  • How much dry food does my indoor neutered cat need?

    Hello,

I have a 3 year old indoor short-haired neutered male cat. Recently he's started to develop a "pooch" on his belly. Up until now I've simply left his food bowl full to let him eat what he wants. He eats only high quality dry food.

He's very happy and healthy but I want to get his weight under control before it gets to be an issue. Roughly how much food should he have each day?

    Thank you.

  • Working out / creatine after the flu?

I have been taking creatine pills and working out 3-4 times a week until last week when I got the flu. I stopped taking creatine and working out while I was sick to help maintain proper hydration. I'm over the flu but it's taking awhile to get my strength back up and have not started going to the gym again yet. How long should I give myself to recover before I resume my workout regime?

  • Best supplements and workout to build muscle mass (creatine and whey protein)?

I am trying to put on a little bit of muscle mass. I have been working out 5 days a week, typically 30 minutes of the elliptical machine followed by 30 minutes of a few different machine weights.

I went to a popular nutrition chain store to look into supplements to help me out. The lady there sold me a bottle of "Amplified Creatine 189" pills and a bag of "100% whey protein". Her instructions were to cut the workouts down to 3 nights a week, take a pill 45 minutes before and right after the workout, and drink a protein shake 30-45 minutes after the workout.

Is that good advice, and are those the best supplements for me to take?

  • Attacked by a bird dream?

My older brother had a dream about me recently. Here's how it went according to him.

"Someone lifted my brother up into a tree so he could take some eggs from a bird’s nest. He got two eggs and was holding them up proudly when the bird who owned the nest started swooping at him. Finally the bird dove straight for his chest and pierced it, leaving a wound. The wound was round and had this greenish puss in it that would sort of ooze out but not come all the way out, kind of like when you squeeze a tube of something, but you don’t squeeze it enough to come out all the way and it sucks back in when you let go.

Anyway, I was carrying him around, trying to find help and he became ill. He sort of shriveled up and became really weak. We finally found a place with a bunch of kids who were in the same condition. He was in pain, but they seemed to have moved beyond it."

  • Why are my plants tips brown?

I have multiple plants in my office right by a window which gets little direct light.

I have 2 kinds of spider plants, multiple bromileads, and some ivy. The spider plants and bromileads aren't doing better than "OK". The tips of the leaves keep whithering and dieing off. What am I doing wrong?

I mist the bromileads daily and water the spider plants 2-3 x a week (it's really dry here in the office). I lightly fertilize 2-3x a month. Any advice?

  • An anime like berserk?

I have been out of anime for years. I'd like to get into a new anime series or movie. I really liked Berserk, action packed but not really "kiddy" like onepiece or pokemon.

    Any recommendations?

  • What "Light Level" is my apartment?

    Hello!

I want to get some houseplants for my new apartment, but I'm not sure what level of light I have. The only natural light in the living room comes from a double sided sliding glass door. I have a small balcony that reaches about 3-4 ft out from the glass door. The balcony is positioned such that it never receives any DIRECT sunlight, so no direct sunlight gets into the apartment, either.

If I leave the blinds open, what light level would the area right by the door be? How about 10-12 ft inside from the door?

On top of that, can you recommend some good "interesting" fast-growing indoor trees that would work well in the light level right by the door?

    Thank you in advance!

  • Pet for my desk at work?

    Hello,

I want to get a pet for my desk at work. I don't want a fish tank, because I have to move a lot and they're too heavy. I can go as big as a 10 gallon tank. I can't have anything that makes noise, so croaking frogs/toads are not doable. I also don't want people to be scared to come into my office because there's some big scaly or hairy creature in there.

I was thinking some kind of tropical lizard, so they would mostly blend into the plants and not cause people to freak out when they come in my office. Any suggestions?

  • How do I change the coolant in my 97 chevy lumina?

    Hello,

The low coolant light started flashing at me in my 1997 Chevy Lumina a few days ago. I took off the metal cap and saw that the coolant is a rusty mud color... not nice at all. It's full up to the point it should be, though.

So I'm thinking I should flush out the coolant. How do I do that?

Also, any guesses on why it's colored that way? Is it actually rust from something, or is it colored that way because oil is leaking into it?

    Thanks in advance.

  • 95 Dodge Intrepid won't start.. Cam shaft / Crank shaft position sensors?

    Hello,

I have a used 95 dodge intrepid that was running fine for about 6 months. Last month it stopped running.. would turn over but wouldn't actually start. We had it towed to a mechanics, after a week in the shop they charged us @ $360 to replace the cam shaft and crank shaft position sensors. It ran just fine after that.

Now, a month later, the same thing has happened.. car won't start, similar issue.

How do I check and see if it is the cam shaft and crank shaft position sensors that went out again?

How do I replace those sensors if that is the problem, and about how much do the parts cost?

Please keep in mind that I'm reasonably handy, but I am not very familiar with cars.

Websites / personal stories / any info would be helpful.

    Thank you,

    Hello,

We are trying to teach my new kitten to stay away from certain rooms and places in our apartment. We have purchased "Boundary Indoor / Outdoor cat repellent" to help us with this. On the back, though, it says "Hazard to Humans and Domestic Animals". The active ingredients are

  • Can I flush kitty litter down the toilet?

    Hello,

I have just adopted my first indoor cat from a shelter. I grew up on a farm with MANY outdoor cats, but I've never had one inside before.

Is it ok to flush the everyday clumps of dirty litter down the toilet?

I won't be dumping all the used kitty litter, I plan on trashing the used stuff and putting fresh litter down at least every week. I'm just asking if it's ok for the little stuff in between (the clumped pee and kitty poo). Right now we are using Purinas Tidy Cats Scoop Small Spaces litter, but if there's another kind that's good on smells and is flushable I wouldn't mind switching.

    Thanks!
