  • substitute teaching problem-left last job under bad circumstances?

I am trying to get a job as a sub. I know that my district is hiring. My problem is that I left my last job suddenly. I was having some emotional problems and left after five years without giving notice. That was a few years ago. I was thinking about just leaving the job off the application.

But a friend of mine tells me that will not work because it would be revealed in a background check. I think they would just check with the jobs I list on the application. Any ideas?

  • hearing voices?

I hear voices sometimes. I know they are not real. My therapist gave me some excercises to do where my "parent" is supposed to interview my "inner child" and ask them questions about their favorite music, favorite food and so on. Then I am supposed to nurture the child. I want to do it and I started it but it seems like it is making the voices worse. Now I hear them arguing and debating one another, which was not the case before- just obscenities. What should I do?

  • good places to stay- the Dead Sea in Israel?

We would prefer to stay in a family owned bed and breakfast or kibbutz type place on the Dead Sea- doesn't have to be luxurious. Any suggestions? This will be our first trip. We also hope to visit Jerusalem but prefer to stay around the Dead Sea.

  • names for miracle kitten?

This story starts out sad and may make you mad but keep reading because it ends happily.

My husband saw a kitten thrown out of a car going about 80 mph. He got out of his car and tried to rescue the kitten. It was crouching in a snow bank- the temperature was about zero. The kitten ran under his car and crawled up into the underbelly. She refused to budge. My husband finally felt he had no choice but to drive home. Once there, the kitten ran into his garage where after a few days she was caught in a have- a -heart trap and brought to my house - where she is welcome and will receive veterinary care. It's only been a couple days. Except for some damage to the pads of her paws she is thriving.

What can I name her that will highlight her strong will to survive? She is so tiny but a real fighter for life.

  • tuning a guitar?

I am teaching myself to play guitar- my problem is I am having a devil of a time tuning it. I bought a chromatic tuner with a needle and lights that flash yellow when flat, red when sharp, and green when in tune. I tuned each string until the green lit up and the needle was right in the middle. Then I tried to play and it sounded worse than when I started- unplayable.

I read some of the archived answers on this subject and I think I may know what happened. When I tuned each string it was supposed to show the note in the upper left hand corner but it was showing the wrong note each time. So I tuned to the note that was on the upper left hand corner of the lcd - not the note that I wanted. How would I fix this problem?

  • use of electric collar to teach dogs not to chase cats?

What is your opinion about this- trainers out there? I adopted a shephard-(i think) border collie mix neutered male from a shelter. He wants to hurt (not herd) my 9 cats. I cannot bring myself to take him back to the shelter- -have had no luck finding an acceptable home- so must figure out how we can all live safely and happily.

I have had a separate run built off my garage- "Jake" can get in and out of the garage and has a large chunk of yard. I get him out for a walk every day with his pals- a sheltie and 2 border collies. I bring him in the house but he has to stay in the crate. I have tried squirting him with a spray of water when he reacts loudly to the cats.

I know I will probably get some strong reactions to the idea of an electric collar but the thing that appeals to me about it is that I have been told I would only have to use it a few times and the problem would be resolved. The squirting, isolating etc. could go on forever.

  • I am divorcing and having a really hard time with it although I am the one who initiated it.?

I keep phoning my husband and am having problems letting go. Part of the problem is I don't know anybody else. I live in a real one horse town in Northern Nv/ and work nights.

My husband had a lot of serious issues- no job, mom fixation etc. but I did love him once and wish things had turned out differently. We married late in life- no kids, and live about an hour away from each other. I am 51 - he is 57. any ideas. I am very sad.

  • animal trainers please help?

I adopted a male and female border collie from the shelter earlier today. The female is fine but the male wants to chase my cats. He growls at them. Other than that he is a very nice dog. I would like everybody to live harmoniously. What can I do?

  • Should I divorce my husband?

We are in our 50s with no kids. We haven't had sex in years. The last time we had sex it was physically painful for me and I pushed him away- this deeply offended him.

He has no job and lives with his parents. They are in their 80s and run a bed and breakfast inn. He helps them but has no income. I am a registered nurse. Six months ago I bought a house in my own name and moved out. I did this with the understanding that if he moved out of his folks house, moved in with me, and got a job I would put his name on the deed. That is not happening.

He lives about an hour away. Lately he keeps saying he is coming over but then he never shows up and never calls.

I took him to Europe twice and the last time we went I wound up with close to 10 grand on my credit card. He said he'd get a job and help me pay it but never did. I'll have it all paid off this month.

I have filed for divorce but don't have the paperwork yet. Still have feelings for him. What should I do?

  • I am thinking of buying a portable hot tub. How long do you keep the water in it? How do you drain it?

Does anybody out there own one? Could my dog wreak havoc by chewing on it? How expensive are they to operate? Would I be better of with a permanent one?
