  • What degrees would help to get into police force?

I am from Northern Ireland and I want to be in the police. I am aware that you don't need a degree to get into police but I want to have a degree in something. Anyone have any idea what kind of courses would aid me to get into the police force or that would look good, well you know what I mean. Would be really prefered if the course was available in one of the universities in Northern Ireland (university of ulster, queens) or Scotland (Dundee, Edinburgh or any others in Scotland). If anyone no idea what courses would help me, then maybe you may know in what general area course the course would aid me? such as youth working, law, etc courses. My expected A level grades are ACC, so there is noway I would get into law, so basically just wondering about any courses that I would have a chance of getting into :) Thanks ! :D

  • Will I have to keep R plates and not exceed 45mph after 12months if I get a car as 2nd driver?

Was meaning to ask, because my mum told me that if I get a car, and she sings me up as 2nd driver (because of cheaper insurance) she said that apparently I wont get the necessary experience, like, she means that if I get a car on 2nd driver I wont be able to go over 45mph even after 12months of driving (still have to have the R plates) is this true or is she talking s*it? Because to get a car for myself as main driver is way too expensive (looking round £5000pa and up for small engine car).

Someone please tell me if its true ?! Like will I still have to display R plates and not exceed 45mph after 12months if I have a car as 2nd driver?

  • How much would insurance cost?

I'm doing my driving lessons now but I'm nearly done. already planning to buy my first car and really want Vauxhall vectra 2004 DTI 16V (1.9 engine diesel, manual). Also was looking at ford Mondeo also 2003-2004 diesel 1.9 engines. I know there are a lot of variables which will determine insurance cost, but what would be approximate insurance cost both of these cars?

  • Blood test at the doctors - results?

I was just wondering, if I go to the doctors and they give me a blood test, will they be able to see that I have been using drugs? I have used amphetamines and smoked weed couple times but I'm off them for about a month now and I don't plan to use it until I go to the doctors, which probably will be in the next 5 weeks. Simple question, will they be able to see the drugs if they give me a blood test?

  • Battery life - Sony Ericsson Arc S?

I had this phone for a while and didn't encounter any major problems but now I have, the battery dies within 12hours of doing absolutely nothing, don't play any games or listen to music. I have checked the battery status and it shows that my "Contacts" use over 50% of battery compared to 9% used by display. It used to be the other way around. I force close the contacts whenever I can do it, but it opens and works in the background all the time I send a text message or access my contacts. Please help ! :(

  • Would criminology degree would help to join police force? And which one would be the best?

Currently studying A levels and always wanted to join up police force as a police officer and work my way up in this career path. I have researched this career on internet and as I found out there aren't any particular degrees that are required to join police force, however I want to study in university if it enhances my chances of getting accepted into police since there is a problem with jobs these days. I'm considering studying in University of Ulster and they offer quite a selection of courses in criminology, so if any one can help please tell me which 3 degrees would be the best to join police form the following:

    - BSc Hons Criminology and Criminal Justice

    - BSc Hons Politics with Criminology

    - LLB Hons Law with Criminology

    - BSc Hons Social Policy with Criminology

Please do some research before answering, because I'm likely to choose the course you think is the best (obviously I will consult teachers about this, also try and ask someone in police career). For additional information in each course please visit http://prospectus.ulster.ac.uk/course/?id=8043
