I'm Nathan's mom. Whatever interests I may have had 6 weeks ago, basically went out the door when I had him. I do still try to catch House on occasion.

  • Can I insist that a company give me the advertised price on a rental?

I am looking at a rental property that is listed on craigslist for $700. On the property management company's website they are advertising it for $650. Is there any sort of law I can evoke to force their hand and make them give it to me for $650?

I had heard a story about an advertisement for a car for sale from a friend a few years ago, and there was a misprint in the ad that said it was for a lower price than what it actually should have been. They said that what was advertised was somehow legally what they had to sell the car for, so the buyer in the story got a great deal all due to an accident.

When I called about the place they told me $700, but I have looked at it on both websites and know they are advertising it for different rates. The story made me wonder if there is anything I can do to get it at the lowest price, besides just politely pushing, the issue, which I intend to do with printouts of the ads. Is there any sort of advertising law that would be applicable here? Thanks for the advice!

  • how much is a glass prism of dale earnhardt's car worth?

My aunt got ahold of this glass paperweight thing, it looks like one of those things you set on top of the light and it changes color. Well, it looks like this: http://www.google.com/imgres?q=dale+earnhardt+car+...

Except it is Dale the eldest, deceased guy, not Jr. She wants to sell it and I cannot figure out how much it is worth online, because I can only find the Earhart Jr. ones, and also because I basically know nothing about Nascar.

So does anyone know how much something like this would sell for? Any idea, ballpark, resources, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • do you have to be notified if your employment is terminated?

I have worked for a small locally owned company for about three years. The majority of my employment went without incident, until some internal theft left everyone pointing fingers a few weeks back. I was accused and defended myself. It's really a crappy little job, more to have something solid on my resume while I'm in college than for income. When I was accused of stealing I probably had more money in my bank account than the pitiful drunks that run the place do and had no need or reason to commit petty theft (I didn't mention that of course). Shortly thereafter there was a minor fault on my part, I misread my schedule, mistaking 12:00 for 2:00. I didn't come in for the shift on time do to this misreading. Originally I was called and informed of the issue, and before I was able to get myself dressed and down the stairs I was contacted again and told "not to bother" coming in. That evening I was told the next 30 hours I was scheduled was replaced with another worked since I was deemed untrustworthy. Since then I have not been scheduled any hours, but I have not been contacted and told I was fired. For some reason I believed it was like a law or something that you would have to be informed of your termination. Of course I assume the weasels think they are quite clever and think they are screwing me out of unemployment. I'm really mostly just curious if anyone knows the answer to this question. Are companies legally required to inform employees if they have been terminated from their position?

  • How do i perform a hypothesis test without an x bar?

I need to find the test statistic and p value but all the information I have is:

    sample size (n)

    Sample mean(mu)

    Standard deviation (sigma)

    Null hypothesis(Ho)

I only know how to solve for the p value and test statistic with an x bar, but I don't have this information or know how to find it. I hate to be dumb if it's really obvious, I have seen people do problems like this but I can't figure out where they pulled their x bar from. Thanks!

  • Can you get in legal trouble for being married to multiple people?

I'm just curious about this. I have a family member that got married to a man when she hadn't divorced her first husband that she was long separated from. I know this means that the marriage stands the potential to not be recognized and some benefits may be denied down the road. Since it is technically 'illegal' could she ever be charged with this crime and what sort of punishment could she theoretically face?

  • What does Coraline wear?

Alright, I have decided to be Coraline for Halloween. I have a wig, button eyes, a dragonfly barrette. If I am doing the button eyes, then I guess I am going as the doll, instead of the "real" Coraline, but I had been prepping to wear the clothes of the real Coraline. I have seen several variations in pictures and am not sure what outfit is accurate (so I'm hoping a Coraline fanatic can tell me, since the movies not streamable on netflix and I'm tired of trying to figure it out for myself)

I know the rain coat and boots will be the same, but what exactly does the doll wear?

Does the doll wear the dragonfly as well?

Any other tips for Coraline accuracy?

  • is it "normal" to wear a wig?

I have one and was considering getting a new wig, but for some reason I always feel a tad self conscience when wearing a wig. For me, it's just ease of style and fun with variety.

Would you think it's strange to see a 25 year old woman wearing a wig?

Would it be odd to wear more than one on a regular basis, quite obviously changing style?

  • Writing Male first person POV sex scene-help!?

I'm trying to stay away from anatomical terms too much to keep it from sounding too mechanical. I don't want it to be super hardcore either. The characters are fairly young and inexperienced. I can handle female POV just dandy, but I'm a little unsure of my self on the male side. Any hints as to what he would refer to his penis as, or some ways to describe sexual sensations from the mind of a dude? Thanks

  • How to format dialogue in a novel/short story?

I should know this certainly, but I am unsure of myself. Can I get some tips on how to format dialogue in the story I am writing? It's first person past tense. My brain doesn't want to start a new line with each line of dialogue even though the little voice in my head says that is the correct way to go. For example, I keep doing stuff like this:

“Julie,” he shot back, “How's summer school?” She glared at the reminder of her self imposed torment. Her less than desirable grades had sentenced her to a stint of extra classes for the season. “It's just great Paul, today the teacher was sick so they let the janitor be the substitute.” Paul smirked, “Maybe you'll finally learn something.”

See? I guess I felt like if I established the speaker in between then I don't need to start a new paragraph with each quote. Is this acceptable or do I need to revise?

  • What should I do about my period that just won't quit?

I have a period for most of April and May, lasting 8 weeks. I say my Dr who assumed the problem was hormonal and put me on birth control, Loestrin fe24 to be exact. After 10 days without a period I started again and have been going for over three weeks now.

    Some background info:

Previously (my entire adult life basically) I had periods very infrequently, often skipping months at a time. I have one child age two.

I'm not sure where to go from here. Should I wait until my follow up to address this concern, or should I call?

I wasn't sure if treating the hormones should slow the period any or if it could take a while to work. I have heard so many stories now about people having cysts causing problems, or that have bleed until they became anemic. I know not to take these stories too personally and get scared, but I know I am miserable and have no idea what to do about it. :(

  • How can I obtain a password for my deceased mother's yahoo mail?

My mother passed away this week, she had put my email as the back up email for her yahoo account, and a few days ago I got an email that her password had been changed. I can't imagine what is in there that some other party felt the need to change her password, but since I don't know the answers to her security questions I wondered if anyone had any ideas how to get access to her account and get the password changed back? I had been trying to find some way to contact Yahoo and see if talking to a real person could help me but I haven't been able to find such a option. All help is appreciated.

  • Where can I find XM funny Christmas songs from last year?

I had XM radio in my truck last year and I played a really funny christmas station all through the holidays. I wrote down the best songs but I forgot to get the notes out of my truck with I turned it back in. XM doesn't have the same station listed (I can't remember what they were calling it, but they only had 4 on the list this year and none were comedic). Does anyone happen to remember the funny christmas songs they were playing, or just happen to have any suggestions? I remember one called, "There ain't no Santa Claus," that was hilarious, and they played "I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas' that kind of thing... Thanks

  • What shoes are popular for teenage boys?

I'm in the market for shoes for my 15 year old nephew and I have no idea what is in with that age group (I'm 23 & out of touch already). All I know if he wants black and green, so any suggestions on brand or style would be helpful. Thanks

  • Should I get a perm?

    http://www.myspace.com/amandaonearth

I just had my hair cut from down to my bum to slightly below my shoulders. It's a fight to try to do anything with it. I want curls, but I've had varying degrees of success with curlers, curling irons, and styling products ranging from poodle gone wrong to gone in 10 minutes. People are murmuring perm, but since I don't remember the 80's all that well, I don't know if it's a good idea or not.

So should I try a perm? And if so what should I ask of my stylist?

    Thanks

  • What should I expect getting brake pads on PT Cruiser?

I know I need new brake pads on my 03 PT Cruiser, but I'm not sure what to expect from a shop. I have a 4 month old son and only one car so I have to make specific plans for this.

    1) Can they do it while I wait or will I have to leave it?

    2) How much is this gonna run me? w/ or w/o the possibility of it "being in the rotors" (keeping in mind I don't fully comprehend that).

Sorry for my ignorance on the subject, and thanks for the help.

  • Where to find Bright start toys?

My son has a Bright Starts lion that hangs on his car seat. It plays about 5 different songs and he loves it. I'm scared to death it's gonna poot out on me, since there is no way to change the battery, so I went back to Target where I got it and they don't have them any more. I even looked on the company's website and they aren't listed. If you have any idea where to find these, it would be helpful. I'm not picky about what animal, or the brand if you know of something similar. I've got picture if you aren't sure what I'm talking about.

  • Gross! Consider yourself warned...Blood in stool?

I'm 22 and have had bloodly BMs for 4 days now. I had the same think last for about 2 days shortly before I had my son, but that was over 2 months ago now. It's not really intermingling with the stool, it's just on the TP when I wipe. I know that's totally nasty, but I'm starting to get concerned so I thought someone might be able to give me some advice before I actually called a Dr. with such an embarassing problem. Thanks

  • Can I use a rear mounted bike seat (for baby) with a 3 wheel bike?

I want to use a 3 wheel bike when riding with my baby, but I can't find any info on using an adult trike with either a baby trailer or a rear mounted seat. Having the third wheel seems like it would provide the extra stability to make a bike mounted seat safer, but I'm not sure if it's possible to properly and safely attach one to the frame of a three wheel bike? Or if I decide to use a trailer, would that attach to the frame of my bike successfully? Any info or experiences with this are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
