  • I am considering adding a supercharger to my 1995 BMW M-3. What kind of performance enhancements can I expect?

The car has a 3.0 liter straight 6 bored out engine, high performance exhaust,an M-5 performance chip, and a cold air intake. It dynos at about 275hp as is. What performance changes could I expect by adding a supercharger?

Yes, I know, it's plenty fast right now but....lol. I'm just "one of those guys" if you know what I mean.

    :)

    Thanks,

The car is great; I added a cold air intake and an M-5 performance chip. It has a bored out straight 6 engine and high performance exhaust. With its matte black paint job and custom wheels it also looks great. As is the car dynos at about 275hp. I am thinking of adding a supercharger and would like to know just kind of performance enhance to expect.

  • Is a .22 magnum 8 round revolver loaded with +p hollow point ammo a useful home defense gun?

My wife is very small and has a very hard time handling the "kick" from handguns of larger caliber. I have a small collection of handguns as a .357mag, .38spl,and a Glock 26. The .357mag flies from her hand as does the .38spl. She is unable to pull back the slide on the Glock to put a cartridge into the chamber.

So,I bought her a .22mag. 8 shot. She has no trouble with this gun and through practice has become quite a good shot. The .22mag with hp ammo puts a nasty hole into a plastic water filled milk carton and exits with a large hole. The one thing I dislike about this gun is the price of the ammo and it's LOUD. But, how would it do against an intruder should I not be home and my wife uses it to defend herself?

I've been treated for my ADD and my old doctor never asked for that.

Now, my new doctor wants me to sign a form allowing him to obtain my protected health information.

    Why is that?

  • Would applying a matte finish & then a matte paint sealant make a car with a glossy paint job appear matte?

I have a 1995 BMW M-3 that I've done considerable work upon to increase its performance. I've added such things as a cold air intake system, custom headers,6 speed trans, super charger, custom suspension/struts etc. The car now has 417hp and weighs not much more than 3,000lbs so it is quite quick..lol..a "hotrod" I suppose it could be called.

The car is street legal and I do compete in amateur races. The car has a glossy black paint job and while I am able to do the mechanical work I dare not do a "do-it-yourself" paint job. I really like the look of a matte paint job and would like some advice from anyone who has knowledge in the area of car finishes and painting. Say, I hand applied, with a pad, a matte finishing product and/or a matte sealant that is available from a number of companies {Dr. Beasley's Car Care Products for example} would it give the car a "matte" look?

If not, any suggestions as to how I could achieve the matte look I like without paying thousands of dollars for a new paint job or a wrap?

    Thanks for any advice.

  • How would Obama's carbon tax clean the atmosphere as the U.S. ships 1000's of tons of coal to China?

Obama has declared a literal "war on coal," stating that coal sends large amounts of carbon into the atmosphere. Most Americans depend upon coal burning power plants for their electricity. A "carbon tax" would cause electric prices to, using his words, "sky-rocket." Obama leads many Americans to believe coal burning should be curtailed in America in order to slow down "global warming." Yet, under his term of office 1000's of tons of American coal is exported to China; helping China's economy to grow. Does it matter if coal emissions come from the U.S. or China? Does it matter at all where the coal is burned? Please explain why Americans may have to pay dearly for electricity while the Chinese use our coal to provide them with low cost power. Maybe it's because I am a simple man. But for the life of me I just can't "grasp" why it matters as to where the carbon emissions come from.{the U.S. or China} Does China have a "different atmosphere? Will Obama make the Chinese pay a "carbon tax?"

  • Could anyone objectively answer some troubling questions I have regarding the Trayvon Martin murder case?

Firstly, please don't WASTE your time answering me if you think,in any manner, I am a racist. I'm a war veteran who served side by side with brave men and women of all races.

There are many questions I have but these three puzzle me:

    1. Why is it that the public is constantly shown Trayvon to be a cute cuddly 12 year old boy when in fact he was a 17 1/2 year old 170 pound 6 foot two well muscled male? Point in case here:Mike Tyson, at the age of 18 years old was, perhaps the most fierce world heavyweight champion there ever was?

    2. If indeed, the 14 shrill screams of pain, that lasted for nearly one full minute, came from Trayvon; what exactly was George Zimmermon doing to him to cause those screams? Keep in mind; the only wound Trayvon had was one bullet through his heart and left lung. Just how could anyone with a hole in his heart and lung loudly scream 14 times?

    3. If George Zimmermon had the intent to kill Trayvon; just why would he have called the police? Is Zimmermon retarded? Did Zimmermon WANT the police to watch him shoot Trayvon?

    Thank you,

    Happy 4th of July!

  • Anyone know the best product/method of maintaining a car with a flat black paint job?

I know that many do not like a car painted flat black.

Please put aside your bias for a moment.

First off, I would agree that it takes a "certain" type car to get "away" with being colored flat black. My car is a 1995 BMW M-3 and I've done lots of modifications such as: installing an afe magnum force cold air intake, custom headers,a 6 speed trans, adding an M-5 performance chip, vacuum exhaust, heavy duty clutch, bored out engine, custom wheels/tires, etc. and the car moves out like hell [0-70 in around 5 seconds]. I frequently take it out upon the track and do some racing. A perfect car to really look great with a flat black paint job. So, it's now painted "hot rod black." However, flat black is very hard to maintain [water spots, fingerprints etc.] Anyone know of a product that makes it easier to keep a car painted flat black looking its best?

Thanks a lot for your help.

  • What's the best way to protect a car painted "flat" black without adding any sheen to it?

I recently purchased a Euro model 1995 BMW M-3 and decided to do some modifications to it. I installed a cold air intake, put in a 6 speed transmission, put in an M-5 computer chip, custom headers bored out the cylinders...to name but a few. The car moves out like holy hell! The colour [red] just didn't "match" the car's performance though. So, I painted it with a colour named "hot rod black." Hot rod black is essentially "flat" black. The car's colour looks exactly like the colour of a stealth bomber. My question: Now, I don't wish to add any "sheen" to the car's colour but I do want to preserve the paint job. Any know the best way for me to do that without ruining the "stealth bomber" appearance?

    Thanks for any helpful answers.

  • What makes you think a law prohibiting or limiting Americans from owning guns would curb gun violence?

    It wouldn't.

There has NEVER been nor is there a single law that prevents a criminal act.

Rape is against the law.-- Yet, thousands of women are raped yearly. Would revoking the law making rape unlawful increase rapes?

    No, of course not.

Murder is against the law.-- Yet, thousands are murdered each year.

Would revoking the law making murder unlawful increase murders?

    Again, hardly..

Illegally entering the U.S. is against the law.-- Yet, millions have already done so.

Would revoking the law making it against the law to enter the U.S. a crime increase illegal immigrant entrances?

    I doubt that.

Child abuse is against the law.-- Yet thousands of children are abused yearly. Would revoking the law making child abuse unlawful cause an increase in child abuse?

    Don't be silly.

Domestic violence is against the law.-- Yet,thousands of cases of domestic violence occur in the U.S. yearly.

Would revoking the law making domestic violence unlawful cause an increase in domestic violence.

    No, it would not

I could go on and on.

Normal law abiding people do NOT commit rapes, murders, child abuse acts, incidents of domestic violence, etc. because they are considered against the law. They don't commit these acts because they have respect for the law and have a "conscience". They don't need a LAW telling them these acts are wrong.

Abnormal people commit these acts because their minds are not normal and they have no respect for the law.. They commit these acts DESPITE them being against the law.

Again, no law has EVER prevented a crime.

Make gun ownership in any way against the law.-- Those who want guns of any sort will get them. As of right now, there are 300+ million guns in America. Would this LAW reduce gun crimes?

No, it would only make innocent law abiding Americans who have respect for law vulnerable to those who would obtain guns despite them being against the law.

    Also..

In 1994 Bill Clinton made it against the law to have assault weapons.-- During its 10 year span it proved absolutely 100% useless.

Laws do NOT prevent crime. All laws do is provide punishment.

If punishment truly deterred criminal acts; there would be no crime.

But, it is quite clear that punishment is not very effective in stopping crime.

Criminals will not obey laws despite the possibility of being punished.

That's just how human nature is.

    Laws...never prevented any crimes.

They never have; they never will.

  • When anyone actually looks at Obama's record,it would seem ANYONE would be able to defeat him for POTUS.?

Obama's domestic"record" over his first 4 years is clearly horrible! The middle class has suffered so very badly and will suffer even more in his second term.

Obama's record in foreign affairs, sovereignty matters, cultural issues, and corruption is even worse than his domestic record. America no longer has the global respect it once had.

How can it be that he got re elected.?- with:

23 million unemployed, 43 straight months of 8+% unemployment (and, this number does not even factor in real or virtual unemployment or take into account those who have given up looking for work altogether), 45 million on food stamps, black poverty at record highs, young blacks unemployment over 50%!! Yes! 1/2 of young black people are not working.

Hispanic unemployment at 11.3%, food prices up 15% under Obama, gas prices doubled under Obama, Obama has the worst job creation record since 1945, the Obama "recovery" is the worst in 75 years, median household income declined under Obama, the middle class has lost OVER 40% of its net worth under Obama, average family health insurance up $1,500 under Obama, addition of $6 trillion to our debt...more than all Presidents combined. He also has spent and borrowed, in only 4 years, more than ALL the presidents before him. And, Obama presided over the ONLY US credit downgrade...??

    So...

Why didn't the American electorate give Romney a chance? He couldn't have been worse...hardly.

Was it that the American electorate was "blind" to Obama's record?

It would be IMPOSSIBLE anyone could match Obama's first 4 years!

    ANYONE should have defeated Obama---

    But?

    No..He won..??

And, sadly, the Obama policies are going to hurt the very people who put him into office for a 2nd term--- the- "working" -middle class!

  • Why does the issue of ancient & abolished American slavery continue to be a talking point among U.S. Blacks?

Blacks compromise around one out of every 8.5 Americans. Their numbers & unity in their vote [ 98% of all Blacks voted Obama regardless of their disproportionate unemployment rate at about 15% ] This makes them a serious & powerful "voting block." ie. Politically they represent a formible group to sway should anyone wish political office.

It is ironic: If not for the slave trade most Blacks living in the U.S. today would not be in the U.S. but in countries as Nigeria, the Congo & other such Western African countries in which the people are suffering from extreme poverty and high political corruption.

Many many U.S. Blacks have attained great wealth...fame..fortune in:

Athletics [ Tiger Woods,Mike Jordan,Mike Tyson, among many others.]

Entertainment [ Pit Bull, Richard Pryor, Mike Jackson, Sidney Poitier, again among many others.]

Politics [ Colin Powell, Condi Rice, Allen West, again among many others.]

Businesses [ Herman Cain comes to mind ]

If the slave trade had never existed the majority of these prominent, high powered famous Blacks would never had been.

No, they [ or their genetic pool would most definitely have been still in Africa; in countries in which a person has very little chance of bettering one self- there is no affirmative action in these places-] People living in countries as Nigerian have scarce chance of becoming a "Snoop Dogg...a Muhammad Ali in boxing having safety nets as welfare & food stamps.

No. life is very hard for people living in these regions.

Yes, America is a nation of immigrants. Some, as those arriving via the slave trade were forced here. But be aware that others [ as my family were also forced to escape into America due to Hitler's declaration that we were "not human" and need to be eliminated.]

As with today's American Blacks, my family didn't "choose" to flee their country. They were forced out to save their lives.

My grandparents suffered, as did Africans, a long sea voyage in the belly of a ship with not much more than the clothes they wore. And, unlike Africans of whom were destined to become slaves and had a "place" in society [true a very lowly place] they entered a strange land, forced into taking the most menial and dangerous of jobs as cleaning toilets..working in hazardous coal mines..working 12+ hours a day just to meet the bare essentials to survive. They were in many ways worse off than the Africans brought to America to become slaves. The slaves, at the least, knew where their next meal would come from....were assured a "roof over their heads."

Yet, I here little clamour from Jews and Gypsies as to how we arrived upon American soil.

It's mostly the opposite. We are glad to be here now and don't have complaints as to how we got here.

I feel all Americans should just be glad they're in the U.S. regardless of how they "got here.'

  • If Obama loses the 2012 election how will the liberals react?

Should Obama be defeated on Tuesday I bet the "blame game" will begin by the Libs. Racism will be trotted out first, followed by Sandy, followed by it was "Bush's fault" ;-].

I look forward to the possible true vetting of "Mr." Obama should he loose ( oh yes...I believe he may loose)...It will be very very "interesting" to find out what his College grades were....the truth about where he was really born, the Tony Rezko deal, the Rev.Wright connection, and the many other questions that should have been probed before he was elected in '08. I would bet that many, many books will (oneday) be written exploring how a person with such a thin resume with no accomplishments...a person who had no experience running ANYTHING, could have possibly been elected as our President. The Community Organizer and his Chicago buddies have really left us with a mess. Should he loose; just how will the liberals react?

  • How much does it concern you that Obama signed 953 executive orders to "get his way?"?

Obama has the record of signing the most executive orders to get his way than ANY other president .He signed an amazing 953 executive orders. That's the MOST f any other president in history; in fact it dwarfs all the past presidents combined by a long long shot..! All the past presidents combined have signed but only 9. Some of Obama's orders literally "circumvented" the law."

Makes one think...."Why even have a Congress,"when Obama will pretty much do as he wishes. Take Obamacare, the latest Gallup polls show it is favored by only 36% of Americans yet ALL will have to pay a "fine" if they don't comply to Obama"s executive order commanding them to "Obey Him" or PAY.

  • Anyone know the reputation of a life insurance company known as Colonial Penn?

My mom received a call from an agent representing Colonial Penn. He then later arranged for a face to face meeting at her home. He offered her various insurance options and gathered from her some very personal information, ie. SS#. This seemed suspicious to me and contacted my lawyer. He displayed concern. I was able to make contact via telephone of this agent. I asked him many questions as:

    His name.

    His address.

His license #...of which he told me was a temporary one having no verification # nor photo.

I asked him where he was fingerprinted. He old me in Irvington , New Jersey. I asked at what police precinct. He told me a private company took the fingerprints.

I asked who do high standing I could call to verify his legitimacy. He replied .The New Jersey Dept. of Banking and Insurance.

I told him it was highly irregular for notable insurance firms to go door to door. His reply was that they are likely the only one doing so.

Does all this seem "up and up?"

    thank you
