  • am i ready to loan a horse?

i want to get a horse in the future but am not financially able to yet.

    I can-

    walk, trot, canter (with/without stirrups)

    jump up to 3 ft

get back on after a fall

    cope with a spook/buck

ride bareback with bridle on in walk/trot/canter

get on any horse without feeling too nervous

    muck out

    feed

    tack/untack

been riding for 3/4 years and am a responsible 14 yr old. I would obviously not get anything too green for me to cope with.

do you think i'm ready to loan a horse??

    thanks.

  • What level would you say I was at riding?

    Just wondering....

I have been riding for three years, both on well trained school ponies and my aunts not so well trained horses. I've also been on various hacks out in various countries on holiday.

    I can:

    walk

    Trot(both diagonals)

Canter (and detect the right lead)

Jump (3ft is the highest and on different horses)

Gallop (and be in the right position, not just clinging on)

Get back on after I've fallen off and cope with a buck/rear/bolt.

    Muck out

    Feed

    Tack up and groom

    And I'm comfortable around horses.

Would you say I'm still a novice or an intermediate?

    Thanks,Lydia.

Oh and do you think I'm ready to part loan/share a horse?

  • I found a mouse, what shall I do?

I was on my way home from school when I noticed this little animal, I'm not sure if he/she is a mouse or Gerbil. I have him at home in a box with wood shavings and straw. What do they eat and drink? he isn't moving much and he just lies there, is he ill? I can't see anything on him except for this cut on his face which I've bathed in salty water. What can I do for him/her?

    Thanks in advance.

p.s don't just tell me to get rid of him./her

  • Am I ready to lease/share a horse?

    Hi,

I am 14 and have been riding for 3 years. I have ridden bombproof beginners through to moody mares. I can cope bucks and get back on when I fall. I can walk, trot, canter and jump 2-3ft easily. I am confident when in the school or out hacking on quite busy lanes. I can tack up/un-tack, muck out, groom, rug-up and feed with no problems. Money is not an issue, it will be kept in my aunts field with her horses (not ridable or I'd ride them). From this do you think I'm ready and what type/size horse would you recommend for me if I'm 5ft 5 (still growing) and want to jump and maybe do local show jumping/ cross country shows???

    Thanks in advance. Lydia

  • what cars fit two greyhounds in?

we have one greyhound in a ford fiesta (older version , not new one) and we are thinking of getting another one. the one we've got is not big but not small either, the one we might get is very small (for a greyhound). we need a car that has enough boot space for two of them to lie down in comfortably, it also so needs to be very cheap (used) as we are a bit kint at the mo. but we can afford the dog.

    Thanks, Lydia

  • am i ready to loan a horse?

I have been riding for 2 and a bit years on various horses, from bombproof beginners to fast paced intermediates. i currently ride two times a week, once on quiet schooled horses and once on a wilder pony kept on a field.

I can tack, untack, groom, pick feet, put out, trot, canter, gallop, jump a small round of fences and muck out.

I know how expensive horses are so therefore i would like to loan/share a horse to start off with. I may even share the horse with a friend who is at the same level experience as me. the horse would be around 15hands or above.

do you think we are able to care for a horse between us???

  • how much room would 2-3 medium size chickens need?

at the moment we have a 5ft by 4ft shed to give them as a coop.

would an L shape made out of two 8ft by 5ft rectangle be big enough for a run for during the day when we are out? we would let them out in the afternoon when we are home to have a walk round our garden of course....

    would this arrangement be okay.

oh and where the day run would be we would put wood chippings down to prevent them making a mess of grass etc. is this okay too

  • how much room would 2-3 battery hens need?

we are thinking of getting 2-3 ex battery hens.

at the mo we can offer them a coop of 4.4ftx3.4ft for at night and during the day, a run of around 14ftx10ft for when we are out during the day. when we get home we would let them out for a couple of hours to roam around an area of 16ftx7ft as well. also the run would permanently be on wood chippings. would this be a good arrangement?

I know the financial costs of having a horse (my aunt has two horses which are too far away) and know the time they need and everything. I have done my research.

I want to start off by loaning a horse but do you think I'm ready?

also , i live in birmingham uk so do you think that having a horse whilst living somewhere like that is a good idea?

my aunt has 2 horses and one is soon going to die. i was thinking my daughter could get one when it does. she has about 2 years riding experience and would love a pony. she really wants a horse she get to know and go out with and i think she is responsible enough.
