How terrifying is it to be a correctional officer?
The county I live in is looking for correctional officers. I would like to know what kind of qualities it takes for a person to work in county correctional centers for a living. I am curious about other things as well:
Is there a high turn over rate?
What separates the people who stay in the career from the people who leave the field?
Is it more difficult than working in a federal prison?
how frequent are attacks on guards?
Responses from individuals who do this for a living would be ideal.
watching a few episodes of "Oz" will probably not result in a useful response.
thanks for your time.
5 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoget fit before starting class?
I just moved and I now live near a ju-jujitsu school. I feel like it would be best to spend a month or so improving my fitness level before taking classes.
Is my thinking right on? or should I just dive right in and let classes be part of my conditioning?
feel free to recommend specific exercises if there are any that could help.
thanks
5 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoone major muscle group a day while weightlifting?
some people who lift weights focus on one or two body parts a day over the course of 5-7 days. (e.g. Monday is chest/shoulders day, Tuesday is back/biceps day) they hit those specific parts hard and work them once a week.
so if someone spent an entire day working all parts of the body, they would still be training the same muscle groups once per week. so why would a once- total body muscle building routine prove ineffective?
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoWhat % of people actually read the questions they answer?
I mean all of the question, including the "more detail" section where one can clarify their question a little more.
Judging from the responses I get to my inquiries, I would guess around 80 %
If you've actually read to the end of this, please end your response with three period marks... thanks
3 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoWhy do you think that people don't believe in God?
This question is for Christians. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts/ideas on why there are so many who don't believe in God.
When you read atheist comments on yahoo answers do you get angry or frustrated?
Do ever secretly relish the idea that they will suffer for eternity? or do you feel pity for them?
crazy questions, but after reading all the back and forth debating I'm curious.
Thanks

If you could save the lives of 3,000 Kenyan citizens by getting rid of cable TV for one year, would you do it?

20 AnswersFast Food1 decade agoDo you believe that a human life is worth more than another animal's life?
I see so many people who will cry over the death of animals but never even give a second thought to the death of humans.
people who will change their lifestyle/diet to protect animals while they walk around in clothes from a sweatshop.
do you think these people are wrong? are they right?
are humans more valuable than animals?
11 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoIs the practice of medicine bad for the evolution of mankind?
People who would have died and been unable to pass on shoddy DNA can know proliferate.
Microorganisms and pathogens are adapting to the antibiotics we use, while our medicine dependent bodies have stopped adapting to the new microorganisms/pathogens.
If there were no medicine mankind wouldn't be wiped off the face of the earth, but only the strong would survive - wouldn't this be better for the species as a whole?
5 AnswersBiology1 decade agoDoes the Universal child health care cancellation in hawaii prove that universal health care is a mistake?
Hawaii, the only U.S. state to offer universal child health care, is dropping the program just seven months after launching it.
Gov. Linda Lingle's administration cites budget shortfalls and other health care options for eliminating the program. A state official complained that the program was aimed at helping low-income people and immigrants, but that better-off families were dropping private coverage so their children would be eligible for the subsidized plan.
Does this prove that universal healthcare is a bad idea? or would universal health care be different/successful for some reason?

7 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhich religion is right?
Pretty important decision to make. I don't know which way to go - Every religion seems to have some holy literature that claims to be the truth, but I don't know which one to believe.
For those who have decided, what helped you? Did you examine other faiths in detail or just go with what you were raised with?

Just for shits and giggles, let me know what you think of this unworkable, hypothetical idea.

3) How many senators make up the senate?

5) Who is the current vice president?

Do you think this quiz would help or hurt the country?
Do you think it is too easy or hard?
What percentage of voters do you think would get all answers correct? Is the quiz biased or unfair in anyway?
