Why is cat not nursing her kittens and what can we do about it?
So one of our cats just gave birth to 3 kittens (so far) and for now she just left them there on our bed and withdrew to clean herself, follow us around, eat, etc. She barely ate half a placenta, I had to cut and remove the rest myself, and she hasn't started nursing yet. I believe it's been 2 hours now and her kittens are whining (she's deaf so she can't hear them) so what I wanna know is a) when will she start nursing them, if ever? And b) would it be okay if I introduced our other older female cat to them now so she'd clean them up properly while their mother's resting away from them?
1 AnswerCats8 years agoAnyone experiencing these issues with the Lumia 920 camera? Red-eye, blurry photos, random lights?
They're mostly in night and low-light photos but even day photos appear too blurred out or too flat or low contrast sometimes. We did install the latest camera update from December.
Issue #1: the infamous red-eye effect. It ruins most of our photos and we need to retake them several times until we find like one in ten that doesn't have evil glowing red eyes.

Issue#2: light glares. You know, like when you squint and all the lights looking glaring and fuzzy. I realize some are due to excessive motion but it also shows up in shots that are very still.
What bothers me about this exactly is that the lens is positioned so that it very easily gets smudged and all the lights get fuzzy so we'd have to constantly clean it after every other photo, and even then the lights still glare. I didn't have this problem with the galaxy note even though its camera's still positioned the same way, aligned straight with the surface.

Also I've noticed some other weird effect that's not necessarily annoying, just strange. When you take low-light photos of the night sky the camera sometimes decides to add its own stars :p
These aren't really stars...or at least I didn't see any when I took the photo...where did they come from?

Don't tell me the camera's so strong it picks up lights that aren't visible by the naked eye?
obviously I'm not well-versed with cameras and I've just recently got this phone so I'd appreciate any tips or tweaks to get around these problems. I was hoping the Lumia would save me having to buy a high quality digital camera but I was a little disappointed at the results :/
4 AnswersCameras8 years agoIs my cat deaf? (morelettersforstupidquestionrule)?
Here's why we suspect she's deaf at least in one ear:
1) She never responds to auditory stimuli. she's the only cat among our 4 cats who still doesn't respond to her name. When it's meal time all the cats wake up and come running at the first sound of a bag/can opening but she just stays there sleeping ever so soundly. even when we approach her and call her loudly she doesn't flinch. We literally have to nudge her to wake her up.
2. She's naturally very vocal, but meows relatively louder than the others. I mean her meows are inappropriately loud and random sometimes!
3. She's a white Turkish Angora with heterochromia, which I hear are particularly prone to deafness.
On the other hand, she's just aloof in nature, really. She's completely oblivious to most stimuli around her anyway, she ignores the other cats when they glomp or play with her and she's only set on interacting with us (humans). On the rare occasion that she does get playful with other cats, though, she has perfectly quick reflexes and good coordination.
So, how do we tell for sure if she's deaf or just "autistic" in nature?
3 AnswersCats8 years agobaby cottontails randomly dying?
i've been trying to raise baby cottontails to maturity but seem to fail and it's very heart-breaking. they were three little cotton balls, approximately a month old. I've had 2 bunnies suddenly die in 2 consecutive days. minutes prior, they seem perfectly healthy, running around, eating well and licking us and digging into our hands and feet for love and attention. i understand that it's a natural predisposition for them to hide symptoms of illness so well that we can't detect any, but i want to know what i'm doing wrong and what to watch out for. i have a few guesses i'm looking to confirm here..
for one thing, i've been feeding them fresh vegetables as opposed to nutrient-packed pellets and hay. should their diet have more variety than all-you-can-eat veggie buffets?
another thing which is less likely in my opinion is stress, since i'm raising them along with my 2 cats. i say unlikely because they always seem so comfortable around each other, my cats are so affectionate and nurturing towards them and they don't tackle them as much as the other way around. the bunnies always seem to curl up underneath them and follow them around like they genuinely believe they're their mommies.
i'd appreciate any ideas and guidance to help keep the third little bunny alive and well. im worried about getting too attached to him now and feel like a lousy parent =(
3 AnswersOther - Pets1 decade agoWindows Live Messenger problems...?
Even though I have the preferences set otherwise (so don't tell me to simply change my settings/preferences), my windows live messenger (latest version) keeps...
1) returning my display picture to default every time i run it, not even storing it
2) showing me the MSN Today window
3) my Windows Live Messenger windows are always framed with a thin red line, which is weird. If anyone has tried sharing your screen with someone on Skype, it looks like that same red frame on your screen.
I've tried reinstalling it and reinstalling MSN plus. didn't work.

3 AnswersMSN1 decade agois this normal after tooth extraction?
okay It's been five days since the surgical extraction of my lower molar. Ive been through bleeding (guess i didnt position my gauze right and couldnt form a clot), swelling, aching of my entire jaw, infection and PROLONGED PAIN. Now all that seems common but whats weird it this, the blood clot is supposed to form on top of the socket, so it would heal and close up beneath it right? Well i had my socket wide open with the clot inside at the bottom of what seems to be the chasm of hell and now its closing up on it (along with the stitches inside too. Surgeon said they would dissolve. They didnt.) so am i suppose to let it close up like that? And wait out this exhausting med-immune pain? Please help its freaking me out o.o
4 AnswersDental1 decade agoTooth extraction: concerned about the healing process?
I'm in my 3rd day after my lower molar extraction and I'm still using dental gauze to try to form a blood clot :/ it keeps dissolving around the extraction site and forming bloody puss. this can't be normal, it's my third surgical extraction and, despite having had minor infections before that would subside with antibiotics and salt water, this never happened. should i be concerned? i REALLY don't want to dislodge my barely-forming clot and get a dry socket, it's painful enough as it is with the swollen gums and aching jaw. so..
is the pain and swelling normal on the third day?
is this a sign of infection i need to consult my dental surgeon about?
what else can i do to promote healing beside the usual "avoid vigorous gargling and hot liquids and practice good dental hygene"?
please help =_= i havent slept since the extraction, the pain likes to increase tenfolds when i'm lying down, the bashteeerd
