  • Air condition repairman installed a surge protector as part of a repair on a compressor?

I have a Carrier 5 ton air condition compressor that is 9 years old and quit working this past Sunday. Luckily, I have a 10 years parts and labor warranty. The company that covers the warranty tried several repairs over the course of a few days, eventually replacing both of the larger sized capacitors and eventually the "start" capacitor. Yesterday when they replaced this last capacitor, they also installed a surge protector. Of course, they said it was to protect my unit and installed it "for free", but I'm concerned that they might be masking a possible short in the compressor itself, or maybe the circuit board. So far, this "fix" is working, but it hasn't been 24 hours yet.

My question is this: can a surge protector possibly mask a short or other electrical problem in the compressor?

  • Rewards for suing former employer for unfair labor practices?

A year ago, one of my co-workers was made my supervisor. Over time, our relationship deterioted and eventually led to this supervisor assaulting me. My company kept secret from me what, if any, discipline he underwent. Since then, I have been disciplined once and scrutinized fairly constantly to the point that I feel like I am being treated unfairly. I think I may have a pretty good case for unfair labor practices. I believe that in my state, Texas, that I cannot file suit against my employer. If I presumably went on to find another job elsewhere and then went back and filed suit against my former employer, would I have a good case? And does anyone have any experience about what sort of reward I could expect, assuming that I do have a good case?

  • In a marriage where we both cheat?

Two years ago, I was basically caught cheating with my ex-GF. Our marriage has been very strained since then. Throughout our 5 year marriage, my wife has been in contact often with an ex of hers. They email each other back and forth often, and often "cyber" through email. Some of the emails make it sound like they have a pretty good sexual relationship going. My wife doesn't know that I know about her ex and that I know that they are having sex. The thing is, I almost don't care if she wants to have sex with me and that other guy too, I just want to be able to do the same thing if/when I want to with a girl if I'm attracted and all that good stuff. What should I do?
