  • What Should I Expect at Infantry OSUT at Fort Benning?

I was finally able to go to MEPs and pick the MOS i initially wanted since due to a messed up situation i couldn't keep the MOS I enlisted as (88M). I now leave in April 2013 to Fort Benning for 11X- Infantry. Im really excited since this is the MOS i wanted but wasn't available at the time I enlisted, and Im looking forward to the challenge and I was wondering:

What's Reception like at Fort Benning? How long will I be here or should I expect to be here?

How is Infantry OSUT at Fort Benning? Is it tougher or just as tough as regular BCT? What's the difference between this Training and regular Basic Training?

What's PT like there? How tough is it? What type of exercises in PT will I be doing or expect to do?

What are the Drill Sergeants like for us? Will they do the Shark Attack?

What's the weather like in April there at Fort Benning? What can i expect?

Do they have ticks or Chiggers?

I know my Soldier's Creed, Army Values, Phonetic Alphabets, General Orders, Rank Structure, Military Time, and Warrior Ethos. What else do I need to know or should know once I arrive here?

What's the experience like there at Fort Benning? What should I expect?

Whats the Bunks/Barracks like for us there?

Any tips or advice on getting thru OSUT for Infantry?

  • Can Someone Answer My Army Renew Question I Posted On Here?

I posted this question last time and got no helpful answer from someone named Marine5 -___- but all i was asking is How long would I have to wait to hear from USAREC to start picking my new MOS???

Situation: i can't keep my current MOS (88M-Motor Transport Operator) due to the fact my driver's license expires before AIT (88M requires my license to be valid all the way thru AIT, and can't expire prior to AIT Graduation) and ima be in Basic Training before i reach 21 and therefore cant renew it before i ship (My local DMV wont let me renew it until im 21).. My recruiter said me picking a new MOS for this situation is a process called "Renew"

Its been a week already. How long would it typically be before me or my recruiter hear from USAREC on when i can pick my new MOS???

How does the whole Renew process work??? Can any recruiters shed some light on this or any recruit who been thru this before tell me how this process works???

This is to Marine5: Before you start running off at the mouth, learn to read. I CLEARLY SAID I CANT KEEP THE MOS BECAUSE MY LICENSE EXPIRES BEFORE GRADUATION AND ONLY REASON WHY I CANT RENEW IT IS BECAUSE IM NOT 21 YET AND WONT BE TIL AFTER I WOULD'VE SHIPPED!!! IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH A "OPEN LEGAL PROBLEM" OR ANY CONVICTIONS!!! MY RECORD IS CLEAN I HAVE NO LEGAL PROBLEMS!!! THAT DOESN'T APPLY TO ME!!!

AND AS FAR AS ME CALLING MYSELF A PVT, I AM A PVT, A PV2 ACTUALLY, AND I AM ENLISTED AND THEREFORE AN OFFICIAL U.S. SOLDIER. THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK, MARINES DON'T KNOW IT ALL, ESPECIALLY YOU OLD RETIRED ONES. YOUR ANSWER DIDN'T HELP NOR HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE QUESTION AND YOU OBVIOUSLY DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT. LEARN TO BE A HELP NOT A NUISANCE!!! NOBODY LIKES A JACK ***!!! PLEASE DON'T ANSWER NO MORE OF MY QUESTIONS

  • Will My Teeth Prevent Me Front Shipping?

My front tooth is chipped and one of my other tooth is broke to where you can see the feel in. Will this prevent me from shipping to Basic Training? Or is this nothing to worry about?

  • Questions about the "Renew" Process?

Ok Im already enlisted, i been to MEPs, took the physical and passed and qualified and everything. I been thru the whole process and everything. Sworn in and been in DEP since August 2012 so lets get that answered and out the way now. Now here's the issue:

So since my Driver License expires before I graduate AIT, they not letting me keep 88M as my MOS since it requires a valid License thru AIT and cant expire before AIT Graduation. So now i have to pick a new MOS, which means I now ship at a later date instead of on the date i was originally suppose to ship off. My Recruiter is taking this up with USAREC and we just waiting for the word of "when and where" and what we going to do.

I was wondering does anybody knows how long it typically takes to get word from USAREC?

How does the whole process of picking a new MOS works, especially in a situation like this? Anyone who's been in this situation or any Recruiters who've dealt with this situation before?

I scored a 43 on the ASVAB. My Line Scores are:

    GT-94

    CL-97

    CO-95

    EL-96

    FA-94

    GM-94

    MM-94

    OF-93

    SC-98

    ST-95

Can you list what other MOS's i qualify for?

Im a good Future Soldier who nevers miss FS Training and always bust my *** training. I know my Soldier's Creed, Army Values, Warrior Ethos, Ranks and Pay Grades, Military Time, Phonetic Alphabets, General Orders, Face Movements and March, and even the Oath of Enlistment. Im currently an E-2, passed all my online training, got a referral enlisted, and close to passing my PT Test (81 Push Ups, 75 Sit Ups, 17:30 timed 2 Mile Run). As you can see im a very dedicated soldier and really want to serve.

I would really appreciate it if i can get answers from a recruiter or anyone with experience in this issue. Thank you.

PS: Im from Chicago, IL. I went to my local DMV here in Chicago, and they told me i couldn't renew my License until i turn 21. And by the time i turn 21, i would already had been in BCT because i ship a month before my 21st birthday. So i already tried

  • Trying To Go Infantry?

On my ASVAB for Army Active Duty, my CO score is a 95. Is that too low for 11B-Infantry?

  • Wants To Go 11B Infantry?

I had to repost this question because I forgot some details that might help with answering my question but again here's the situation:

Since my Driver's License expires before i graduate AIT for 88M, they not letting me keep that MOS and my ship date changes and i have to pick a new MOS, which sucks because I was looking forward to ship and I been in the DEP program since August 2012 and was suppose to ship this month and now I have to wait :'(. I told my Recruiter that if 11B Infantry comes up that's what I want and I was wondering:

I scored a 43 on the ASVAB. My ASVAB Composite Scores are:

    GT- 94

    CL- 97

    CO- 95

    EL- 96

    FA- 94

    GM- 94

    MM- 94

    OF- 93

    SC- 98

    ST- 95

I scored a 43 on the ASVAB. Is that high enough to be in 11B- Infantry or 11C- Indirect Fire Infantry (Mortar)?

*BTW im Army -Active Duty. In case you wondering what Branch of Service.

  • Army Promotion Questions?

I understand you can only be a certain rank for a certain amount years, but I have some questions:

    1. What's the maximum number of years for each Enlisted Ranks (Enlisted Soldiers and Non-Comissioned Officers only) you can be before they discharge you for not moving up to the next rank?

    2. What all can I do to earn points for promotion to move up a rank?

    3. If i was a PFC that just got promoted to Specialist or Corporal, and now I have 8 years to reach the next rank, does the years as a PFC add up to the 8 years i have to move up to the next rank?? Or since im at a new rank, the years i had as a prior rank doesn't count?

And how do I create one in BCT?

  • Ears Affecting Ship Day for Army BCT?

When I report to MEPs to ship off for my ship date, and they decide to examine my ears or give me a hearing exam, and they find alot of ear wax in my ears..

Will they delay my ship date and/or take me to get my ears cleaned out??

Or will they disqualify me and make go thru the whole process of trying to enlist again??

Wen I first went to MEPs I passed the Hearing Exam, but they had to take me to go get my ears cleaned out and bring me back to get em re examined. They did all this in the same day I first came to MEPs for my physical so I didnt get sent home or anything, one of the staff members at MEPs took me and brung me back. And I was just wondering if they will do it like this again if the same situation was to occur??

  • Renewing Driver's License While In Army Training?

Last time i posted this concern up but accidentally I deleted before I looked at answers posted so Im reposting it..

Long story short here's the situation:

I'll be leaving for US Army Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri in January 2013. I will also be doing AIT for 88M-Motor Transport Operator (Truck Driver) at Fort Leonard Wood as well. I need to have a valid Driver's License prior to completing AIT, it cant expire before I graduate AIT. The problem is I turn 21 a month after I ship (My birthday is in February) and will not graduate from BCT until around April 2013 and AIT may start in that same month. My local DMV won't allow me to renew it until my 21st Birthday and I need a VALID LICENSE THAT DOESN'T EXPIRES PRIOR to graduating AIT, I can't have an expired license before graduating or during AIT..

How will I go about renewing my Drivers License?

Any ideas or does anyone have experience with this type of situation? Any suggestions?

By the way, Im from Illinois.

    Thanks.

  • Driver's License Expiring Before AIT Graduation?

I enlisted in the Army as Active Duty and my MOS is 88M-Motor Transport Operator (Truck Driver) and will be doing both Basic Training and AIT for 88M at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, and I ship off this month.. Here is the scenario: I am from Chicago, IL and I am 20 years of age.. My Driver's License expires before I graduate AIT.. The DMV Office and Secretary Office won't allow me to renew my license before my 21st Birthday, even after I explained to them.. My 21st Birthday is in February, but I ship off for Active Duty this January (couple more weeks actually)..

Anyone who is in the Army or is an 88M or has been in this situation or knows someone who was in this situation or knows what to do in this situation, please help.. i have questions and need suggestions:

    1. Can i still ship to Basic or will this prevent me from shipping off?

    2. Will the DS and Commander allow me to take an emergency leave from Basic Training to get my Driver's License renew?

    3. How long do we usually have after graduation to ourselves before we start AIT?

    4. Can i take an emergency leave during AIT to go renew my license?

    5. Can i get another Driver's License in the state im doing Training?

    6. Will they stop me from graduating AIT until I obtain a new license?

    7. Any suggestions or other helpful options you all can offer me?
