  • How does commercial linen services work?

I work at a dog grooming salon and we rent towels. On thursdays they come and pick up the dirty towels and drop off clean ones. they have had them for going on two years now and for the first 6 months we had them they were shorting us towels that we were paying for, half the time they do not give us the bags to put the dirty towels in and I was recently told that I am not allowed to wipe pee up and pick up dog poo with the already dirty towels of the day (I throw the poop in the trash can instead of wasting a bunch of paper towels to do this stuff) because our towel company charges us extra if the towels are dirty and especially if there happens to even be one terd in the pile of 200 dirty towels. These towels are super thin some have holes.

I was just wondering what kind of commercial linen service that one of their major things is towel services charges extra for dirty towels! Is that possible? I assume a commercial washing machine would be able to dissolve one tiny piece of poop!? Cloth baby diaper services- I assume there is some poop on almost every diaper and those get cleaned just fine!

  • Petsmart-finishing your 100 dogs?

What happens if you do not finish your 100 dogs in time? If you do go back to the bather what happens to the contract? Will you be sent back to grooming school and back to start your 100 dogs all over again. How does the contract work in that situation. Has anybody had this happen to them?

  • Anyone been through or know about petsmarts grooming academy?

You have to pass a drug test to work at petsmart. Do you have to pass a drug test for their grooming academy? Honestly I would think they would because they are teaching a useful skill and paying you during it? (whether or not it is the best place to get those skills at)...So i was just wondering if they give you a drug test for the grooming academy?

  • Dog Grooming as Career?

I have thought about when i was younger to become a dog groomer but just didn't see where i could get the training and opportunity to be trained. I got a job in a dog grooming place and now i am just a bather and they are going to start training me to be a dog groomer. A few ladies i work with tell me that i do not want to be doing this for the rest of my life, but i feel like the ones who say this were bathers once and took the opportunity to be trained and kinda of got "stuck" in that career (having babies, no money for school etc. etc.) and had plans or at least not that plan, to have a career in something else.

I was just wondering from someone who has been a dog groomer for many years is it a good career to be in? Is it something you like to do? Do you wish you had done something else? Is it a good career to grow in? Start your own business in? Do people who own dog grooming businesses have benefits for their employees type stuff? Is it something that if I am taking the opportunity to be trained to groom dogs and i like it, do i want to stay with this career? Is it worth it in the long run even if i do like it?
