  • Are humans superior to animals?

I know that animals and insects can feel pain, have culture and are capable of communicating with one another without language. Some animals are stronger, faster, smarter (to an extent),and are able to breathe underwater longer than humans. I'm not saying animals are inferior or that they don't have advantages over humans, but at the same time isn't our strength to manipulate and separate our own existence from nature the reason for our "so called superiority" and survival as species?

What animal has done that to the extent of humans?

If we wanted to we could nuke the whole planet and destroy everything, except cockroaches and possibly bacteria (although that's highly irrational and wrong). Also, we are far more responsible for maintaining the balance of the environment than other animals and in that we control their fate as well as our own.

I was interested in hearing different opinions...

  • Where did the word God come from?

I understand that Judaism, Christianity, Islam and other religions have god(s) or goddesses but I just wanted to know where the idea of the name God or the word God come from? It just seems ironic we can give an omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient thing a name or charactersitics.

  • Isn't spreading the message of your religion destroying it?

I hear Christians want to spread the word of God and Jesus Christ around the world, but isn't that only diluting your main message. Whenever you have many different viewpoints on one source, there will be varying details and divisions within that religion. So how is spreading the word a good thing if your religion or all religions have been in fact broken down and transformed?

  • Isn't it unrealistic to be Christ-like?

To be Christ-like is something that is impossible, especially since we are born into sin.

I think everyone mistakes and that some people have a different moral compass than others. Some people own up to their mistakes and learn from, while some keep doing the same thing until they learn. I feel like labeling something as a sin gives it a negative connotation and makes it seem like your Christ-like when you aren't. You can try to be the best person you can be, but ultimately we have are faults. We shouldn't blame are faults on the Devil nor should we say the Holy Spirit within us needs to prevail, because ultimately we do things based on if it feels right or wrong according to our standards.

  • How is the bible the word of God if....?

If humans have many different interpretations on the whole thing? It was actually accepted that people were killed for blasphemy, adultery, homosexuality and allegedly being witches? How is something that word of God when it has inspired violence and allowed people to become the opposite of what is taught?

I know some people will say God gave us free will or that they weren't following the Bible correctly but when someone sees a verse "They shall be put to death" what do you think will come out of that? If anything people took things too literally, if those sort of things have been outlawed today and uncommon.

  • If all sins are equal, why is blasphemy the eternal sin?

It was common a few centuries ago for people to be put to death for blasphemy because of this.

  • Isn't it a problem for Christianity when more people belong to your religion?

I'm not saying having 2.2 billion followers of your religion is bad, but hasn't that brought in different viewpoints and corrupted the message of the Bible? Think about it, all of the translations, languages, denominations, slightly different intrepretations of the Bible has made it less of a possibility to have a core set of beliefs?

There are some Christian denominations that doesn't believe in the Trinity for example. I'm saying this because Judaism which has a pretty close relationship to Christianity has 14 million followers worldwide and for the most part it has less denominations and strong core of beliefs. It's also pretty difficult to convert to Orthodox Judaism as well. I just see this as a problem when things get too big to sustain themselves, like the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Soviet Union.

I was just interested in this, because humans can't even figure it out.

  • Why do we use Jesus to talk to God?

I know Jesus was the son of God and that the God in heaven was the father, but aren't they the same God except Jesus was human part? Why do we call for Jesus if they are the same in essence?

  • How did different races come to existence from Adam and Eve?

I understand they had children and they migrated to other areas, but how does that explain the different languages, cultures, religions, and qualities of those races from one lineage of the human race? How did we get different color eyes, hair, head shape, nose size, ears, etc?

Doesn't evolution explain all of this some point?

  • Isn't it more modest or humble to say that we don't know all the answers?

I understand religion in general provides the answers to people. However, isn't subscribing to one belief and believing it to be the correct one a combination of pride, faith and arrogance at the same time?

  • Does anyone feel that religious texts provide too many answers?

I understand there are some things in the Bible such a Revelations that doesn't have an exact time for when the world ends, but for the most part doesn't religious texts give humans comfort more so than uncertainty?

For instance the Trinity limits God to 3 forms in 1, but why not more?

    The promise of an afterlife.

  • Why did Jesus pray to God if he's an equal part of God?

When Jesus prayed to God in Heaven, I know he was trying to pass off as a human, but since Jesus is the son of God and is God in human form isn't he just praying to himself or another God?

I'm assuming God can be in infinite places at once, but assuming he's in human form and is God and he's up in heaven, doesn't that show two equal parts of God, hence two Gods?

I understand the Trinity but I personally think Islam sheds some light on how Jesus was used as an image of God when that violates the 10 commandments. Their prophet doesn't even have an image to his name.

  • Why do Christians believe atheists and agnostics have no faith?

I already know that some will say the reason will be because they don't believe in Jesus or that he died for everyone sins or even the fact they don't believe in God. However, isn't faith defined in more than one way. You can have faith that your wife will not cheat on you, you can believe in moral and ethics without religion, and the list can go on. So isn't their faith not a problem, since they have faith their is no God or they don't know if there is a God?

  • Do Animals go to heaven?

I thought it was interesting that God wanted 2 of the same animals/ opposite genders to go on Noah's ark. I know the purpose was to procreate, but is this question in answered in the Bible?

Why were animals needed to go on the ark if humans are considered superior and have souls?

  • If we were created in the image of God why are we flawed?

I am aware that some will because of Adam and Eve, but I don't get why God would get upset or angry if he is all seeing and all powerful. He would have forseen Eve taking an apple from the tree. By saying we were created in his image, your opening up the intrepreation that he is capable of flaws he didn't forsee and that people may be somewhat god like.

  • When people say they speak to God is it through the voice in their head?

I honestly thought I was able to talk to God, but the more I thought about the more I realized it was the voice in my mind mimicking him in a way. I don't think I can say that the Devil or God can speak to you in your mind because that means you have no free will to think for yourself. I think that's projection and a cop out especially when you do something like kill someone and say the Devil made me do it.

So how exactly do you talk to God?

  • In Christianity, isn't having and using images of Jesus wrong?

I understand that Jesus is the son of God, a part of God and a prophet. But isn't it wrong in a way to have images of him and use that when praying or in Church?

I looked at some comparisons between religions and Islam's prophet doesn't claim to be the son of God, but just a prophet and his image is never used.

I'm looking at all religions in general, but I just noticed how that was a fair point that when we think of God an image of Jesus comes to mind.
