please help. i just had this on my final exam and i wanted to check my answer. part a, i got SQRT(5) and part b: 1 meter

an exploding toy block of mass 3 kg from the right end of a table with friction coefficient mum = .5. the block explodes into two pieces-a 2 kg piece that slides 1 meter to the left and stops and the other that slides to the right, off the table.

a)what velocity does the smaller piece have as it leaves the table?

b)if the table is 1 meter tall, what horizontal distance (x) does the block travel before hitting the ground?

I had a physics test today and I really need help/i wanna see if i get the same answers as some of you guys. thanks!

-A spring is attached to a metal plate at one end and a block of mass m=2 kg. on the other as shown. The plate moves to the right at a constant velocity v = 1m/s, dragging the spring and block across a rough surface with a friction coefficient muk = .4. while dragged, the spring is stretched delta x = 1 m longer than its equilibrium length.

a) what power must be exerted to drag the block? (8J)

b)if the block suddenly hits a frictionless patch on the surface, the spring starts contracting and the block starts to oscillate. what is its angular frequency omega?

b) A pendulum made from a mass m at the end of an 1.6 meter string is held at rest at a height (above its lowst point) of h - 10cm. when it gets to the bottom of its swing, the ball elasticially collides with a block of the same mass, which slides 1 m on a rough surface coming to a stop. the ball is at rest immediately after the collision.

a)how much time elapses between the release of the ball and the collision with the block? (use the small angle approximation for this part)

b) what is the coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and the surface. (i had .1)

so the story is that there is this guy that has been flirting with me since last semester. (like he works at starbucks and i talk to him when i go in there and thats about it) then one night we ran into each other and slept together.

afterward he told me he wanted to date me, but i didnt understand why since we had already had sex.

do you think hes being genuine/do you think its even possible to have sex before commitment. ive been having the worst luck with guys and im just too scared of being hurt to make any moves forward.

Sophie runs up the hill and estimates she had to run 50 meters to get to the cannonball where it landed. Neglecting the height of the cannon, what was the speed of the cannonball as it came out of the cannon?

I got 2 different answers during the test, as i tried this out two different ways. please try it out and i can see if i ended up going with the right one:)

There's this guy and he stared talking to me over the Summer while I was in Peru. Then when I finally got back to school we still kept talking and then last weekend he said he was going to visit me if his parents (we go to different collees) and him had nothing to do, but he ended up not visiting.

At any rate I def got vibes he was interested in me and I def was in him. Then this weekend I texted him telling him "I like you dude. Im probably tellig you this because im tipsy. I thought I was being obvious but I guess not. If your not looking for that right now I understand I at least still want to be your friend. I just want to hang out with you." and this is really hard for me to do since I really don't take rejection well.

Anyway he responded by telling me "yea I knew. But you shouldn't text drunk"

And now I feel really confused and everything. I don't get why he didn't give me a straight answer especially since I gave him an out. If he's not interested he could have told me esp since I told him "if your not looking for that I get it..."

What do you guys all think?

If Santa slides 7.00m before reaching the edge, what is his speed as he leaves the roof?

When I solved this, i thought the equation was V(final)^2 = V (initial)^2 + 2a [X(final)-X (initial)] which gave me the answer: 11.7 But i tried this answer and it isnt correct.

My answer: p(x)= (neg. infinity, -1), (-1, pos. infinity)

q(x)= all real numbers

(b) Show that p(x) = q(x) for all x =6 −1.

(c) Are p(x) and q(x) the same functions? Please explain your answer.

My best friend (in college) finally had sex with her boyfriend. so, she had sex with him like, our spring semester of college and didnt tell me. then i asked her like, the last day of school and she said "we havent had sex, but even if we did i wouldnt tell you"

then, when she finally told me they did (which was 2 days ago) she said "i had a mini panic attack that first time, and i didnt tell you because i thought we werent going to do it again."

n ow my issue is i know i shouldnt be upset, becasue its her business, but ive told her EVERYTHING pretty much. like shes traveled with me through my bad boy issues, she knows the number of guys ive slept with, and also other very personal issues, and i thought that she trusted me enough to tell me when they had sex.

its a little issue, but its bothering me so much and i dont know how to confront her about it (because i fele like i thought she trusted me and now i know she pretty much doesnt).

suggestions? or can anyone offer a reason for why im so bummed about it?

so this guy i was fwb with basically, we hooked up with each other twice, and the second time he got weird and talked about condoms and how we should use one. we didnt, (but it was weird becasue he asked me how mnay people i had slept with since i last slept with him and when i said one he was all "f*** but didnt put one on still). then at the end he was all "im not saying your a slut, im just saying we should have used one since thts what responsible adults do"

anyway, then a few days later, he told me "we have to stop doing what were doing because i may start seeing someone soon:)" (with the smily face)

then, recenlty he was drunk in our dorm room and apparently pissed himself (hahah) and then (to be a little bit mean) i texted him and said "I hope that everything is alright and youre feeling alright" and then he said "who is this" and then i said "nvm" and he never responded.

So I go to a competitive university in which it is expected that science classes are going to kick our butts. with that being said, i consistenly try my best in biology and get less than great results.

fresman year i got a c+ in that class and didnt take bioII becasue I thought itd be better to take a break and then go back into it. now (sophomore year) I a in bio again and its starting all over again!

so far i have received a 73 on my first exam and im looking to bring that way up.

do you guys have suggestions? the professors teach in the way that there are powerpoints and they do not suggest we read the book. secondly, it is difficult in the sense that i have tried flashcards, i have tried distributive learning i have tried notesheets, everything and i still end up with the same result.

other than "read the text book before lecture" does anyone have any good suggestions on how i can improve this grade? I just need to learn how to memorize a bunch of stuff in a short amount of time i guess.

and btw, its not that im slow. for some reason i can pull a B in orgo, but get mediocre biology grades:(

So there are these two guys; lets call the first one Andrew and the second one uh, Bob

so, im a college student and recently i slept with andrew. hes a senior, im a sophomore.

I dont think andrew is looking for a girlfriend (actually I wouldnt really be sure) but it was totally the best sex i have had so far (and although this sounds superficial, thats sort of a make it break it thing for me with guys)

then theres bob:)

bob is a sohpmore and hes super sweet and i get the feeling he may like me (and i can honestly say i actually like him abck). he broke up with his ex gf last year and hes told me a few weeks ago how hes still in love with ehr and how he and she have been talking as of recent; him and i have been hanging out a little bit more and ive noticed that he actaully has not mentioned her at all anymore.

and then the other thing with bob is that when weve hung out together, he does this thing where hes really touchy with me (not in a douche-bag way; but in a likeable way) and then he actually holds my hand and stuff (something i really dont know how to read).

anyway, i really dont know what to do concerning this because i really want to have sex with andrew again (not really a relationship) but i fear if bob finds out that will turn him off and he will never want to talk to me ever again; and any want of being gf/bf with him will be out of the window; however im not at all commited to bob and cant really even tell if hes into me like i may think he is; and may be missing out on having more good sex with andrew.

also a little back information about me; my parents are divorced; ive seen my mom been cheated on and quite frankly, i dont know if i believe in the whole bf/gf thing. i dotn really understand how two people can be exclusive with each other without someone (guy) cheating. i honestly do have comitment issues and it is very scary for me to think about dating a guy; im 19 and i have never had a boyfriend. i would like to give it a try to get over that fear; but i also dont know how i would go about htat.

so, theres this guy... that ive been hooking up with for about 2 years now.

its not a consistent hookup, just (were in college) during breaks, and summer and things as such.

so, he always contacts me to hook up (i get girly at times and sort of attached so i try to not contact him for fear of getting attached and scaring him away) and i wanted to know what exactly that means.

does he enjoy hooking up with me? im really self conscious about my "sex" skills. and hes been really nice to me lately, for example, he asked me "do you enjoy hooking up with me" and also hes really nice about it.

To sum it up my mom is way overprotective. I am currently 19, I go to JOHNS HOPKINS (so I'm headed in the right direction) and I'm generally a good kid. Why is she so overprotective still? There are too many examples but the worst one (or most re occurring) is her not liking me to go out/stay out to late. She tells me to take a cab if I'm out too late,and even when I do, she always ends up grounding me (yes at the age of 19) for not listening.

O I'm back home from the summer meaning I went awya to hopkins for college. So why can't she trust me? Honestly, her overprotection Is leading me to cut myself and I don't know how to deal with her anymore:/
