that my significant other did not file her state return last year.

She was entitled to a decent refund, would she still be able to claim it if we filed it now which is almost a year late?

  • 1999 Saturn SL2 runs rough, check engine lights up but no obd codes found, smells like gas.?

As mentioned in the title, this Saturn is having some issues.

First, it runs like it has a bad motor or tranny mount. The entire car shakes, not violently, but shakes none the less. I am not 100% sure the mount is the issue, because I get the feeling it is running on only 3 cylinders.

Plugs and wires were just replaced. Plugs were fried, looked like they hadn't been changed in years.

The car idles high, about 1600-2000 rpms and smells like Gas.

The air filter was melted when I removed it, but the rest of the housing appears to be just fine.

I am not an expert, but it seems to me like the only thing that could cause a melted air filter would be if the combustion in one of the chambers was back blowing into the air intake.

But again, I am no expert.

Check engine light comes on, but resets when car is shut off. Does not report any ODB II codes for me to follow up on.

Any experts have any ideas? or other things to try?

  • '89 200 quattro with wrong water pump.?

This model Audi had a change in the motor mid-production and it switched timing belts from square teeth to rounded "super-torque" belts. The VIN number was supposed to be the determining factor as to which version of water pump you needed.

So following the VIN number we ordered the newer version of the water pump with teeth for the round timing belt and it is the wrong one.

After consulting with my Audi "Expert", he said that as long as it was not jumping the belt it would be fine.

After the installtion of the water pump, the car is building too much pressure in the cooling system and all the coolant is being sent out the radiator cap relief valve.

Here is the one we needed:

    http://www.autozone.com/R,3019598/vehicleId,102870...

And here is the one we got:

    http://www.autozone.com/R,370480/vehicleId,1028701...

If you notice, the diameter of the gear in the one we got is smaller than the original. I would think that would spin faster and could possibly be the cause of the problem.

I wanted to know what you all thought...

  • '89 200 Quattro overflowing pressure valve before it even heats up?

I have an '89 Audi 200 Quattro that is building up too much pressure in the coolant right after startup.

So much to the point that it is blowing out the relief valve on the radiator cap pretty much right when you start to accellerate moderately. So much that I have to add coolant every 60 miles or so.

I have not noticed anything resembling water in the oil, nor oil in the coolant. No white or blue smoke at all.

    I should mention:

Replaced the water pump, the pump we replaced it with had narrower teeth than the rest of the gears on the timing belt.

I replaced the radiator cap, still has same problem.

There is no thermostat installed, which I found out 5 minutes ago while attempting to see if the thermostat is seized.

It is running straight water in the cooling system now, because I am not made of money.

The turbo was modified by a previous owner.

Does not seem to have lost any power, but runs rough sometimes.

    Any ideas?

  • Can someone tell me the name of this SNES or NES game?

It was a top scrolling game where you were a flying a ship around.

I seem to recall it being similar to Legend of Zelda as far as how it's scrolling worked. With you being able to explore a fairly large area, but having to move through a door of some type to load a different area.

I don't remember exactly what the game was about, only that it was fun. Much of the objective seemed to be around collecting white orbs.

I wish I could give a better description, but I was awfully young when I played it.

  • I came in contact with some rodent feces today, what should my major concerns be?

Yesterday, someone in the house noticed a small furry thing running around in the basement. We have yet to get a good glimpse at the thing, so we don't know what it is.

Anyhow, I picked up a bundle of clothing that was on the floor by the washing machine and noticed a few chunks of what can only be described as rodent feces.

I know that their droppings can spread some pretty nasty diseases.

I touched it with my hands, since I didn't see it. I also probably disturbed it enough to cause some of it to get into the air.

  • Bit by stray kitten, how worried should I be about Rabies?

So I was trying to get a ~10 week old kitten out from behind a dumpster, and the little guy bit me twice.

After getting him into the car and bringing him to the shelter, he appears to be simply a scared kitten with no real aggressive tendencies.

The shelter is going to hold him in quarantine for 10 days to keep an eye out for a rabies infection.

Now, the question I have is that going to put me at a real risk if the cat does turn out to be rabid?

I know the incubation period is 2 weeks to a year for humans, and I can imagine the incubation period is less for cats, but I don't know for sure.

I have done much reading, but found nothing about how worried I should be if we have the animal in question.

    Any information would be great.

  • Is it weird that the cartiladge in my adam's apple moves?

One day I was in the middle of laughing at something so ridiculously funny, that I couldn't stop. That is, until something happened that scared me so much that I immediately stopped laughing.

One of the rings of cartilage in my adam's apple had jumped out of it's socket, and was now off to the left.

I put my hand to my neck, and felt it, and then pushed it back into socket.

Ever since then, it has done it periodically and always pops back when I move it back.

My question is, is it something that I should be worried about?

My logic tells me that it is really nothing to worry about, as it hasn't caused me any issues and does not interfere with anything.

But I still felt I should ask people about it... Never asked my Doctor because whenever I see him, it is for more pressing concerns.

  • Does anybody have any information about the Panthers shopping Julius Peppers?

I keep on hearing and seeing rumors that Carolina is quietly shopping Julius Peppers.

I have yet to find anything real on the internet, except for one short mention of it on NFL.com.

Anyone hear anything else? Please provide links if you have info, as unsourced information is useless.

  • Dermabond vs super glue, is there really a toxicity issue with ethyl-2 cyanoacrylate?

I recently had a fairly good cut to my hand. After the stitches were removed, the doctor used Dermabond over the cut to keep it together for the last few weeks of healing.

Due to the location, the dermabond has started to peel off and the wound is still "open". Open meaning everything is healed, but there is still a 1/4 of an inch deep opening (originally it was a good inch deep) gash that is healing.

Anyhow, rather than have to go back for a re-application of dermabond, it was suggested by a friend of mine to use super glue to save myself some money.

After some research, I found that dermabond is essentially the same as super glue, with a lower toxicity level.

It also appears that superglue itself was used to close wounds , though it was never approved for that use by the government.

Anyhow, after all that, my question is: should I use super glue to close it back up?
