  • Deferred from Binghamton?

Maybe to my own fault, I was under the impression that I would be accepted to Binghamton early action.

I have a 3.8 unweighted with 4 AP classes, and 11 honors classes total in high school. I scored 690 writing, 650 math, and 640 reading. I have played tennis all four years in high school and have played USTA tournaments as well. I have volunteered for 3 summers at a children's hospital (oh which my essay related to), volunteer for the midnight run, am an editor for the school newspaper, teach tennis lessons, and am the president of the usher's club.

Was I really unrealistic to think that I would be accepted early action to Binghamton? Or do I have a legitimate beef with them?

  • What was that Food Network Show with a Former Cop?

There was this show that I used to like which consisted of a former cop going to different cities and tasting/cooking food with restaurant chefs. He was pretty fat and he was bald, as well. What was the show's name and the name of the cop?

  • Recipes for Good Tasting Salted Pork and Hard Tack?

I have a Civil War project coming up and I wanted to make traditional food eaten during the battles. That being said, I want them to taste decent. Of course I would want to stay away from the yeast for the hard tack and keep the pork fairly salty, but does anyone have advice on how to make these two culinary nightmares into delectable dishes?

  • How did Existence come about (Atheists and Theists Welcome!)? ?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but it's a question that a think of every now and again before I fall asleep.

I'm not asking who created earth (god) or how it was created (the big bang), I'm just interested in people's opinion regarding the beginning of everything.

Like how does something begin if it has nothing to start it? I've hear theories with different dimensions but how did those dimensions get made. And how did the maker of dimensions get made? Maybe I'm thinking simplistically, but I don't know much about science or philosophy. Or I maybe I have to accept that we can never truly know and realize that eternity has always existed, no matter what.

I'm baffled, what do you guys think?

  • Rolling Admission for Ithaca College?

I had my Application, Supplement, Payment, Recommendations, and Transcript in on November 10. Considering the qualifications that they list on their site and the caliber of kids who have already gotten in, I think I'm a shoe-in to be accepted. I have a 3.9 GPA and a 2000 SAT, I've done volunteer for years at a Children's Hospital, and am the president of the Usher's Club. I was also recruited by the tennis coach to play tennis.

It seems to me that I should be accepted, but I'm just wondering why it's taking so long for them to get back to with a decision. Wouldn't easier decisions hear back quicker? How long do rolling admission schools take to get back to students in general?

  • Rock Song Help! Please, I'll give 10 points to First Correct Answer?

Okay, this may sound very stupid, but I don't care; I want to hear this song. It's a rock song and I assume it's from like the 60s-70s (big time frame, I know) and the chorus reads something like this, "YOU, you'll be all alright, yeah yeah YOU, you'll be all alright." Probably way off on the lyrics but I never knew the name of this song. Please help though.

  • In the NFL: Why is Intentional Grounding Prohibited but Taking a Knee and Spiking the Football Allowed?

I've never understood this before. All three of these things seem to go against competition and cop out the offensive team. Yet only one of them is against the rules.

Why can't they just prohibit all of these things? It would make much more exciting games. I don't want to see players taking a knee or spiking the ball. I want the other team to have a chance to make a comeback.

And by the way, how is intentional grounding any different than spiking?

  • Cliche and Cheesy War Movies?

Can anyone think of a cliche and cheesy war movie that you either know of or have seen? I'm writing a review for Gears of War 2 and want to briefly compare it to a cheesy war movie. Problem is, I would never watch one of those, and can't think of one right now. Thanks a lot.

  • Are there any Risks to Downloading Free Programs Download.com?

Right now I use Norton Internet Security and Webroot AntiVirus with AntiSpyware. Both are fairly large, Norton is 54.10 MB and Webroot is 36.39 MB. Even worse, my computer is deathly slow. I just purchased more RAM, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I also hear a lot of people saying that I should use AntiVirus and AntiSpyware for Download.com, but for some reason, I've always felt more comfortable using programs that cost money. You'd think a program that costs money would be more effective and better put together than a free program, right?

The programs that have been recommended are Ad-Aware 2008 (18.27 MB) and AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 8.0.173 (48.34 MB). There's no way I can just replace my current programs, because I payed good money for them, and my mom would never let me just get rid of them.

But would it be a good idea to download both of these programs mentioned? Will it make my computer faster, or slower?

  • Multiplication and Division of a Radical and a Non Radical Containing Variables?

Okay, so I'm instructed to find the domain of (f * g) and (f/g) when :

f(x) = sqrt(x) and g(x) = 4x^2. So I know I have to multiply sqrt(x) and 4x^2 for (f * g) and divide them for (f/g). But I realized that I never learned how I would multiply and divide such numbers. If anyone can give me the method to do so, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

  • Virtual Memory: Paging File Size Question?

Okay, so my computer has been slow for a while now, maybe a year. I was recommended to purchase more RAM to fix the problem, so I just installed it earlier this morning.

But when I looked at the virtual memory options, the paging file size was at an initial size of 768 MB, with a maximum size of 1536 MB. These numbers are exactly the same as they were before I installed more RAM, so I'm thinking that I need to change these numbers to make my computer faster.

On the bottom of the paging file size window, it says the recommended size is 2299 MB. So finally, my question is whether I should leave the numbers as they were before I installed more RAM, or should I change the size to the recommended value?

  • SAT II Math I Help?

Did anyone else take the Math I for the SAT II? I thought I was going to do really well on it but I only got a 610. I know it's not bad, but I got a 730 on the SAT Math Section, and I was so prepared for the test and breezed through it. Could there have been a mistake? Should I ask to get my test mailed to me?, cause I was pretty positive that I only got like 3 wrong on the test, and left about 3 blank. Looking at the general conversion chart of this exam on Sparknotes, it shows that a 610 is a raw score of 34/50. Since I only left 3 blank, that would mean I only got 37 questions right. That can't be possible. What should I do?
