  • Haitian adoptions / interracial adoptions?

My husband and I are seriously considering adopting from Haiti. I am curious about other's experience with Haitian adoptions. Also we are Caucasian and the child will most likely be of African decent. When I discuss this with my family they often pause before responding. I appreciate any stories / advice regarding adopting children of races other than your own. You won't dissuade me I just want to know what I'm getting myself into.

  • What to expect from a home visit?

We are starting the process for an international adoption. Part of this is a home visit with a social worker. I am wondering what I can expect from this. Is it somewhat informal where they check out our home to make sure it is clean and safe or it is more in depth. Should we do some home improvement projects (i.e. paint the bedroom, clean up the landscaping, etc.). If it helps we are going through All of God's Children. Any information on the process would be helpful.

  • Where's the spatini?

Last night before dinner we noticed we were out of spatini. Between my husband and I we went to 7 stores. All were sold out and none knew when they would receive anymore. Curious we started looking on line and noticed even on-line retailers such as Amazon were out of stock. What's going on?

  • How do you test for lead paint on toys?

Target recently recalled several toys because they have lead paint. One of the sets is a dinosaur set but not the set I bought my son. I am not sure I trust them when they say his dinosaurs are safe. I want to remove the Target dinosaurs from his herd but he has so many I no longer know which ones came from Target. They cannot tell me how to distinguish their dinosaurs or even how many were in the pack I bought. So I was wondering if there was an easy at home way to test all of his dinosaurs for lead. Any suggestions?

  • What actor has had the most action figures made of their likeness?

I am defining this by the number of characters they played not the number of times the character has been made into an action figure. For example Han Solo would count only once (not three times) for Harrison Ford even though an action figure was made for Star Wars episodes 4, 5, and 6. So far I can't think of anyone having more than 2.
