Neerie
I'm a 29 years old woman living in Quebec, Canada. My native language is French, though I do manage to surprise oh so many when I tell them that! I love animals, I've had many pets in my life including several cats and dogs, a hamster, fishes, parakeets, finches, mice, tortoises. I currently have some fishes and 2 really sweet male rats. I like fantasy novels, my favorite being The Fionavar's Tapestry trilogy by Guy Gavriel Kay. I love Tim Burton's movies and Danny Elfman's soundtrack music. I love japanese animation, of most kind, though some really don't appeal to me. I also like to play video games, mostly strategy RPGs, good RPGs, DDR, some shooters (though I am bad at them). But overall any genre but sports games and extreme violent games. I'm usually bad at those profile descriptions but currently amaze myself at how long I've been going.
iPhone photo album trouble?
My photo album on iPhone 4 is hidden under the header 'Albums', making it impossible to click and view pics that way. Anyone knows a fix?

2 AnswersPreferences and Settings1 decade agoHow to officially opt out of religion.?
As a baby, I was baptized into catholic church.
As a kid I went through communion and confirmation, mostly just because everyone just does it (heck, they are pretty much introduced as just any other classes at school if your parents decided to register you to the religious classes). So that means that in the worldwide statistics, I am counted as a catholic.
But honnestly, I don't give a damn about religion, I am atheist, and while I'm sure there are a bunchload of people like me stuck in the wrong statistical group, I was wondering how to set things straight?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoSims 2: Scholarship and money earned in college...?
My sim had 3,000 simoleons as scholarship before heading to college, so 3.5k total. That was still too short to rent a place, and I wanted to have fun in the dorms. She's been having great grades and earning 1.2k every semester.
At first I was thinking: great, she's gonna have a great start when she's out of college. But reading some online now, I have my doubts...
So my question is: will she keep the money she has earned in scholarship and for her grades once she graduates? If not, if I spend it all on clothes and furniture and other things, will she keep all that?
2 AnswersVideo & Online Games1 decade agoWhy do people love fish soups so much?
I'm reading the fish section... and I'm seriously appalled. Why do people insist on cramming their tank with the most fish/the most amount of different species, as physically possible?
Are people just simply ignorant?
Are they all just not realizing that there are dozens and dozens of specialized forums and websites out there where they could actually learn about the PROPER care of fish?
Don't they realize that fish are living creatures that deserve respect?
Don't they realize that choosing the type of fish to put in a tank is not simply about the number of gallons?
Don't they realize that water has more parameters than just temperature?
Don't they realize that just because a fish is small, even as an adult, doesn't mean that a small tank is suitable?
Don't they realize that the behaviour of a fish is just as important to factor in as it's size?
Why do people insist on creating fish soups? Not to mention, why do they insist on buying fishes that are supposed to ultimately grow bigger than their tank (pleco in a 10 gallon anyone???)
7 AnswersFish1 decade agoConnected with limited access...?
Ok so I'm very annoyed. For about a month now, I've had to disconnect, and reconnect to my wireless network because I seem to loose internet connection.
I'm still very well connected to my router (wirelessly), and the modem is still very well functioning, and every time just disconnecting and reconnecting does the trick... until it drops again a few hours later.
My question is why does it do that? Why can't I have a stable and steady connection if both router and modem are working as they should?
4 AnswersComputer Networking1 decade agoAir pump and stones...?
... are they absolutely necessary?
I'm planning my aquarium right now. As much as I would love to have a planted one and build up a real ecosystem, I just can not go for that right now, so I'm resorting on "classic" plastic plants for decor. However I'm affraid that not having real live plants might cause my water to be under oxygenated.
So my question again: will my filter (an AquaClear) suffice at moving the water around and allow water to be oxigenated, or do I need to purchase an air pump and air stones? They look cool, but so fake at the same time...
7 AnswersFish1 decade agoDownload + retail box purchase...?
I was thinking of purchasing a PC game online and I have the option of either just a download, or download + retail box, the second only charging shipping on top of the same game price.
My question is, and it might sound really stupid, by retail box, they do mean including the game disk right?
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games1 decade agoReporting messages received?
Ok so I have allowed people to send me email through yahoo answers. So far so good and it has been pleasant. However I have just received basically hate mail because of, at least I assume, an answer I gave somewhere.
I did not see any report button or link on the email received from the Yahoo answer services. Are the mails we get from people through yahoo answer excluded from the community guidelines? If not, how do we report harassing, threatening or otherwise abusive emails?
5 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoNaked bodies: why freak out?
Why have people become ashamed of the human body to the point of censoring nature? Why can't some people just view the naked human body for what it is: a body. Why does nakedness always has to be perceived as pornographic?
It has come to a point where kids are not even allowed to see uncensored pictures of the David statue in some schools. I just read a question from a kid looking for a representation of Adam and Eve, where they had to be clothed because it was for a school project.
It has come to the point where some websites consider the image of a baby breastfeeding to be pornographic, when in fact it is the most natural way to feed a baby.
Some parents are so ashamed of the naked body, that they will even purposefully choose to not use certain words: penis, vulva, clitoris... usually preferring to refer to them with other names or just with the general "down there".
Seriously, what's wrong with people? Why are you not afraid to call a nose a nose but you are so afraid to call a penis a penis. What is so scary about a breastfeeding picture? Why are so many people freaking out by the naked body if it's not done in a pornographic way?
5 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoIs it safe to keep battery in laptop at all time?
I don't actually move my Toshiba laptop much at all, so it's pretty much always plugged in with the adaptor.
So my question is: is it safe to keep the battery pack in the laptop at all time or should I remove the battery when it's fully charged and I plan on using the computer for extended periods while plugged in?
2 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks1 decade ago[Mostly for religious people] If you needed an organ transplant...?
... and the only one available that could save your life came from someone from a different religion or a homosexual. Would you accept the transplant or refuse it and hope that another compatible donor dies before it's too late?
This is all hypothetical really, as I am well aware that the identity, with all the related info, should never be given to the recipient or it's family, but what if...
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWith all the different religions based on the Bible...?
... how can anyone seriously think that any of them is better or truer than any other? How can they not then understand that religion is a man-made thing?
I'm always ready to settle with the fact that someone believes in God, even if I don't believe in God myself, I just have a problem with the fact that there are all those different religions that claim to believe in the same God, with their different interpretations of the Bible, each with a different list of what they consider right and wrong.
It's just so illogical! Yet there are so many preachers out there telling everyone else that they are wrong.
7 AnswersHomosexuel, bisexuel, et transgenre1 decade agoWhy do some people waste time on Yahoo! Answers...?
... when they really should just run straight to the hospital or the vet?
I mean, sure there are some questions that are not about anything urgent, like: "I have a rash on my arm, what can it be?"
But when I see questions like: "My hamster/cat/dog is bleeding, what can I do?", "I felt something hard up my cervix, I'm pregnant and am having cramps, could this be the baby's head?", "My baby is crying and has been refusing to eat for the past two days, what's wrong?"
I really wonder why some people seem to think that Yahoo! Answers is better than seeing a specialist, especially in the case of emergencies such as the examples posted above. Why do some people seem so... dare I say stupid?
(Note that I pulled the examples out of my own mind, paraphrasing questions I have seen all over the place here in the past few days)
5 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoFor beginners, what's the best way to start if...?
... you don't have a lot of space and you are on a very tight budget?
I should soon finally move out in my own apartment (yay!) and I've been wanting an aquarium for years. Now I'm not totally ignorant when it comes to fishes, my mother used to have a big one with many freshwater fishes, so I know better than to get just a fishbowl.
The thing is, I won't have much room for anything big, and will also be on a tight budget. Mind you, I'd still rather pay a little more for a quality set that will last me for some years than something really cheap and crappy that will break within months.
Any advice on the type of equipment I should get? I've looked online and there are so many products at various prices that I wouldn't even know where to start, and I just have no idea how to tell the good from the crap?
Any advice would be appreciated.
9 AnswersFish1 decade agoWhere and how have you met?
I'm 28, almost 29 now, but my love life probably totals 20 months of actual relationship (including the one boyfriend I had before I realized I was a lesbian, excluding online relationships with women I have never actually met). So overall, I am quite depressed about it. I am far from ugly, but I am the shy type and don't go out much in RL.
So my question is: where and how have you met your partner? I'm mostly looking for women's answers here, but will also gladly accept guy's. I'm hoping that this will give me ideas of where to go to meet people and maybe find love. I'm just not the clubbing type to start with...
11 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender1 decade agoBisexual women lifestyle choices. Why?
Why do so many bisexual women seem to live under the following lifestyles?:
- "I love both men and woman, but I don't want to have a steady lesbian relationship"
- "I want to have a lesbian relationship, but my boyfriend should never find out!"
- "There is no way I could only have a girlfriend, I need to have a boyfriend too."
Ok now don't go and flame, I know that not every bisexual women are like that and that many are very happy to live a steady lesbian relationship, but why does it seem that for so many other bisexuals, the lesbian part of themselves should only be restricted to sexual hook-ups once in a while?
It always seems so difficult to find another woman who is willing to commit in a relationship, I feel I'm doomed to just remain single for the rest of my life just because I am a lesbian looking for something more than just sex.
5 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender1 decade agoHow old were you when you figured it out?
Some are quicker to figure out their own sexual preferences than others. I see some young teenagers post here in panic, trying to put a label on themselves.
I personally figured out that I was a lesbian at around 23 years old (without even having a lesbian relationship first). But how about you? How old were you when you figured out you were gay, lesbian or bisexual?
