  • Unable to connect to websites located on a certain server but have troubleshooted in several ways. Need some help!?

I work for a company who hosts their client websites on a server. Recently I have been unable to access ANY of our client websites. I can use anything else on the internet but whenever I try to go to a client website located on their servers, I get a timeout message. Here is what I have done to troubleshoot and any other pertinent facts.

    1) I am told there have been no changes to their server.

    2) I have removed my firewall in an attempt to connect--no luck.

    3) I tried connecting on my phone but cannot on there either. However, if I turn off Wi-Fi and use phone data, I can connect.

    4) I tried connecting directly to my modem to avoid the router to see if that was an issue--no dice.

    5) I went to the library down the street who uses the same internet provider to attempt to connect to the websites--they load there.

    6) I have not done an update recently on my computer.

    7) Flash and Java are up to date.

    8) I have tried accessing from all three of the browsers on my computer--no luck.

My company insists that it is nothing on there end, but nothing has changed on my end and it is specifically an issue with the sites on their servers. Any suggestions? Anything else I should try? This is affecting my work so it's kind of a big issue...THANKS IN ADVANCE!

  • What last name to give adopted child?

I am divorced, and kept my husband's last name because I wanted it to match my daughter's name. I am currently a single mom as a foster parent and am open to the idea of adopting. If I adopted, what last name should I give the adopted child? I want them to feel like a part of the family, but is it inconsiderate to my ex-husband's family if I were to give the child our same last name? I do not want to change me and my daughter's last name to my maiden name because I don't want my daughter to have to change her name, then change it AGAIN some day when she got married. I've thought about maybe just keeping the child's original last name, but then they may not feel as though they are truly a part of our family if they have a different last name. Has anyone else been in this situation? If so, what did you decide and why? Also, if you are an adopted child and faced a similar situation, how was it handled? Keep in mind that we're talking about a younger child (newborn to three years) that would not have a true "say" in the decision. Thanks guys!

  • Can I claim my daughter on taxes if my ex doesn't?

During my divorce, I found out that my ex didn't file his taxes the first year apart because he knew he owed. I filed 2010 taxes and claimed my daughter, and the judge never did anything about it. During the court hearing, the judge ordered that I get to claim my daughter on even years, and he gets to claim her on odd years, provided he is up to date on child support. When I filed my 2011 taxes, he wasn't, so I claimed her. I will claim her next spring for the 2012 taxes. Now, come 2013, if he is caught up on child support (which he is now and will be if he happens to keep this job--payments are garnished), he will technically be able to claim her. However, if he isn't filing taxes anyway, can I? For example, come April 15th, can I call and find out if her SSN was filed, and if not, claim her myself? I do contract work where my taxes don't come out, and even when I claim her, I break even (slight refund, no payment). If I don't get to claim her, I'd have to pay out thousands in taxes. It would make a huge difference. What could I do? (And no, "asking" my ex is not an option, haha!)

  • California Law on False Allegations of Abuse in Child Custody Cases?

I am looking for the exact law or statute regarding what I believe is only a California law. If someone brings about a false allegation of abuse during a child custody case and the allegation is investigated and proven to be false, the other parent can relinquish full rights of the child based on the malicious intent by the other parent. I've read online many places that this law exists, but only in California, but no references to the exact law or statue. If anyone can lead me in the right direction on this, that would be great. Thanks!

  • What other online business certifications are there other than the BBB?

I have a client of mine that has an online ecommerce business and is looking for certain online certifications to help build credibility and trust for those looking to do business with him. He's been online for about 20 years, and is looking for a way to encourage customers to do business with him and feel safe and secure in purchasing his products. Other than the Better Business Bureau, what are other certifications and "stamps of approval" programs that are online that would benefit him?

  • Satine died from tuberculosis in Moulin Rouge, but was it ever actually STATED in the movie?

My husband and I are having a debate, and want to save ourselves from having to actually sit and watch the DVD Moulin Rouge with Nicole Kidman. Here is the argument. We understand that Satine, Nicole Kidman's character, died from tuberculosis. BUT, my argument is yes, she died from tuberculosis, but never once in the movie did they actually "diagnose" her with that, nor anywhere in the movie is the word "tuberculosis" said. He says it is, I say it's not. I've gone through movie scripts online and no where does it say the word tuberculosis, but he says they must not be accurate and are wrong. Anyone a huge fan of Moulin Rouge? Do they actually say "tuberculosis" in the movie Moulin Rouge?
