  • Is there such a thing as too late a bloomer?

In a sense of "being in your mid 30's and never having had your first kiss, much less any experience whatsoever dealing with people of the opposite sex in any capacity beyond superficial conversation."

Is there some point where it is "too late" for someone to try to gain experience by dating? Is there some point where it is just embarrassing for a person to reveal their inexperience and they will simply be laughed out of any attempt at setting up a relationship? Is there some point where a person should not even bother trying?

  • How long can someone stay awake drinking 5 hour energies?

I am writing a fictional story where the main character tires to stop sleeping entirely and stay awake for the rest of their life.

They try to accomplish this through the constant consumption of artificial stimulants like 5 hour energy drinks.

How long could a person realistically stay awake by doing this? What negative side effects would they suffer? What would be the most likely end result?

  • Is it possible to change the color of the flame in a kerosene lamp?

Is there anything that can be added to the kerosene itself, or any modification made to the wick or lamp that would change the color of the flame produced?

For example, if I wanted the flame to come out blue, purple, or green in a kerosene lamp.

  • Are you able to trademark a fictional character that has entered into the public domain?

If a fictional character, or fictional characters, has/have entered into the public domain, would it be possible to apply for and receive a trademark on those public domain characters?

For example, the fictional characters of Romeo and Juliette are unquestionably in the public domain, with Shakespeare being long gone and the work being around long enough for any possible copyright to expire.

If someone were to then file a trademark application today, would they be able to successfully trademark the use of those fictional characters and enforce it to prevent other authors from using them in any other works not produced by the trademark holder?

  • How to dye hair without hair dye?

I am writing a story about a detective in the 1870 s and I am writing a scene where he must disguise himself as an old man. The character has a beard and full head of hair, which he wants to dye white temporarily for that purpose. How would someone in that time period have gone about dying their hair white?

  • World in Conflict keeps crashing?

I purchased a copy of World in Conflict Soviet Assault about a year ago. I just built a new computer and installed it. The game works beautifully up until about 2 minutes into the first mission or the first 10 seconds of the tutorial. Then, the game crashes and kicks me back to my desktop screen. There are no error messages or explanations of any kind given for this, the game just simply stops and ends, as if I never opened it in the first place. I really want to play the game but I have no idea what could be wrong with it. The game was not purchased through steam. I bought it at Target and downloaded it off a CD. Does anybody have any idea why this might be happening or any suggestions to fix it?

  • Would superheroes with the same name violate copyright or trademark?

Say someone wanted to write a comic book with a base-ball themed superhero and the creator wanted to name said hero "Batman" due to the character's baseball background. Would the creator legally be able to do that, or would it violate some trademark or copyright from DC Comics?

  • How much does it cost to get an animal tested for rabies?

Before anybody says anything, I am well aware of the actual process that is required to test for rabies, which is why I would like to first say that I am asking for the sake of curiosity in the face of a hypothetical scenario. I am not actually looking to get any animals tested. That being said, how much does it cost to get an animal tested for rabies? I am just looking for a dollar amount.

  • Static Electricity causing Atrial Defibrillation?

Can getting hit in the chest with static electricity cause Atrial Defibrillation, or an irregular heartbeat? The only reason I ask is because I got shocked with static electricity near my right nipple as I exited the car today, and I heard that electricity can cause it. I know it's very unlikely to have done anything, but I just wanted to ask.

  • How much force is needed to cause atrial fibrillation?

I have heard that atrial fibrillation, otherwise known as arrhythmia of the heart or irregular heartbeat, can be caused by trauma to the chest or back. Is this true? If so, how much force is required to cause it? What is the rough equivalent in a real life example (i.e. a light tap on the back or chest, getting hit with a baseball bat, ect.)? I have also heard that, in order for it to happen, it must be caused at an exact time, less than one one-thousandth of a second, to take effect. Is this true as well?

  • Should someone put "self-educated" on a resume?

Lets take a hypothetical scenario where a person has undergone a completely independent study of a particular topic such as finance or history (as an example) and has read up on the subject thoroughly. In the process, they have accumulated a vast amount of knowledge about the subject and would be considered proficient in it but have not actually gone to school for it or earned any type of degree. They nonetheless know what they are talking about and are able to demonstrate that knowledge on demand.

Would it be advantageous for that person to put down on their resume that they are "self-educated in _________"? Would it be advisable to place that down at all or perhaps with a different wording?

Also, let's say for the sake of argument that applicants for the hypothetical job are preferred if they have this knowledge.

  • If I uninstall my game, will I lose the DLC?

I need to make room on my computer for a new game that I am going to be buying and in order to do that, I wanted to uninstall my copy of Batman Arkham City. The only thing is, when I pre-ordered it, I got the Joker's Carnival Challenge Map as a pre-order bonus. If I uninstall Arkham City from my computer, will I lose the challenge map or will I be able to re-download it later with the game?
