Adopting my sister's child?
I am a 31 year old single woman. I am currently not working as I am disabled and receive social security for disability of $450. Before becoming disabled, I was a teacher. I live with my mom as she is my caretaker. Because of my health conditions I am unable to have kids of my own, and for this reason my little sister is willing to give me her next born. She is doing so on her own free will, neither did I ask her nor did I even hint at it. She knows how much I love children and how good an aunt I am with her 2 yr old.
My question is: what are the legal issues I will face with such an adoption? Since she is willfully handing me her child, will the legal system scrutinize my monthly 'income' or take into consideration my health conditions? What should I expect in regards to this situation? Please answer only if you know for sure what you're talking about. This is a very sensitive subject to me and I request that you respect that. Thank you in advance.
7 AnswersAdoption9 years agosweating while eating?
I have a serious problem that has now gotten so out of hand, that I now weigh 78 lbs, and severely malnourished. I do have other serious health conditions that have resulted in such low weight, but the sweating, hot flashes and SEVERE discomfort while eating is preventing me from even attempting to eat.
I suffer from advanced Crohns Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis and chronic pancreatitis (I DO NOT drink) and I am 30 years old. This sweating thing started back in 2009, and no matter how cold the room is, no matter how light my clothing is, I have massive amounts of sweat on my forehead, checks, neck, dripping from my temples!! Oh, its sooooooooo frustrating. First of all I have zero appetite, then add this problem to the list and you have a surefire case of 'What-the-heck-do-I-do'?????? Its become a habit of mine to take no more than 2-3 bites and just leave the table out of sheer frustration.
I dont rush either, I slow down, turn the temp down, think happy thoughts, yet no help. Currently Im trying to make do with ensure and boost, but Im dying to eat like a normal person, especially because I HAVE to put on some weight. PLEASE, if any knowledgeable person reading this can help me out, I will be eternally grateful.
p.s ~ Im a self-pay patient,so I cant just up and go see a doctor whenever I want to. Unless I have a relapse and Im admitted through the emergency, they require me to pay in full, which I cant do all the time.

I noticed Canadians are a lot friendlier, optimistic and polite when compared to my fellow Americans. Please opine.

2 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoSerious life decision, I'm at the end of my tether...please help.?
This is a very serious question, meant to be answered by those who are experienced in Culinary school, and those who will be helpful with any knowledge about this matter. It is not for someone who will say something funny or silly.
I have an AA degree and am currently earning my Bachelors in Education/Psychology. I am more than halfway through, but I am having a falling out with this! I would much rather pursue something in Culinary Arts, as cooking is my love, passion and everlong interest. I have a few friends who are looking for jobs as a teacher unsuccessfully. It kinda scares me.
Can anyone please advise me on the pay scale, difficulty scale and the hours a professional chef usually works? Anything you know will help me.
Thank you all in advance!

1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoWhat is your choice of salad dressing?
What is your favorite salad dressing, and describe the taste too. Im asking this out of curiosity as well as the need to get an idea of how different dressings taste. I stay within the boundaries of ranch and creamy french. I always walk through the vast dressing isle and wonder what 'Green Goddess' or 'Russian' or 'Catalina' would taste like. Your input is very much appreciated.
Also, what dressing do you dislike. I HATE italian dressing and balsamic vinaigrette.
12 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoWOW......I thought I would never do it?
I broke my own record. I was off from work because I wasnt well, so I ordered pizza for me and my sisters. I ended up eating the whole medium cheese pizza, except for 1 slice. Which Ill eat for dinner maybe. Im doubling over, but it was so good. Plus I had good company, and its easy to overeat when its such.
3 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoHow is this possible?
How is it possible that I cant finish a medium pizza on my own, but I could easily finish a veggie delight subway footlong? I usually dont eat a lot, but once in a blue moon I will eat the entire sub on my own. Is that gross?
