  • Django Unchained - Will Smith or Jamie Foxx?

So Will Smith was inititally supposed to play the part of Django, which he turned down in the belief that King Schultz was to be the main protagonist and Django his deputy.

My question is: do you think Will Smith could have done a better job than Foxx?

BQ: Do you think Christoph Waltz is one of the most underrated actors of modern times? He's never on anybody's "favourite actors" lists despite the fact that he consistently performs fantastically well. Balancing both sadism, disregard, humility and comedic prowess in a single character isn't a simple task.

BQ2: How does Django Unchained rank amongst Tarantino's previous movies for you?

BQ3: Did anybody else find SLJ to be annoying in this movie? I realise he was probably supposed to be that way, in which case he played the part well, but whenever he was on screen I just wanted him to leave.

  • Getting drunk quickly - scientific reason?

    Hi

I just wondered if there was a scientific explanation for the fact that I go out to the pub on a Wednesday night, drink 4 beers and get drunk, but then go into town on a Saturday night, and it takes like 6 beers and a boatload of spirits to get there?

Are there psychological factors to getting drunk? Like, if I want to get drunk it's difficult but if I'm just relaxing and drinking I get there much quicker.

    Just wondering.

  • Which movies have made you cry?

Up until last week the only movie that had ever made me cry was Edward Scissorhands when I was about 7 years old, but I re-watched The Elephant Man yesterday and cried a little bit when he was talking about his mother.

"If only she could see me today with such wonderful friends: then maybe she could love me for who I am. I've tried so hard to be good".

BQ: Most upsetting scene from a movie?

BQ2: Did The Elephant Man upset you?

  • Do you ever feel like you could easily go insane?

Do you ever get the feeling, when life is really getting you down; like you could just let go and fall into madness?

Like, you have hundreds of intrusive thoughts about breaking everything you can see and doing stupid things; and you feel like you have to really try not to let yourself do it, and if you stopped holding back, you would feel much better?

I know I'm struggling to put the feeling into words, but maybe somebody will understand.

I think that it might be because I subconsciously think, selfishly, that a diagnosed mental illness like depression would give me a reason or something to blame for every problem that I have.

  • Gym membership contractual agreement?

When I signed up to the gym it was on a 12 month rolling contract a few years ago with a 3 month notice period before cancellation.

It rolls around each May and I've been there about 3 years now. I want to change gyms as I've found one that's much cheaper and wondered:

If I tried to cancel it now, 2 months before it's due to clock into a new 12 month contract, would I be unable to, due to the 3 month notice period?

Also, if I can't cancel it - are there any universal get-out clauses for people who might be no longer able to afford the membership or are moving house and can no longer get to that particular gym?

    Many thanks.

  • Car finance question?

My cousin ordered a car through finance and signed the papers 2 days ago. She's looked into it further and it isn't what she was expecting.

She's called the dealership (Peugeot) to cancel and the salesperson said "you can't cancel, the car will be on your drive whether you want it or not".

Does anybody know if it was just pushy sales/scare tactics or whether there is something in the law that says she can't cancel the agreement?

I was under the impression there was a 7 day period on all finance agreements, regardless of what its for, in which you can cancel.

Informed answers only if possible. Please don't just guess.

  • Best Eminem album of all time?

    Please don't say Relapse

BQ: Marshall Mathers LP or Slim Shady LP?

BQ2: Are you at all looking forward to Em's new album this year?

  • Forgetting Sarah Marshall - thoughts?

Do you guys think this is a fantastically written classic comedy or just another throwaway movie to add to the pile?

Personally, it's one of my favourite romantic comedies, I think it's brilliantly written and the humour/romance is well balanced unlike in some rom-coms.

I love Segel, Hader, Hill, Bell and Brand, and Kunis is growing on me too.

BQ: Do you think Russel Brand's Aldous Snow alter-ego makes a mockery of the English for the benefit of Americans? Or is the man just so outrageous that his cockney drawl translates well into most variations of English?

  • Office etiquette question - phone conversation?

I was on the phone to a customer today and he asked for some information which I (being somewhat "wet behind the ears") didn't know if I was allowed to give to him. I made the excuse of not being able to find it and said I would ask somebody. I covered the mouthpiece on the phone handset with my hand and asked a colleague if I was allowed to give him the information, who said that I could. I then took my hand away and told him the info and he told me I "should consider using the hold button in future because muffling the handset doesn't stop people being able to hear what you're saying". I laughed it off and ended the call.

Now I feel stupid (because I am) and wondered if I should send him an email and apologise, telling him I was just making sure. The customer is a big prospect for our company and there's a potential opportunity to work with them so I don't want to look even more stupid. I couldn't tell whether he was offended at all or just being friendly.

  • Sleep pattern and how to change it?

    Hi

I'm 20 years old and for the last 3 years I've been in the routine of going to sleep at about 1:30-2am and getting up at 7:30am to go to work. Reason being is that I don't like to spend all day at work and then come home and feel like I'm just having me tea, a bath and then bed.

Recently I just feel tired all the time, I'm starting to get dark circles under my eyes and I want to start sleeping more. The time I get up at is fixed at 7:30am, but when I try to go to bed earlier I just lie there not sleeping until the early hours of the morning, and still feel tired.

How long does it take to change your sleep pattern and how the hell do I get to sleep at 11pm?

  • Is The Pursuit of Happyness a chick flick?

I wouldn't have said it was, but my wayward and troublesome colleague says it is.

Movie regs (if there are any left...) preferably, I don't want mere mortals polluting the sample.

BQ: Do you think it's a good film?

BQ2: What do you think is Will Smith's best film?

  • Getting out of bed on a morning?

I am terrible at getting up for work on a morning.

I have the innate ability to turn get out of bed and turn my alarm off without properly waking up. I can get up and go to the toilet, and as soon as I get back into my room I can lie down and fall straight to sleep for another hour.

I go to bed at 12ish and don't have to get up while 8, so it's not a case of needing more sleep.

Before I go to bed I assure myself that I'll get up on time in the morning, but when I actually wake up, my groggy brain convinces me that I could use an extra 10 minutes, which almost always turns into 30.

Does anybody have any pro-tips that help them in this situation?
