My house has a gas fireplace, but even with the flu closed, cold air comes in. Is there something I can put in the fireplace that will keep the air from coming through?

  • Does the FCC limit the discount a phone company can give a customer?

My wife has had more than her share of problems with Verizon, we have our phone and internet and cable through them. We had a discount on our account from a previous mistake made by them, and when they lied to us a second time they told us that the FCC mandates that only one credit for a maximum of $20 could be issued. Tell me what I already suspect, that this woman is lying through her teeth.

  • Help with taxes!! Confused.?

Okay. I filed and got my return back this year already, using Turbotax online. The night before we got our refund direct deposited into our account, I realized that I entered the wrong information about the amount of student loan interest I paid. I changed the filing and it increased the amount of my refund by $300. My problem is, the "original" amount of my refund (minus the $300) was direct deposited into my account the following day and my filed tax forms don't indicate that anything needs to be "changed" because I filed the night before my refund. The only difference is that my refund is short $300. What do I need to do?

  • What else can I do for this lady?

A few details: There's a woman I heard about on the news who is about to lose her home if she can't come up with $3,000 in legal fees from her HOA foreclosing on her home for nonpayment of HOA fees. Her husband passed away in his sleep and she has spent a long time living off the meager savings she has left. She has been laid off from her most recent job(s), but she did manage to purchase her home outright with the insurance money. But now, because she hadn't paid the HOA fee, they have foreclosed on her home. I find this to be a disgusting way for one neighbor to treat another but that's a topic for another time. I have started an online campaign to raise funds (and awareness), and have contacted her local church to see if they can help. Anyone else have any ideas? Are there any government programs that may be of assistance to her?? Thanks in advance.

  • Is non lethal ammunition available for...?

Handguns? I just wonder because it sounds like a good idea. I know about tasers, but I'm wondering if there are rubber bullets or electric bullets that fit standard pistols. Links are definitely appreciated. Thank you.

  • Any idea how much my friend's gun is worth?

A friend of mine has a Colt Lightning revolver, the first double action revolver Colt firearms produced. We've looked online but have yet to come up with a value. He also has a cool period holster too, and the gun is in perfect condition, no bluing, no rust.

  • What if you didn't file taxes one year?

Say there was a year that you were between jobs and you were unemployed. Do you still file a tax return for that year that you had zero income? What are the implications if you didn't? My friend is curious and I'm clueless. Thanks

  • Computer guru help needed!!?

Just bought a new Gateway desktop and for some reason ...anytime we click on an application, no matter what it is, the computer just freezes up, requiring a hard reboot (turning off the computer at the powerstrip). It won't let us do anything. We use the computer primarily for surfing the internet. Should I run the antivirus software and see if that cures the problem before taking the tower back to Best Buy to have them run a diagnostic or do you think that's a bad idea? Thanks.

Okay, so we suffered a critical failure on our computer yesterday - it just shut down and we couldn't restart it...it gave us an error message. We finally were able to restart the computer and wiped the hard drive back to factory settings but now the computer won't recognize the extra hard drive. Any suggestions?
